New Marvel/DC Crossover Event Confirmed!
Get ready, Marvel and DC Comics fans, because the two titans of superhero comics are finally coming back together. The heydays of Marvel and DC's crossovers might be long gone, but both publishers are entering a new era as Marvel and DC are committing to uniting their universes once more. At ComicsPRO, Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and DC Comics Editor-in-Chief Marie Javins spoke after the keynote speech and discussed the recent reprint collections DC Versus Marvel Omnibus and DC/Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus. Cebulskin noted that it's been over two decades since the last DC and Marvel crossover and floated the idea of a modern one. In a moment that shocked the audience, the editors confirmed that there would be two Marvel and DC Comics crossovers later this year, one produced by each publisher. Neither characters nor creative teams were confirmed, but the crossover will indeed be a reality. Source: ScreenRant

"I'd like to book a trip." "Marvelous. To any parallel universe specifically?" "What are my options?" "Literally infinite." "Such as?" "One in which you're a chef? A woman? A concert pianist? A centaur? Centaur is very popular ... "

Instacart (2025)
Instacart is advertising in the Big Game for the first time this year, which means CMO Laura Jones will be in the stands alongside other major marketers from many of the 80-odd brands with Super Bowl ads. Unlike the other CMOs, though, Jones spent the days leading up to the Super Bowl hanging out with a gaggle of brand mascots and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. The Super Bowl ad content is proving valuable for the mascot-wielding brand partners in an advertising capacity, bolstering Instacart’s retail media business as well as its brand recognition. Brands including Procter & Gamble, Energizer, Pillsbury, and Kraft Heinz are repurposing the ad content for shoppable content on Instacart, Jones said. “We’ve actually had several of the brands use either our teaser or our spot as content for our shoppable video unit in our app,” Jones said, speaking outside of ADWEEK House in New Orleans alongside the Wienermobile and in the presence of Chester Cheetah, the Jolly Green Giant, the Pillsbury Doughboy, and the Kool-Aid Man. “They’re running our ad in our app as an ad for their brand,” she explained. “Some of them are also using our ad on Meta, using our targeting, and then directing the traffic back to Instacart.” Instacart’s 30-second spot, part of a broader brand platform called “We’re Here,” stars nine brand mascots: Chester Cheetah, the Old Spice man, Mr. Clean, the Energizer Bunny, Mountain Dew’s Puppy Monkey Baby, the Pillsbury Doughboy, the Jolly Green Giant, the Kool-Aid man, and a stampede of Heinz Wiener dogs. The brands featured in the ad did not pay to be included. Instacart worked with the brands to get the rights and intellectual property of each mascot. Source: Ad Week

The Amazing … Green Lantern? (2009)
Pictured above is the finished art from a collaborative piece comics pal Paolo Rivera and I worked on. Technically it's not the first. The artwork is, of course referencing the classic John Romita (Sr.) cover to Amazing Spider-man no. 39 from way back in 1966. It was a bunch of fun to work on, and an interesting way of working as we tried our best to pretty evenly split the art-making duties. Paolo pencilled in the city and Green Lantern, then shipped the piece over to me. I pencilled in Spidey and all the lettering, then inked everything. I then sent the artwork back to Paolo where he finished things off by painting in the colors. Source: Joe Quinones' Blog

Abbott Elementary (January 2025)
The Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover is a two-part fictional crossover event between the ABC workplace comedy Abbott Elementary and the FXX black comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia that was produced for broadcast in 2025. In the event, "the Gang", a group of narcissistic and sociopathic proprietors are given a court order to volunteer in an underprivileged elementary school in Philadelphia. Both episodes tell the same story, but through the viewpoints of their own characters. The crossover began on Abbott Elementary with the ninth episode of the fourth season, "Volunteers". It aired on January 8, 2025. A second part is expected to air in June 2025 as the first episode in the seventeenth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The crossover was first conceived after Quinta Brunson and Rob McElhenney, the respective creators of Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, met at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards and joked that their shows should crossover. Conversations continued later in the year before being pitched to the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger, where it became a reality. The production team of both series faced further challenges acquiring legal approvals and issues with scheduling. "Volunteers" was written by Garrett Werner and directed by Randall Einhorn, while the second part was written by McElhenney and Keyonna Taylor and directed by Todd Biermann. The popularity of both series led to it being considered a highly-anticipated crossover. The first part was seen by 3.76 million viewers and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
