I am Mahmoud Hamam. Most of those in this application have heard my name or know me because I frequently publish about my family in Gaza, but now I will explain to you completely who I am.

About Mahmoud: A 21-year-old engineering student from Gaza. I am ambitious and passionate. I love my education and my work. I have a beautiful, conservative, and friendly family.

I was working as a freelancer before October 7th, but with the war I lost my job and left my home heading to the southern Gaza Strip. I lived the worst months of my life searching for my life between transporting water, feeding my family and escaping death. I wasted two years of my life without a goal, just escaping death. I got my expenses and my family’s expenses from your donations, but now I am searching for my dream again in these circumstances.

I created the Isnad initiative, which aims to help students in Gaza who lost their dreams, just like me! Today I am proud to have helped more than 70 students complete their education!! But today! I work in the initiative for 6 hours a day, but I can't stand on my feet after 3 hours. Why? Because famine killed us in Gaza. I feel nauseous quickly and I can't complete my day unless I get the nutritional supplement designated for children!! Can you imagine that?

Famine has filled the sector and prices are very high. My campaign has $30,000. I have been collecting this amount for two years and only $5,000 is left to reach my goal. I am really exhausted and hungry. The only thing left for me is you guys. Please allocate $10 for me! Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about the Ihyaa' initiative. My friend Mohammed Ayesh, who's been our vetter on the ground in Ghazzah for the last year or so, wants to make a space and provide resources for University students to complete their studies in a proper learning environment, along with providing food parcels, stationary, and other essentials. You may have heard of the Isnad initiative! It's very similar to the Ihyaa' initiative but it's located elsewhere. They had to find the right room to use as a classroom for the Ihyaa' initiative and they're going to be paying rent of 2000$ for it. Mohammed Ayesh has informed me that starting on Monday this rent will begin.

University students are the foundation of a better and rebuilt Ghazzah! If you want to help Ghazzah rebuild, this is one of the first steps you can start assisting with.

I am really worried about Samir. Samir was recently shot in the stomach, which ruptured his spleen and liver. Abeer Salem is a 55-year-old mother from Gaza City. Before the war, she lived a peaceful, loving life with her husband and only daughter, Judy. They were happy. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter. Judy enjoyed the quiet joy of childhood, with dolls, books, and the security of home and family.

Then one day, it was all gone.

Bombs reduced everything the family owned—every memory, every room, every scrap of safety—to ash.

“Everything we had and everything we worked for was vaporized,” Abeer writes.

They were forced to flee Gaza City and evacuate to Al-Nuseirat. But the fear didn’t stop there. They lived in constant terror of losing one another. In desperation, Abeer left Gaza in search of safety for her daughter. But what they found was not peace, but another war: a psychological one, filled with grief, trauma, and instability.

Abeer is now asking for help to restore even a sliver of what was lost. She dreams of giving Judy a sense of normalcy again—a safe home, nourishing food, and a sense of security.

The almost total decimation of infrastructure in Gaza has left the family without a stable income.

Their only source of survival right now is their fundraiser and the kindness of strangers. With barely £726 raised out of a £70,000 goal, their campaign has stalled—receiving only one donation in the past two months.

Hi friends, I’m writing this update with a heavy heart from Gaza.

Every day has become a fight for survival. The situation here is getting worse and harder to put into words. Flour, if available, costs over 500 dollars for a single bag. Markets are almost completely empty — no vegetables, no canned food, and barely anything to keep us going. Even if you have money, there’s simply nothing to buy.

This isn’t just about food — it’s about dignity, survival, and the mental toll of living under constant fear and loss. There’s no electricity, no clean water, and no sense of safety. We’re dealing with a genocide, with a man-made famine, and the slow destruction of everything that made life normal.

I’m trying to hold on, not just for myself but for my family, my people. Every day I see them get weaker, and it’s breaking me from the inside. I’ve always tried to be strong and keep going, but I’ll be honest — I’m exhausted. I’m scared. And I need your help.

If you’ve supported my campaign before, I want you to know that your kindness has literally kept us alive till now. It’s the reason I’m still able to write this today. This is how my family has come to live — a life resembling hell — in displacement camps.

My family now lives a life full of misery and suffering after the war destroyed their simple home that was filled with beautiful memories. Yes, now they live in a tent that seems like a small, enclosed patch, cut off from everything. A torn life, bearing nothing of its name. Constant sorrow and pain strike them over and over again. Even the fabric walls of the tent speak, telling a new chapter of a book titled “Tragedy in the Land of Pain and Sorrows.”

When you look into my mother’s eyes, it’s as if the weight of the world has been placed upon her. As though life itself has conspired against my family — stripping them of my father, their pillar of strength and support, and taking the lives of my niece and my sister’s daughter in the most brutal way, without reason.

Despite all this, hardship did not stop there. It showed no mercy to what remained of my family — it went on to destroy their home, the place that once united us and held all our simple memories.

Now, they are displaced, living in camps that offer no mercy and fail to provide even the most basic necessities of life. Camps without privacy, where the world darkened in their eyes the moment they found themselves homeless, exposed to suffering in all forms — sometimes wrapped in hardship, other times sipping from the cup of misery.

They endure the cruelty of life, living under the scorching sun with nothing to protect them but a pile of scrap. This has become their daily routine: waking up to stand in long lines just to get a small amount of water, then searching tirelessly for a morsel of food. And when night falls — a time that’s supposed to bring rest — it instead brings more suffering. Life seems to have written pain into every line of their existence. They go to sleep wishing they could keep one eye open, fearing an attack from rats or worse.

This is just a glimpse of the suffering my family endures in the displacement camps — a life of unbearable hardship and a tragic situation like no other.

As you all know I'm a good friend of Mohammad Ayesh ( @moayeshblog ) and I've seen him work tireless to help others at the expense of helping himself and his own interests. From his work with @gaza-evacuation-funds and @ihyaafoundation. And I'd like to advocate for his own fundraiser right now.

The living situation in Gaza is catastrophic and he is no exception. He is still a very young man but he's shouldering the huge responsibility of his family, by going out every single day to find what little food is even available in Gaza to provide for his family. Only 1 kilo of flour is 30 dollars. That's just enough to make around 12 small loaves of bread. And this needs to feed 8 people for a whole day. And that's just a small glimpse of the daily life that Mohammad is living with his whole family.
