Part 2 of my grey and Mando pajama/nightgown project. Part 1 here.

For a modesty panel, I marked the corners of where I wanted the triangle to land. Because the garment was so loose, it was a guessing game, so I marked it on the mannequin (closest to how it would fall when I was wearing it) before drawing lines to complete the pattern. I cut a piece out of my Mando fabric and hemmed the exposed edge before pinning it to the pajamas inside-out. I sewed on the right side, over the seams that already existed, which worked perfectly.

Unfortunately the final result is still kinda loose, which I'm not sure if it's a fitting issue or if it would be better if I had interfaced the fabric. But the tiddies no longer risk freedom and it's not like I'm wearing this outside of my house, so I'm chalking it up as a learning experience for next time and calling it a day.

I thought I was in the home stretch of just finishing the bottom with bias tape binding but I was literally just three inches short. Luckily, it turns out it's super simple to make your own bias tape. I cut up more of the Mando fabric, folded it and ironed. I sewed it on both corners of the hem so it looked more on purpose but I could not get it lined up with the blue so it still looks jankety lol. But the whole thing has a ~charming patchwork~ vibe so it works, and again it's not like I'm wearing this outside the house.

I wore the finished garment last night and it's super comfy and soft, like an old t-shirt, so I'm glad I used thrifted sheets for this project. Next is making another out of the green sheet!

Skirts are on pause now because later this month I am finally achieving my dream of ✨getting spayed✨ but I realized everything I usually wear has a waistband, which I won't want, so I'm making some nightgowns.

I hit up the Goodwill down the block and found some nice soft jersey sheets (since this is a time sensitive project and I don't have time to do swatches, risk getting something I don't want from an online store, etc). The grey and green will be my new nightgowns and the starry sheet is a cotton that's going to be a lovely skirt later.

My mom had the perfect pattern in her stash and because it's so loose, it still works for me even though Mom was half my width lol. It's super simple which is great too. The pattern calls for lace embellishments but I am not into lace and still trying to use up what I have (mostly). So I found some blue bias tape and my Mandalorian fabric I got a bolt of when Joann's closed... and then found the pair of pajama shorts I made that ripped not along a seam, so I hadn't decided to repair them or reuse them yet. Reuse it was, and the seam on one of the leg ends was perfect for the collar! I cut up the shorts on the seams and it was perfect.

Unfortunately I forgot to add in side pockets while I was working, and didn't want to seam rip, so I just decided to make a patch pocket to better show off the Mando print, use up my shorts fabric, and to be lazy. Sewing that on and finishing the sleeves and hem, and I will be done via the pattern. I'm just going to use bias tape instead of a proper hem or using lace as the pattern instructs. Ever since I learned how to use bias tape binding on my Éowyn bodice it's been my favorite because it's so easy yet looks so good.

As you can see though, one wrong move and my tiddies will be out as it is right now, so I will be adding a modesty panel (another chance to use up Mando fabric). Then I can move on to the green nightgown (which will definitely have a shallower neckline lol).

The project in question I keep making mistakes on lol

I originally bought this fabric for a table runner but it's too pretty, I had to make it a skirt. Since it looks ocean like I paired it with my college dorm room decorative fish fabric as the edges.

I used this tutorial for making a handkerchief skirt (basically making a square skirt instead of a circle one) but ofc since it was my first time this project is full of mistakes (from me being a dumbass, not the tutorial). First the hole for me in the middle of the skirt was too small. Then I cut it again and now it's too big. Then I decided I wanted a wide waistband, so I added some gathering stitches to my too-big skirt, gathered it a bit, and sewed it onto the waistband.

The trim on the bottom was easy, just cut long strips of fabric and added them on the bottom. For the corners, I've had my eye on this trim forever even when it was at Joann's, but it's too damn expensive to trim all four yards of the skirt the whole way around, so I think putting little triangles of it in the corners will be pretty, like seafoam.

I do kind of wish I'd lined it because the handkerchief hem means you can see the inside of the skirt with seams and everything, but oh well. This was a good learning experience. I definitely think I will save more handkerchief skirts for flowier fabrics than cotton, though, and keep my cotton for circle skirts.

New skirt! Remember that rough draft of my Boba But Make It Fashion dress part of the cosplay? It's finally a proper skirt. (Despite the poll I decided to keep it plain, because I need to revamp my work wardrobe and adding more skirts is part of the plan.)

Otherwise everything else is on hold as The Great Reorganization of my stash occurs. I am inheriting Mom's stash which will double mine at least and... I have so much. I need to donate some, or at very least reorganize so I can start properly using up what I have.

This is like....maybe a quarter of it.
