playing multilingual/multi-era scrabble (I don't want to hear any scrabble purists get pissed at me, this was just for funsies, please don't end me) is one HELL of a time cause you got someone arguing you can't use old shakepsearean English cause there was no common alphabet, you got another person saying you CAN use old English but you have to use the pre-Beowulf era English cause there IS a proper alphabet used for the translation, someone who speaks German and someone who speaks Dutch are both about ready to pull knives on each other, someone who knows all the Gaelic and Gallic dialects is happily creating words out of thin air, EVERYONE is double checking any word that anyone claims is French, and the one person who knows Latin is just happy to be there.
