a list of compromises offered by tony during cacw:
we agree to this now or it’ll be done to us later
we don’t have to follow shield or hydra, but we should follow the UN
i just want steve as part of the team, let’s come to an agreement and we can forget all this bad blood
wanda has to be in a prison or contained, and i’d rather put her up in a house where she can be comfortable and kept company by vision until i can have her reinstated
i’ll admit bucky to a psychiatric facility in the US where he can be cared for and kept safe
sign the accords now for show, and we can amend all the details later
i believe you that bucky is innocent and that zemo is behind this, and i’m coming to help you to fight him even though you didn’t trust me enough to explain any of this

So it's not anger that keeps him from contacting Steve. Not really. Because Steve lied to him, Steve took his money and his tech for years and lied to him. Steve berated him about Ultron and knew the truth and lied to him anyway. From most perspectives, Tony's perfectly within his rights to be pissed at Steve for all eternity. But even that mad craze that seized him in Siberia, that wasn't righteous. It was just pain. And it disappeared the moment Steve did, leaving Tony in the dirt.
He still feels it under his nails sometimes, the dirt and blood and snow.
It isn't anger. It's the way Steve looked at him. "Did you know?" "Yes." And Steve, glorious, righteous Captain America, stared at Tony, jaw tight, chin tilted up, eyes defiant. It's the expression that had crossed Steve's face when he broke the reactor. Pained, yes, but so resigned. Like he couldn't have stopped this from happening. Like what he did to Tony was an acceptable loss.
And he did. He did something to Tony, and not once did he care. He did it without thinking. It didn't plague him at night, it never stopped him from meeting Tony's eyes. Tony's feelings never once occurred to Steve as something that mattered, and when it finally came to haunt them all he tried to keep lying. It doesn't make Tony feel angry, it makes him feel like nothing. Like he is the dirt beneath Steve's boots, like a truth that belonged to Tony more than anyone else was an inconvenience.
I was trying to protect myself, Steve had written, and it had carved out Tony's heart. Not even Captain America had spared a thought for saving Tony Stark.
If you haven’t read this amazing fic by aslightstep, you’re seriously missing out!

Just thought a visual of the emotional, physical and down right traumatic pile of crap Tony Stark has been wading through in the MCU might be nice. (Especially for those who seem a little fuzzy on how much it really has added up to over the years)

Everyone: nice!
Tony Stark: *brings peter parker to what he doesn't think will turn into a fight, designs him a safer suit just in case, tells him to keep his distance and web people up, sends him home the second he takes a hard hit*
Everyone: i can't believe Actual Villain™ tony stank blackmailed poor innocent peter into being his Actual Child Slave™

Tony Stark - the scapegoat or only villain?
I’ve been wondering about this for a while so I’m posting this thought as more of a question or start of a platform for discussion…
Many people in fandom calls out Tony Stark as willing participant of the death of Pietro and Wanda Maximoff’s parents, that because it was his missile etched with his name, that makes him the one responsible, that makes it justified for Wanda and Pietro to blame Tony.
Yet, Tony wasn’t the one to fire the missile, he wasn’t the one who sent it to hurt Wanda and Pietro’s parents or leave them orphans.
In fact, we are never even told who used the weapon, we are never told if it was the US government or simply terrorists. We are never given a face of who gave the order yet all the blame has centered on Tony Stark alone, as if it was only himself. Is that really fair? Is that even the truth?
If someone is killed by a gun, do you blame the specific gunman who’s responsible or do you only go after the company that made that specific gun?
If someone is killed by a knife, do you blame the person who used the knife or do you only lay the blame at the company who made the specific knife?
If someone is killed by a car, do you blame the person who did the hit and run or do you only lay the blame at the company that made the specific car?
At what point do you draw the line? At what point does it make it justified to go after someone who made a weapon than the person who actually wielded that weapon with the intent to hurt someone?
If we as society pin the crimes on the individual or individuals who actually committed the crimes and not just general branding of all companies and their CEOs evil, then is it fair for fandom and even Wanda and Pietro, to make Tony the sole bad guy in this when it was either the US government, or some other government, or even terrorists who used Tony’s tech to hurt people?
Is Tony Stark then not simply just a face, a mere scapegoat for people to direct their anger when they can’t go after governments or terrorists who were really responsible? Is he simply not just an easy target to blame?

You’ve been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint, “rescuing” Wanda from a place she doesn’t even want to leave, a safe place!
