FINAL VIDEO TAKEAWAY

Three things about this video that I’d change:

1. Going back in Premiere and adjusting the audio levels. I noticed my voice gets too quiet near the end.

2. Going back and re-filming some shots that were filmed at night. The consistency of the lighting isn’t where I want it to be.

3. Going back and possibly incorporating some more text for when I’m speaking.  

Overall, I really like the way this video came out and the vibe that it has. I wanted it to be really personal and focus on the tasks that my hands are busy doing in each shot. I also feel so comfortable with Premiere + After Effects now after working on this project.

I also think that I’d go back and add more footage to make it longer.

IDEAS FOR PROJECT 4

#1.HOW TO VIDEO ON PERSONAL PAPER SCULPTURES

incorporate stop motion and typography into a short video that shows myself creating a three-dimensional paper sculpture. I would take you through the process of making homemade paper, creating stencils to make all the shapes out of the paper, then putting the sculpture together.  

#2.VISUALIZE A SONG IN ASL

incorporate typography and iconography to visualize a song to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. 

#3.HOW SOMETHING IS PRINTED (AT LNW)

show a time-lapse video (or regular footage) of how something is printed at Lithtex NW and incorporate text as instructions. Show all the different places the job has to go and get something done. (designing, estimating, printing, cutting, shipping, etc.)

TYPE SPECIMEN TAKEAWAY

If I were to change three things about my video ‘memphis’ I think I’d start with:

1. I would go through the whole video and readjust the pacing of the video and make it flow with the song a little better. Since I chose such a fast=paced song, it makes some areas a little harder to read.

2. The next thing that I’d change would be to go back and adjust some of the colors in the video. It seems AE didn’t transfer some of my spot colors that were in my color palette so there are some sections where the color appears to be off. 

3. Lastly, I think I’d consider doing a voice-over, just to see if that would add some more readability to the video overall. 

All in all, this project got me much more comfortable using AE and working with motion graphics in general. Next time though, I should try not to do it mostly all the night before.
