Rumor has it that Tony used to be a member of New Versailles, but left to make his fortune off the backs of the working man... or was he kicked out? Although they don't hit it off at first, Steve and Tony must work together.

They have some help. The Three Fates are women who control information. Steve's friends from his old life are good people on the fringes of society because of their prosthetic enhancements. And there's Tony's network of resources and connections, not to mention his brilliant engineering mind that helped him build his empire.

But when Steve and Tony finally manage to put their differences aside and rise up against New Versailles... not everything is as simple as it seemed.

There were theories of course, of what The Captain would look like. Most followed the typical Hollywoodesque belief that he was some version of the Godfather, sitting in a dark room with a cigar, commanding his forces with a flick of his wrist. There were even some that even thought that The Captain was not one person, but a whole network of people with eyes and ears everywhere.

The blonde Adonis in front of him was definitely not what Tony was expecting.

Of course, in the end it didn’t matter.

There was a reason no one knew what The Captain looked like.

Because anyone who saw his face never lived to tell the tale.

New villains are on the rise, pushing the team ever closer to their limits.

It isn't long after the team starts to fall apart that Peter goes missing.

Summary: Tony is an asshole and Steve may be a little bit in denial. Tony is Alpha and Steve is, well, not really Alpha but that is a secret. This is a long suffering path from hate to love. In a world where gender defines your life, where biology controls your body, Steve is trying to figure out who he is and what he wants from life.

It was supposed to be funny but it turned out very angsty.

Summary: “Thank you. You're wonderful.” He says, and he means it. Tony looks away, hands drumming along the lab table nervously. Steve stares at his hands, and suddenly everything makes perfect sense. It's a nervous gesture so like Iron Man's that first day Steve woke up in this strange new world. An empty suit. Bruises with an explanation that just seems phoned in. Tony exhausted and aching but still working, funding the Avengers through his own pockets. Tony keeping untold secrets close, brown eyes wide and filled with something unspeakable in the hallway, leaning away from Steve's arms instead of into them. If it's true then Steve's in even more trouble than he already thought he was.

Dangerous does not even begin to describe Tony Stark. He thinks, even in his own mind he sounds resigned.

In which the world at large does not know Tony Stark is Iron Man, and Steve falls for him harder than a bag of bricks anyway.

Summary: Steve has always believed that a soulbond is a blessing -- a rare and beautiful miracle, joining the thoughts and feelings of two people forever, from the first time they touch. Then Steve wakes up sixty years in the future to find that his wonderful life has moved on without him. His family is long dead. His fiancée married his best friend. And the only purpose he has left is leading the Ultimates, a misbegotten team of superheroes with flaws too numerous to count. Steve hates everything about the future -- but most of all he detests Tony, flashy and flirtatious, who embodies everything Steve hates about a world he never wanted to live in.

And, oh, yeah, Steve has a soulmate after all: Tony fucking Stark.

Spanning the entirety of the MCU , this fic covers a canonical view of what it would be like if Peter was Tony's biological son dwelving heavily into the canon. AU post-Infinity War with an AU version of Endgame and with a Stony endgame.

LIST OF THE BEST FANFICS OF ALL TIME (according to me)

Since we are in quarentine and because of that I’ve reverted to my 2014 tumblr self and have started indulging in fanfics again, and since I’ve read ALOT of them, I decided to make a list and compile the best fanfiction I have ever read. This list is not in any type of ranking or affiliated to one specific fandom, so it’s a bit of a mess. (I will also direct you to the author’s AO3 page, and tumblr if I can find it).

Why do I think this fics are the BEST of the BEST? Well, either, they could be turned into a book and become a best seller by simply changing names, or I think the author has a HUGE potential in becoming a published author. 

Also if you guys think there are fics that are on the level of this ones please PLEASE rec them to me, I don’t care what fandom they are from.

