Just a little update! I know it doesn't seem like a ton is happening but a lot has happened behind the scenes and a ton has changed for the story (for the better! I'm loving how it's going so far!)

Someone sent me an ask about current demo issues (thank you for the reminder and the advice!) And although I know the prologue will likely change quite a bit, I do have a fixed up version of it I uploaded to itch, where many of the problems it had before are now fixed! Just take it with a grain of salt and know it will likely change! But it should be better now!

Outside of that progress has been good! I don't want to go into too much details so far but a feast is being cooked behind the scenes! 🥰

I just finished planning the scene where you have the chance to lock into one of the RO's routes! Woot woot! 🎉🎉🎉One of them occurs earlier than the others, while everyone else's is planned to be locked in around/at the same time! I might change it in the future, though, because I feel like it will undermine a lot of the other characters' routes and put the other ROs at a disadvantage, so we shall see if that changes in the future...

This outlining and first draft is turning into a bloodbath over here- we already have had two characters that I thought would be major killed off and replaced with other existing characters. It's everyone for themselves out here. 😬

I highly recommend playing it if you haven't yet! There isn't a lot out yet, but the character creation and story so far are- chef's kiss! I don't know how they make characters so lovable so quickly, but Havard is now one of my favorite interactive fiction characters!

Fear Makes Phobias Update - 2025/05/23

Hello to you all! I hope everyone's week went splendidly, and you all have a lovely weekend planned out! 🥰🥰🥰

I haven't posted for a while, but never fear; I am still alive and doing plenty of work on the story! Reoutlining the plot has been giving me plenty of challenges and experiences that I am loving learning from! I have decided I am going to write a rough first draft copy, alongside the outline of the story, before posting public updates! Which I think will give me a much better guideline for the story than what I was doing before (which was just going off of plot points and a very loose outline that didn't feel solid enough for me!) The bad news with that is that I likely won't be doing public updates for the story for... a while... BUT quality > quantity! I know as my first book/interactive fiction game it won't turn out perfect, but I still want to give it plenty of love and learn through the entire process! So I won't be extremely active as I work on the book behind the scenes, but I hope to be a bit more active than I have been in the last month. 😅

Progress has been a little slow on the story this week, as the more I work, the more plot holes I keep uncovering! 😅 So I have switched my focus onto improving the story's outline then writing chapter 1! With this being my first writing project, I know I am still learning a ton, so all of these issues and set backs aren't a surprise! But the more I fix everything, the better I get which is what I am striving for!

I've been taking it pretty slow this week to recover from all the work I had, but I have been working on Fear Makes Phobias! I've been drawing characters, editing the prologue, improving my grammar skills, and working on chapter 1! It's going a little slow, but I hope as my energy replenishes, my progress will get faster!

Hello-hello! I am back, yet again!

I have asked this in multiple IFs (as I tend to do ehe), so here you go!

How do the ROs feel about PDA? How would they react to a veeerrryy physically affectionate MC, in public and private? I'm talking hugs for no reason, sneaky kisses, etc. Also, for a tall MC, standing with their chin on top of the ROs heads, arms wrapped around them - as a default standing/waiting position.

I am so sorry this took so long to get around too 🥺 but it was a fun one to answer, thanks for sending it in! ❤️

Valour:

Although he doesn't usually actively touch or hug others, if he knows MC makes an effort to give him lots of physical affection, he makes a great effort to reciprocate it in equal amounts. He doesn't like the thought of letting MC do all the work in the relationship and feels like he might be disappointing or discouraging MC by not reciprocating, so he will equally give you surprise kisses, hugs, and hand-holding! It might even turn into a competition every time you meet up to see who can provide the first surprise hug or kiss! As for a tall MC, I can see him getting quite a bit more competitive with them compared to a shorter or average-height MC. He likes to brag about his height to others (specifically that he is 6'0.5), so having a partner who's taller than him is something he wasn't expecting. Having your arms wrapped around him and resting your head on him might earn you some tickles or play fighting instead of cuddles!

Koda:

Physical touch is his love language, so he is all for it even if it doesn't look like it! When in public he doesn't want to talk to others and usually tries to maintain an aura of indifference and intimidation, so I think it's hilarious for people on the streets to see this stoic man walking about all broody-like while an affectionate MC walks beside him swinging his hand and chattering away while he tries to hide his flustered state. As for a taller MC, he doesn't like being the smaller spoon, or so he claims, so he would offer to hold you instead (in private) or for you to come stand by his side and hold his hand instead.

Lucien:

I think this perturbs him quite a bit. It most definitely took him a while to get used to your touch, and I think he might still not feel the most comfortable about constantly being touched (nothing against MC, touch overall throws him off). So to balance out your physical affection with his aversion to it, in public, he would get you to hold the cuff of his sleeve instead of his hand. Or have you ask him before hugging him or touching him :) he'll likely say no in public but in private there's a very likely chance he will say yes! As for MC's height, he doesn't mind if they are taller or shorter than him! It would take a lot of trust and he would have to be really comfortable with you to let you rest your chin on top of his head and hold him! Just don't mess up his perfectly styled hair!

Vampire Lore: Bloodlust

Vampires need human blood to survive, and similar to jury duty, humans are randomly selected by the government to donate blood in order to feed vampires in the country. The blood is kept in specific blood bags and are mixed with chemicals that greatly reduce a vampires sense of taste and smell. The reduction of these senses greatly reduces a vampires instincts, preventing them from going into the bloodlust state if someone has an open wound around them. While the chemical prevents them from going into bloodlust, the government highly warns its citizens against letting vampires drink directly from them. As it can induce bloodlust by diluting the chemicals effects in the vampires body.
