stormlight archive book six should open with at least one of its cast inexplicably having transed their gender, no explanation given. ideally it would be lift but if we got a random chapter opening on "kaladin was enjoying being the first herald in history to have no gender" or "the king of alethkar, formerly the queen of alethkar" then i would still be happy

A few years ago I designed herald statues for a hallway in the Kholinar palace as part of a fan project. Last autumn Dragonsteel and Brotherwise asked me to render them more fully for the Stormlight RPG world guide and the Stonewalkers campaign.

It’s rare that I make cosmere fan art with any type of analogue medium, but it‘s been a refreshing change of pace between commissions.

some step by step images below the cut !

Step 1: sketch on tracing paper

Step 2: applied oxidised silver leaf on paper, then carved the sketch on top of it with the tracing paper from the first step

Step 3: applied more details by adding another color of oxidized silver leaf as well as burnt copper and gold leaf

Step 4: line art with waterproof ink

Step 5: the part in which you finally paint

Step 6: last layer; this time it’s silver leaf for the wisps of stormlight.

No more steps! It’s done. 🤲