THINGS HAVE GOTTEN CLOSER TO THE SUN by Starseas

Fandom: One Direction Pairings: Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne/Zayn Malik Genre/tags: Future fic, end of the world AU Rating: Mature Words: 49k   Summary:  When a solar flare is announced to end the world in twelve days, Harry reunites with the people that he used to know better than the back of his own hand.

Notes: I no longer read fanfiction involving real people, but this still remains on being one of the best fics I’ve ever read so I had to put it here. So, first of all, I LOVE this author, I used to follow her on tumblr and read everything she published. If I’m not mistaken her tumblr is deserted and she hasn0t posted anything in a long time, but I sincerily hope that she decided to move to writing and publish original works. Second of all, this fic is phenomenal, she somehow manges to portray a sense of despair under the whole romance plot. I cried in the end.

IRREPARABLE by aslightstep (WIP, abandoned?)

Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Pairings: Tony Stark/Steve Rogers Genre/tags: Fix it Fic, Canon compliant Rating: General Audiences Words: 131k Summary: Forgiveness is a journey, or so Tony was maybe told a long time ago. Notes: Ok, I know I shouldn’t be recommending any abandonded works, but I am recommending this one anyway because the characters depiction are on point!! Tony’s stuborness really shows and it’s all so... realistic? Like it could have actually happened in the comics or in the MCU. It’s a beautiful slow burn, like extremely slow burn, and I just wish the author didn’t left it behind.

THE KUBBLER-ROSS THEORY by antivenom

Fandom: The Amazing Spiderman, Deadpool Pairings: Gwen Stacy/Peter Parker, Peter Parker/Wade Wilson (barely)  Genre/tags: Drama, Canon compliant, Grief Recovery Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Words: 80k Summary: Peter deals with a loss that immobilizes him and permeates through every drawn breath. In which his grief is a visceral abstraction that he can touch, that he can feel. And in which, with a little help, with time, with acceptance, with anger, with sadness, with Wade, he learns how to live in a world without her.

Notes: The way this author describes and deals with the subject of grief is so real. It’s amazing the way she portrays Peter way of coping with his guilt, her death, and everything in his life. It is incomparable to any other fic or BOOK I have ever read. Also this is the first part of a series, so I’d definitely read it if you are into really good slowburn Spideypool.

BRIGHT HAIR ABOUT THE BONE by MissDisoriental

Fandom: Hannibal (TV) Pairings: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter Genre/tags: A/B/O Dynamics, case fic Rating: Explicit Words: 484k Summary: In a world where omegas are little more than trophies to be bought and sold, Will Graham has done the unthinkable by escaping a forced bonding. Already in high demand as a profiler, Will's determined to find freedom on his own terms. For Hannibal Lecter the outlook is far more straightforward: a slow, systematic seduction of the most uniquely captivating omega he's ever encountered. Notes: Yes, this fic is half a million words, no I don’t regret staying awake two days in a row just to finish it. Also, yes, I know it’s ABO. I usually don’t read ABO because I don’t like mpreg, but I made an exception for this one because it’s just that good. The way this author writes is so in sync with the series vibe. The descriptions, the way Hannibal speaks and acts, the way Will goes about the situation, this is just amazing.

TWIST AND SHOUT by gabriel and standbyme (@chubbyhawke)

Fandom: Supernatural Pairings: Castiel/Dean Winchester Genre/tags: 60′s AU, War Rating: Explicit Words: 97k Summary: What begins as a transforming love between Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak in the summer of 1965 quickly derails into something far more tumultuous when Dean is drafted in the Vietnam War. Though the two both voice their relationship is one where saying goodbye is never a real truth, their story becomes fraught with the tragedy of circumstance. In an era where homosexuality was especially vulnerable, Twist and Shout is the story of the love transcending time, returning over and over in its many forms, as faithful as the sea.

Notes: Obviously you don’t need an introduction to this one being that it’s the 2nd most kudosed work in AO3 and the most famous fanfiction in the Supernatural fandom. This fic BROKE me, like, actually full on sobbing BROKE me (my dad thought I was about to have a panic attack). It’s an understatement to say I recommend it. I don’t know where this authors are but I sincerly hope they become published one day.

