The XX: I See You
The XX released I See You just this past Friday so I decided to listen to it and review it while it was still brand new! My sister introduced me to The XX about 5 years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since so I was quite excited to find out they produced a new album.
I love the way the album starts. The first song is titled “Dangerous” and it opens with trumpets. It makes for a siren like noise that is announcing to the audience that the album is beginning. Jamie XX is a master when it comes to producing beats and he doesn’t let that title down in this album. He makes beats that complement the vocalists of the trio – Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft – perfectly and the two singers themselves complement each others vocals immaculately. I love the back and forth dialogue that the duo has in “Say Something Loving”.
I See You is definitely not something I can listen to in any mood. Jamie XX’s beats give off a more chill vibe that is great to listen to when I’m relaxing or doing work. However, one song on the album is a little more faster paced than the rest of the album . “On Hold” was released before the whole album was and originally I didn’t particularly LOVE the piece. But, hearing it in its place in the album, it fits perfectly and really bops. It might be my favorite song on the album, hard to say.
My one complaint about the album is that it’s one song too short! In its entirety, the album plays 10 tracks at 39:15. After waiting about 5 years for The XX to release a new album, I think the fans deserve a little more music out of them! But, the album and its storyline flow seamlessly so maybe it’s best the way it is.

I'm sorry if this is a question that you already answered but is it easy meeting the xx before/after a show?
hey! both are possible. i feel like there are less of a crowd before the show, though.
