S01E09 Dilemma or It never rains but it pours (German)
Summary: An elevator gets stuck between floors, the brake drum fails, and a woman has a heart attack inside of it. Despite Student Nurse Sharon Walters's admiration for Dr. Brackett, he makes her nervous whenever he's around. Dixie diagnoses her nursing student with Bracketitis. Later, a fireman buff develops a crush on John, who tries to get rid of her. A man is injured in his junkyard. An industrial accident takes place at a railroad yard. With the help of Dixie, Nurse Walters smiles in front of both Dixie and Dr. Brackett, and they all take care of a man with a pulmonary embolism. — Gary Richard Collins II (on IMDB)
Johnny and Roy respond to a stuck elevator with a heart patient inside - but before they can rescue her, it slips and falls two stories to the floor, creating new injuries! Dr. Brackett intimidates Sharon, who's also causing her to make mistakes, whenever he's around, therefore, Dixie diagnoses her student with Bracketitis. Johnny tries to find someone to take out Cynthia, a girl who's chasing him, and he figures any girl chasing a guy must have something wrong with her. A man who buries all his garbage creates a methane hazard, and two rail yard workers start cleaning the wrong car, and the fumes in it overcome them. Before Nurse Walters smiles in front of Dixie and Dr. Brackett, they all help a man with a pulmonary embolism. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Well, Johnny is talking about his stalker Cynthia but Roy doesn't believe him. Their first rescue brings them to an elevator stuck between two floors but on accident it crashes down, so they deal with more injuries. They get all out but a man and his woman friend remain and the two paramedics take care them. For me, the lift man was annoying here, apologizing all the time. *sighs* At Rampart, nursing student Walters is nervous around Dr. Brackett and well, Dixie helps her then dealing with it and Dr. Early as well. Johnny and Roy are then called to a junkyard where a man is blazed with methane but they get him a fire and he thanks them for it. At a railroad accident they deal with more but they manage to save both workers on time. In the end, all firemen get to know Cynthia and Roy does believe his friend Johnny has no eyes. And well, Chet has a date with her and even borrows Mike's truck.

S01E08 Weird Wednesday or A funny Day (German)
Summary: John comments on how weird things were going to happen on his shift, and he is proven right as they have to rescue a parachutist stuck in a tree, an obese man who collapses while jogging, an 80 year-old woman who sprains her ankle while dancing at her birthday party, so the guests go to the hospital to resume the party, a man who cannot stop hiccuping, a boy who tries to freeze himself to preserve his body, a female golfer bitten by a rattlesnake, and a prostitute bringing in her john, an old foreign sailor who can't explain what's wrong since he can't speak English. A passing nurse is finally able to interpret what's wrong with the sailor. Finally, Roy & John rescue a drunk driver but not before John is injured. — Gary Richard Collins II (on IMDB)
Johnny is sure that this day will be filled with strange occurrences. First the paramedics deal with a woman who fell into a tree - a parachuting accident. They help an obese jogger with chest pains, while at Rampart, Dr. Brackett and Dixie treat a man with persistent... hiccups... and Dr. Early helps eighty year old Bernadette Spalding, who broke her ankle dancing. A boy tries at home cryogenics by freezing himself (with instructions to open the freezer in 1992). Roy and Johnny treat a woman bitten by a rattlesnake, and a taxi brings a foreign sailor to Rampart who can't explain what's wrong because he can't speak English and no one can speak whatever language he does command, until Dixie and Dr. Early who were both talking into a female interpreter to find out what really went wrong. Mrs. Spalding's party finally finds her, as the paramedics climb a steep embankment to reach a driver who went over the edge. Johnny twists his knee, but the driver, a drunk, isn't hurt at all! Fortunately, the day will soon be over. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Oh boy, what a day - for the paramedics and the hospital staff. It starts with a woman hanging in a tree while parachuting - after 94 attempts to find the aim. And she wants to continue trying, leaving Johnny and Roy speechless behind. Then a man having a heart attack while jogging with his son who blames himself. Dr. Early at Rampart tries to help a woman who broke her ankle during her birthday party (80 years!) and decides to celebrate further at the hospital. The guys surrender, including the paramedics who then are called to a guy who freezes himself in a fridge with strict order not to open before 1992. However, his friends are concerned and well, the guy is not happy being woken up too early. Never mind, at the hospital Dr. Brackett treats a guy who hiccups all the time and cannot stop at all. Roy and Johnny are then called to a woman on golf place, bitten by a rattlesnake (future!) but they manage to save her on time. At the hospital again, a woman brings in a man who cannot tell what's wrong with him - until a nurse recognizes the language. And lately, the guys are called to a car down an edge whose driver turns out to be drunk, yet Johnny twists his knee. Still, before that Roy manages to break their key to the ignition, making Johnny to hot-wire their car. That was a funny episode!