MURDER WITH THE DEVIL AND FRIENDS by MindfulWrath (@mindfulwrath)

Fandom: Achievement Hunter, Rooster Teeth Pairings: Micheal Jones/Ryan Haywood Genre/tags: Western AU, Fake AH crew AU, Murder Mystery, horror Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Words: 205k Summary: Deputy Michael's been working in the little shithole town of Achievement City for a little over a year now. Things have been pretty decent so far (apart from that one creepy coworker), but they're about to get a lot more interesting, and a lot more dangerous.

Notes: Remember when I said i no longer read fanfics about real people? Well, this is, yet again, the exception. This fic just kept popping on my dashboard and after the 8th time I saw it I decided “fuck it”, and opened the link.  Also, remember when I said this ranking isn’t in any specific order? I lied because this is my favorite fanfiction of all time, and I think it’s the best one out there. This fic just get’s under your skin. You feel that somethings wrong from the begining, the mood it sets in just the first paragraph pulls you in and doens’t let you go until it’s done. I have NEVER got so much into any book or fanfic like I have gotten lost in this one. How is it possible that I manage to hate and love Ryan so much in this depiction of him?  This is also the first part of a trilogy called Devil’s Clockwork, and the rest is just as good as this one. Mindfulwrath, I hope you are reading this, and I hope you know how good of a writer you are, and I hope you publish some day, I’ll be the first one to buy anything you publish.

Volume six is probably my favorite just because of the deep dive in Akis psyche. God love Asami, but he’s a bit of a brick so Ive never quite gotten the fascination with him outside of his relationship with Akihito. This volume is the best for that.

Yes! This is, on one level, a story of Aki’s sexual awakening, and I love that sensei took the risk of giving over so much real estate, a whole volume to this subtle aspect of it, to let it build organically up to that one scene. It’s goddamned cinematic, you can hear the click and see the bloom of illumination as Asami turns on the lights, revealing Aki huddled on his floor. It’s a hold-your-breath moment, Asami in his stocking feet padding cautiously across the room for fear of startling this creature who has come to him at last. 

And Aki’s down there, struggling with his demons while the biggest demon of all hovers over him, waiting for his benediction, Aki’s torments and doubts laying bare the demon’s own insecurities, as the camera moves in on those tight close-ups and Asami asks--he ASKS--”But you’ll never leave me, right?” 

I gotta admit that the mother in me responds to insecurity like that, this little glimpse of humanity in all that darkness. This is the best of Asami: that he not only desires Aki but he desires him because he values what Aki is. 

I do get why people find him hotter than hell, though, because sweet Jesus, this is so damned hot. Again, it’s so visceral, you can hear the shiff of the silk as it slides against itself, smell his cologne, feel his breath as he moves in for the kill:

hmmm, I used to LOVE s/tony before CACW. I mean fics were just great so that really made me like the pairing but after what they did with steve in that movie… It left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. 

Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…

Instead of destroying the extremis arc-line i would have left it alone if they didn’t want to make Tony a pseudo super human. Instead of making him, a guns and projectiles manufacturer, act like he can’t shoot a gun (in IM3) I WOULD HAVE SHOWCASED HOW GOOD OF A MARKSMAN HE IS LIKE THEY SHOWED IN CACW I’m still so salty about IM3 help me

hmmm loki, for me. I love him as a villain but whenever people ship him with others they try to show that what he did wasn’t wrong and that that he’s just misunderstood and I always end up like ????

This is a must read for any Tony fan! It. Is. Amazing! Not gonna lie it's Wanda centric, but if you love the whole wishing someone didn't exist trope then this is definitely the fic for you. 

I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but basically Wanda wishes Tony Stark doesn't exist because he's the cause of all her problems right? Well she soon finds out how wonderful​ a world without him is not.

It's a work in progress, but there's seven chapters currently posted.

All in all an amazingly satisfying read. 10 out of 10 would read again.

