How do I stay vegan?
A lot of people who are meat eaters ask me how I remain a vegan after a long period of time and I have to admit that it’s not an easy answer.
The truth is that being vegan isn’t something you can just do on a whim, it’s actually something you need to convince yourself that you are willing to do for the rest of your life. Some people say that it’s easier to switch to vegan food and not think about it too much, but I don’t know how you actively ignore the fact that you’re eating an entirely new diet and shopping for all that food.
The way I keep to it is simple to me because I am an animal lover: I don’t want to eat beautiful animals. Plus, I love to cook. But what if you are don’t fall into this same camp?
The trick to staying vegan is creating a 2-week meal plan. This way you don’t get sick of the same thing over and over while also developing a habit and schedule. Sticking to the schedule can be difficult without writing it down, so making your shopping list should be part of the process, this way you always have your vegan meal plans on the brain!

Did I mention how I love Cajun Food?
It’s not easy to explain why I develop the fetishes that I develop, but cajun food is one of them and you would totally agree if you saw the dishes my roommate from New Orleans makes on a daily basis. It’s basically a path to heaven and that is why I’m so grateful to have her. It’s not because she’s an awesome gal or anything :P
One of the best dishes she makes is a jambalaya with turkey sausage. The sassafras spice is an added plus that not everyone uses, but she uses it as taught to her by a cajun caterer she used to work for. She now works for a caterer in Brooklyn, NY and they were quite impressed when she first introduced them to her recipe.
Another dish she makes is a cajun salmon pasta that is to die for. Literally, I would die to have that right now as I’m typing this (stuck in the hotel fo the night! But I digress...). The last time I had it, I didn’t even need to eat for another 24 hours because I was so full and so satiated. It was wonderful!
She is not teaching me how to become a cajun caterer because I already have experience in the catering industry as a sous chef. I’ve learned how to make 3 types of gumbo and 4 jambalayas already!

The Sad Short Lifespan of Great Danes
When I first saw a Great Dane in person, I was floored by its size and had an instinctual reaction to tense up that there was a humongous beast headed by way. But what seemed like a scary monster at first turned out to be a very friendly creature who just wanted to share the love. Sadly, these large animals have very short lifespans.
There had been a few famous big dogs in recent years, such as Titan, Giant George and the latest record breaker for tallest dog Zeus from Otsego, Michigan, but unfortunately they are all now passed on due to their health deteriorating fast at the young age of 8 years old. Most causes of death for great danes are in the realm of heart disease and cancer.
Most big dogs like Giant George die from typical diseases that affect Great Danes, such as Hip Dysplasia or Bloat-Gastric Torsion, both of which can cause malnutrition and other related illnesses. The hard part about raising a dog in the first place is making sure they don’t eat the wrong things, so it’s pretty easy to spot when they’re having eating problems because not eating isn’t a dog thing in the slightest!
When Great Danes are healthy, they aren’t typically rowdy, but rambunctious is a better way to describe it, and only when they’re young. When they reach middle age to full on adulthood, they exhibit a calmness and charisma that many dog owners envy in a pet. Giant George was a beautiful dog.
