July spread I forgot to post here. It's inspired by trip to Lviv and somberness of Lychakiv cemetery. Unfortunately, just yesterday russia attacked this beautiful city (and also Sumy, Kryvyi Rih and others), leaving many casualties and wiping out almost an entire family. Every day of this week we mourn war victims (starting from absolutely horrible strike on Poltava that claimed lives of 55 people), but ruthless attacks keep coming.

The lyrics here are from the song Забавка - Смерть and they roughly translate like this

But what crushes me inside is the fact that so many children in Ukraine will never know what it is like to grow up simply because they won’t live long enough to experience it. There are images and videos of a ten year old child's murdered body being tenderly and lovingly removed from the rubble of her home by first responders. I just reblogged a picture of her, alive with her family.

Now, only the father of the family remains alive.

I will not reblog the images of her dead for various reasons, but I won't discourage looking for them.

I do want to talk about it, though.

I want to emphasize how gently and carefully they lifted her body and placed her on a tarp carried by half a dozen people. They treated her like a treasure. I can't fully express the solemn kindness portrayed. The tenderness. The love.

I want the world to understand that this is humanity. This is the correct and normal way to handle the body of a murdered child.

I need the world to understand that it is not normal to target civilians. It is not normal to target children. It is not normal. It is, in fact, a war crime.

Putin has been doing this for years. Do not let the fact that he has been doing this for years trick you into thinking of it as normal. Do not let Putin's Russia normalize this.

He murdered another child. He wants to murder more.

Do not forget Ukraine.
