A barrel-aged gin Martinez. The likely predecessor to the ever-present martini but sweeter and more complex.
45ml Old-Tom Style Gin
45ml Sweet Vermouth
2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Barspoon Maraschino
Stir over ice and strain into chilled coupe. Garnish with an orange pull (and some cherries if you're like me and just want an excuse to eat those cherries)

The venerable Sazerac. A fancied up Old Fashioned, but a drink that transcends into something entirely its own thing

A Basil-Raspberry Cognac Smash. Herbal, fruity and wonderfully refreshing.

20ml Raspberry Simple Syrup
20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
6 Basil Leaves
8 Raspberries
Muddle Basil, Raspberries, Lemon Juice and Raspberry syrup in glass. Add Cognac and ice. Garnish with more raspberries

The Martini. The terribly abused, misunderstood Martini.
I don't know where the weird flex regarding "super dry" came from, but stop it. It's a cocktail, make a cocktail. You want olive soaked gin, go drink olive soaked gin.
60ml London Dry Gin
15ml Dry Vermouth
2 dashes Orange Bitters
Chill coupe with ice water. Add ingredients to a mixing glass over ice. Stir for at least 15 seconds (it should be cold). Strain into chilled coupe, squeeze lemon twist over top and garnish.