Anyway.
I shared most if not all of these Laredo gifs in a previous post. But they deserve their own post. From 'the Calico Kid'.
Joe looks so sad to see Chad making out with someone else. XD Laredo has lots of interesting stuff to ponder, but his character is among the most fascinating. The gay subtext between him and Chad is one thing, but I kinda want to claim him for the aces based on his overall portrayal on the show. (And honestly, he could be both. I'm ace but have distinct taste when it comes to aesthetic and romantic attraction. I'm a woman who is almost exclusively attracted to men, in the ways that I experience attraction.)
The rest of the characters are shown to have girl-of-the-week love interests. Chad and Erik have at least one girl on their arms during pretty much every episode. Reese and Parmalee are likewise shown to have interest in women.
Joe is not.
I can’t remember an episode where he had a solo, romantic scene with a woman. He has been shown cozied up to a saloon girl very rarely and it’s always a situation where whoever else he’s with has a girl at their side. Expectation, peer pressure, conformity.
To make this all even more interesting, there is a woman who is canonically interested in him, and she's a recurring character no less. (The rest of the guys' girls are selected from the 1960s TV Women as Props Rolodex.) But he doesn't reciprocate and it's treated as a joke. Her means of getting close to him is to capture him, and in one instance, she tries to force him to marry her.

S01E07 Publicity Hound or The Press Hero (German)
Summary: The promotion is given to another paramedic, instead of John, which makes him very jealous. John gets seasick, after he and Roy rescued a man in ship's rigging. A powerful tycoon threatens to take Dr. Brackett to court, because of the tycoon's son's diagnosis, therefore, with the help of Dr. Brackett and Dixie, Dr. Early successfully calms him down. Dixie takes care of an already taken lady whom John was going to see. The paramedics rescue a horse from a ditch and a child stuck in a well. —Gary Richard Collins II (on IMDB)
Johnny becomes increasingly jealous of Tom Wheeler, a paramedic with Squad 110 who has several times gotten himself in the newspapers. The paramedics rescue the captain of a boat struck unconscious during a mishap and dangling upside down from a spar. Dr. Brackett's harsh personality gets him, and maybe the hospital, into a lot of trouble with a powerful and rich man named Dumont, before Dr. Early talks to the same man, in a calm manner. Returning from a false alarm, the paramedics discover a horse trapped in a new drainage ditch and help its owner free it. Finally, the entire station works for hours to rescue Elena Diaz, a child who has fallen into a hole at a construction site - and Wheeler winds up getting the press! But this time, Johnny doesn't care, after Dixie treated a taken lady whom he was going to see. He's just happy he got the child out alive. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Oh well, where to start. Johnny is furious when a colleague gets a promotion in the newspaper instead of him and it certainly shows in his acting. At first, he and Roy have to save a boat's captain and in the end, Johnny gets seasick. Back on land, they get a call which gets cancelled but manage to cross a lady with a horse in need. Johnny volunteers again - and has to dig the horse out while Roy tends to treat the horse's owner. It doesn't help Johnny's mood at all. At the end, they are called to save a child stuck in a well but with a lot of digging they could save the little girl and Wheeler, the colleague, gets again the attention. Marco helps to calm the mother down while speaking Spanish. At Rampart, Dr. Brackett has to deal with tycoon and the threat of lawsuit but Dr. Early intervenes successfully. Phew!
------------------
Still unclear if Johnny needs or wants attention - sometimes. lol
Enjoy!

S01E06 Nurse's Wild or Dangerous Recklessness (German)
Summary: The manager of a store shoots an armed robber and has strong regrets. Dr. Brackett and Dixie deal with a tough man suffering from chest pains. Between Johnny and the nurse, sparks fly. Dr. Early treats an alcoholic. A dog delays the rescue of an unconscious woman. Dr. Morton assumes an unconscious hippie is on drugs. The firemen rescue a man trapped at a chemical plant.—Gary Richard Collins II (from IMDB again)
A store owner shoots an armed robber and is filled with remorse. Dr. Brackett and Dixie deals with a tough man suffering from chest pains. Sparks fly between Johnny and a nurse. Dr. Early treats an alcoholic. A dog delays the rescue of an unconscious woman. Dixie and Dr. Morton assumes an unconscious hippie is on drugs, Dixie asks politely to him to not put down in front of her attendants or patients. The firemen rescue a man trapped at a chemical plant. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Well, the boys are busy and Dixie has her hands full with her nurses and the doctors. There are some attitude problems but Dixie firmly puts them to an end. Johnny, meanwhile, tries to get a date with one of the nurses but then they finally agree on one when she then tells him that she's going to be a nurse on a cruiser. Johnny rants and Roy has to hear it all way long. But at first they deal with a failed robbery and two victims, a dog delays a rescue but Roy has a solution whereas Johnny finds the solution to the case. Roy shows some young boys their fire station when his wife calls and Johnny takes over showing them the squad. It doesn't have the same effect. Anyway, in the end they save a man trapped in a chemical plant.