This took me a few minutes to think over, but I settled on “Pyriscence” as my most on-brand fic. It’s set in the era that I wrote the most fics for—post-IW—which never fails to tickle me because shortly after watching that movie, I said that I wasn’t sure I had any story ideas. I was wrong! It also features many of my favorite themes and writing approaches: deep yearning, the aftermath of loss, the ache that comes from missing someone you pushed away because of your mistakes, profoundly unshakeable faith in a person who changed your life, character and relationship studies, reconciliation, commitment to sharing the work needed to make a relationship flourish, Steve and Tony viewing each other as the embodiment of hope even in the darkest of times, and the idea that when all is lost, not all is actually lost. TL;DR, angst but hope in rebuilding. It also has a good rhythm (something I feel is harder to keep up with a longer fic) and contemplative, visual language, which I consider my style!

Off-brand...there are several good answers for this, all for different reasons, but I’ll go with “Rushing Headlong in the Wrong (Right) Direction.” Starting from the title itself, which I’m ambivalent about, it’s a departure from my usual writing. It’s almost entirely fluff! It has more humor and hijinks! It’s ridiculous—which makes sense because it’s AvAc. I never imagined myself writing something like this. I’m not particularly known for any of these things so I don’t know if I pulled it off, but hey, I tried something new!

For the last question, I’ll go with my recent favorite: “Breathing at the Same Time” by softanticipation. *chef’s kiss* PERFECTION. It stole my heart away. It is EVERYTHING I wanted from a post-Endgame Steve/Tony fic. Everything. Steve going on a road trip to find himself, Tony bringing Steve into his life by stepping into his life, mutual pining built on a decade of knowing each other, Steve and Tony needing each other and admitting that like adults, and Steve and Tony letting out all their hurt, feeling all vulnerable about how much they long for the other person, and finally talking things through maturely. That’s GROWTH. Also, softanticipation’s writing is so sublime and you feel everything so much. The world they built feels like a real world, and it feels like we got a peek into their lives, away from the “cameras” that is the movies if that explanation makes any sense.

But okay uhh, I'll just choose 5 (omg it's so hard) also, I'm a huge angst and dark fic lover with endings that don't necessarily end well + mind the tags pls

1. the good days by romanoff (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: what can i say about this fic that I have not already? This fic is so painful and I always reread this fic or honestly, any of romanoff's works when I need a good cry. I personally thought that they wrote depression really well in terms of showing how it hurts the people you love too, which is something that I personally feel I don't really see in other works. So 10/10 from me

2. Saudade by aslightstep (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: This was THE post-cacw fic for me back in 2016, and it honestly still is in my top 3 of post-cacw stevetony fics. I felt that this fic dealt with the fallout of civil war in such a realistic manner. It's basically a "not a love story but a story about love" trope. And BOIII, it's so painful reading it because Steve & Tony clearly love each other still despite everything, but love really isn't enough to make a relationship work sometimes

3. Parody of Illusions by Imperium (616!stevetony)

My Thoughts: Marvel just never follow up on their storylines huh, but anyways this fic imo NAILS 616!Steve's characterisation. This fic deals with the fallout of Hydra!Cap and Steve's thoughts surrounding it. It honestly felt more like a character study with stevetony elements of course

4. parthanatos by ooka (616!stevetony)

My Thoughts: another fic that felt more like a character study than a relationship-centric one, but this time it's tony-centric. this fic is a canon divergent fic that led to tony having to adjust in the future, with only steve as company because the others have died. I thought the writing was superb and i just felt Tony's frustration, helplessness and grief immensely throughout

5. Where Our Restless Monsters Sleep by Mizzy (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: everyone has their THE endgame fix-it fic, this is mine!! It's super long but it honestly did not feel like it. Not only did this fic felt like I was reading a published book with a fantastic plot and characterisations, it honestly felt like something that I can genuinely see happening 10 years (iirc?) in the MCU's future. Definitely a must-read!!!
