I seriously think this whole song is about the conversation Harry and Zayn had before he left. I’m sorry. But zayn saying in that 'leaving 1D’ interview that he just got up and bounced is seriously a joke 😂 😂 😂. I think they had a heartfelt conversation and the words “Do you believe I’ll never be too far”. Could relate to because his leaving would their relationship still be the same? Or with where ever they are in their new careers and whatver they are doing. Does Harry think that Zayn would still have their support and never be too far from them. (I dunno that’s how I saw it. Hope I’m making sense.)

If Zayn is ever lost and he doesn’t know what the next step in his life or career is… He always knows that Harry will have his back and be with him. And that is what Harry is trying to explain to him in this song.

The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye. Means we’ve already won.

Goodbye obviously meaning when they had this conversation (which is the whole song) of saying goodbye to eachother. I dunno what the last part means though? Already won what? All I can interpretate this as they have 'already won’ in the sense that 1D has been as big as it could be, they have had 4 years being OT5 and doing stuff together so now they can say goodbye and Zayn can do his own thing? All is good.

Zayn could of probley said he was sorry for leaving the bad and why he was leaving and such. But Harry is just reassuring him that it’s all OK and he understands.

Yesterday I went out to celebrate the birthday of a friend. But as we raised our glasses up to make a toast. I realized you were missing.

Everyone knows that Zayn didn’t make it for Harry 21st birthday (god knows why) and this was leading up to the weeks of zayn departure from the band. Everyone went but zayn and Harry might be rembering how they hurt him….

Yeeeeahhh. He could of hid the fact it was his birthday to not make it that obvious but (to us fans) it kinda was. We figured out who he was talking about 😉 😉. Oorrrrr it could of been any of the boys birthdays and Harry could of looked around and saw Zayn wasn’t there for the first time. It can go here or there who knows…

He will always be there for him regardless of what happend between them. Like always!