S01E05 Dealer's Wild or Out of Control (German)
Summary: ...in a classic expose of this cliche...Gage & DeSoto; as well as Drs. Brackett/Early/Mortimer and Nurse McCall give their all to save the bizarre assortment of cases thrown their way...
...DeSoto overcomes a rules-bound airport employee who couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag to talk down a brave young man whose dad has suffered a serious heart attack in their private plane...only to finally lose him...
...again, DeSoto is confronted with unhelpful onlookers and a prostitute mother as he searches for clues to a young woman's drug overdose...
...and the ultimate irony is a destitute man surviving his triple suicide attemp (slashed wrists/rat poison/gas poisoning) only to berate Dixie for the Rampart medical staff for saving his life; threatening to sue for "his being poked and prodded"...
...not only do our paramedics face intense medical challenges; but they must deal with lazy, self-absorbed, purposely uncooperative individuals whose actions throw up unnecessary obstacles...or who utterly fail in expressing anything approaching gratitude for their efforts...
...for these reasons...we owe a double debt of gratitude for their selfless dedication, compassion and tender loving care...just as true today as when this episode aired 50 years ago... - by gclarkbloom on IMDB
Roy tries to talk a boy down in a plane in which his father, the pilot, suffered an apparent heart attack while in flight. A man tries to commit suicide by drinking poison, slashing his wrists, and turning on the gas in his apartment. Station 51 responds to an overturned gasoline tanker truck. Roy and Johnny deal with disinterested bystanders while a teenager overdoses on LSD. At the hospital, Drs. Brackett and Early puzzle over what could have caused the tank truck driver to pass out behind the wheel - they know there's a problem in his brain, but not where. Dr. Brackett and Dixie meditate on people who want to die, but live, and people who want to live, but die. At the station, Johnny keeps losing card games which leaves him with washing the dishes each night. Now he is determined to create his own card game. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Poor Johnny and his bad luck with playing cards. Always losing and therefore stuck with washing the dishes all the time. He tries to find a solution but they are kept calling out. First to an airfield where they need to overrule an employee to get a plane down with a boy and his downed father. Roy manages this good. Then the whole station is called to an overtuned gasoline truck, then to a man who tries to kill himself with three different ways and a young girl with an OD whose mother is more interested in her own money than her kids. The irony here: the guy with killing himself survives but some other die or have to suffer. And Johnny. Well, he creates his own game and ... still loses and wants to hire a dish washer for their station. lol
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Johnny and cards should stay away from each other. *grins*
Enjoy!

S01E04 Brushfire or The Fire Storm (German)
Summary: This episode focuses on a brush fire that apparently was accidentally started by some kids playing. Roy and Johnny find themselves in the midst of it saving various people. An old woman fell while her neighbor, her sister, cries no tears for her state of health. A woman has her baby in the middle of the forest fire while the firemen wonder if they'll get out in time. A fireman is rescued after a tree falls on him and wonders if he will lose his leg. And a man (Tony Dow from Leave it to Beaver) is injured while riding his bike. But there's more to that particular story! Meanwhile, there's a very upset little boy at the hospital who broke his arm. His only worry - to find his dog in the midst of the fire - an impossible task? - by mitchrmp on IMDB
An out of control brushfire threatens a large area in the valley; Station 51 is one of many called to respond. They meet 79 year old Winifred Lenover and her 80 year old sister, who hate each other. Winifred needs medical help but won't leave the house in her sister's care. A boy named Andy, whose arm is broken in three places, finds his way to the hospital but wants to leave to go find his missing dog Grover. Dixie takes care of that boy, before Dr. Brackett reprimands both her and Roy, in begging them to leave, realizing firemen are taking the wildfires pretty seriously. Five runs in six hours and the paramedics still aren't done: they treat a fireman named Conway whose leg is pinned under a tree, a pregnant woman who cannot be moved until she gives birth, and whose house will shortly be engulfed, the victim of a stampede, and a motorcyclist who ran off the road while looting evacuated homes. (taken from here again)
Thoughts: Well, the station is called out to help with a brush fire. The squad first gets called away to help a fallen woman - and as it turns out there are two sisters who don't like each other. Emma and Winifred, and Johnny and Roy try to smooth things down with both women. Well, they only have minor success. At Rampart, a boy comes in with a broken arm but he only worries about his dog, Grover and so Dixie asks the two firefighters when they come in if they could look for the dog. She convinces them, naturally. Then they deal with an injured colleague who wonders if he will lose his leg, then a baby wanting to come out in the middle of the fire and in the end with a man who is stealing from abonded houses but manages to make an accident. Ready to eat at their base, Johnny and Roy notice the collected dogs and find their intended target which they bring to the hospital and to the young boy who is happy to have him back.

From now on I post those without any comments of mine. Right? Right! lol
