Like prophecies, sacrifice is also something we’ve seen before. In Skypiea, Mousse was sacrificed. On an altar which looks suspiciously like the Empty Throne.

thinking about Luffy from the perspective of an everyday schmo in his world is hilarious. And I don’t mean “I heard he was 20 feet tall” etc., though that is still really funny. I mean think about what’s public knowledge on him.

this guy comes out of nowhere, declares war on the fucking government, blows up the centre of their justice system, commits basically the biggest crime you can commit by punching super-royalty and somehow gets away with it, breaks into the most secure prison in the world, and breaks right back out again just to jump feet-first into the biggest war in recent memory, during which you find out oh hey his dad's also trying to overthrow the government, the pirate king’s kid is his adopted brother, and a freaking Emperor (aka one of the Four Most Scariest Pirates In The Entire World) casually hands him his hat back. A few weeks later he breaks into the headquarters of the world’s biggest military (which is actively hunting him btw) just so he can ring a bell, and the pirate king's right-hand man is there helping him.

And then he fucking disappears for two years.

Suddenly he comes back, teams up with a Government-Sanctioned Pirate™ to save some country you’ve never heard of by beating the shit out of Pablo Escobar and he’s publicly hailed as a hero?? then he gets together with Al Capone, a bunch of mermen and the villains from your comic books to try and assassinate an Emperor at her own tea party, runs away and takes out a completely different Emperor while letting his buddies deal with the first one. Here’s his crew:

a woman who studies ancient deadly superweapons and blew up six ships when she was eight

actual royalty

a world-famous rock musician

an 8ft-tall cyborg

a cat burglar who controls the weather

some kind of fish monster

also he has a pet raccoon or something and apparently feeds it cotton candy

but in every photo, he's just some little fucker in jean shorts with a huge smile on his face? oh, and his other brother is Ché Guevara. absolutely buckwild. how do you cope

One Piece Timeline

To keep track of events as I read along.

10 years ago: The first chapter of the Manga: Shanks arrives at the village and stays for about a year, Luffy eats the Gomu Gomu devil fruit. We meet Luffy, Shanks, his crew, Makino, Higuma (Dies), the mountain bandits and the village chief.

9 years ago: Zoro and Kuina make their promise, Kuina later dies falling down some stairs

2 years ago: Coby gets captured by the Albida pirates when he gets into the wrong

9 days ago: Zoro saved a little girl before she got killed by Elmeppo's dog and got tied up to a pole in the courtyard of the Marine base.

****** Beginning of the storyline *****

Day 1

Chapter 2: - -We meet Coby, Albida and their pirate crew. -Luffy almost gets sucked into a whirlpool and jumps into a barrel to escape. -Luffy defeats Albida and takes Coby to fulfil his dream of becoming a Marine.

Chapter 3: -We meet Zoro, the little girl he saves, Helmeppo, scared marines and villagers, -Luffy hears about a captured pirate hunter named Zoro and decides to recruit him. -Everyone seems afraid of the names Zoro and Lieutenant Morgan. The marine is actually a tyrant on the Island. Zoro wants to stay tied up to the pole for a month to fulfil his promise. -In the village, Helmeppo reveals that he wants to execute Zoro in 3 days and Luffy makes up his mind to recruit him.

Chapter 4: -We meet Axe Arm Morgan. -Luffy goes back to Zoro and finds out where his swords are. -Morgan orders the execution of the little girl Zoro saved. -Luffy swings up the tower and breaks Morgan's statue, takes Helmeppo hostage and looks for the swords -Coby tries to free Zoro but gets shot

Chapter 5: - Zoro and Coby are facing execution - Luffy finds Zoro's swords - Zoro has a flashback of his youth with Kuina - Luffy jumps in front of Zoro and Coby, stopping the bullets and saving them both, Zoro accepts Luffy's offer to join the crew

Chapter 6: - Zoro announces his goal of becoming the best swordsman in the world and the marines/Morgan are defeated with teamwork

Chapter 7: - They eat, say goodbye to Coby, and leave for the Grand Line.

Hypothetical Night. Day 2

Chapter 8: -We meet 3 Buggy pirates, Nami, -Luffy tries to catch a bird for food but it grabs him and takes him to an island -Chasing after the bird, Zoro beats up 3 pirates who try to rob him and heads towards the island -Nami stole the boat of three pirates with her schemes -Luffy lands on the island, and meets Nami -who calls herself a pirate thief

I just remembered the part of One Piece where Brook becomes a rock star and his managers tip off the Marines he’s actually Brook the Pirate because they’re pissed at him for wanting to retire. This is so funny because:

imagine finding out your favourite pop star is actually a dead criminal. Like what if we found out Macklemore had been Al Capone this whole time

imagine being the guy who has to call up the government and convince them their favourite rock star is actually a pirate who died 50 years ago and came back to life as a skeleton

imagine being the Marine to take that phone call

Manager: I am telling you, the musician you know as Soul King is actually the pirate “Humming” Brook!!

Marine: *rummaging through wanted posters for a long time* Uhhhhh, sorry but according to our records, Brook has… skin. And is like 90 years old.

Manager #2: He ate a Devil Fruit that let him die and come back as a skeleton!

Marine: Um. *covering the phone with his hand* Can Devil Fruits make you come back from the dead as a skeleton?

Other Marine: I don’t know. Probably.

Marine: *into the phone* We’ll be right over.
