Orientalone why did you made merula a death eater because if you look at her in fifth year she's getting a lot better(admitting she feels sorry for beatrice, helping us train to fight rakepick, sticking up for us in knock turn alley and when ismelda tried to fight us and overall trying to get along with us) I don't think it makes sense for her to go back to being completely evil again in my opinion l don't think she'd fight against voldemort but l don't think she'd fight for him either.
A great question! I wrote the plot for this story way before Year 5 came out and before we started seeing a change with Merula. I know Jam City has an arc for Merula which I fully support and I know will be nice. But for my story, I wanted to fit in as many references and characters from the game so I made Merula and Ismelda death eaters and to give our “heroes” multiple noticeable faces as their enemies. In a way, my story is an AU to the main game and is intended to be a bit darker. But thank you for the question!

The End of the Mystery: Part 7 - A Time to Grieve and a Time to Fight
Summary: Time is running out for the gang as they try to hold off the evil army yet again. But with the evil Lee parents leading the charge, how long can they last?
Notes: Here's part 7 at last, apologies again for the long absence, university is keeping me busy but I will finish this story!
Warnings: Angst, Violence
A deep quake shook through the hallway as the gang turned to the sound of a muffled bang.
“They’ve broke through the gate. It’ll only be a matter of time before they reach us” Bill announced to the group as he felt the rubble for any loose parts. “We can keep the fight here, bottleneck them in this corridor” The ginger curse-breaker paused when he looked at all the dejected faces of his friends. Fleur placed a hand on his arm as she looked from the rest of the gang to her husband, her face plastered with worry. “Guys...” Y/N looked up towards Bill.
“Sorry Bill, just give us a minute...” Y/N soothed Penny as she wiped a tear from her eye. The Gryffindor leader looked over to Barnaby who continued to cradle Andre’s body in his arms, his tears falling onto the seeker’s stained uniform.
“We don’t have a minute...” The gang looked to Bill, their faces startled for a moment. “I’m sorry everyone, I know we lost a good man today and there’ll be time to grieve...but right now we have to get ready” The Weasley brother knelt down beside Andre’s body. “Andre wouldn’t want us to fall now, not after this...” He stood once more, drawing out his wand. “Voldemort’s not going to stop, that army out there are coming through here and it’s our job to keep them off the rest of the school’s back.” Rowan put their glasses back on and nodded to Bill.
“He’s right” They looked to Y/N who looked sadly between Rowan and Bill before rising up off the floor.
“Okay...” They sniffed as they recomposed themselves. Penny wiped away a tear as she followed suit. “We mourn later” Y/N turned to Barnaby. “Take Andre further into the school, I want him to be safe” They placed their hand on the dead man’s face as they caressed his cheek, giving Andre a final goodbye before Barnaby turned to head down the corridor.
“Alright then, let’s move some of the spare debris to make some cover. This hallway’s going to be a bottleneck, it’ll be easy to keep them in front of us but then again they’ve got a lot more numbers then us” Bill stated as he levitated some rocks towards one side of the corridor. Tulip pulled out her pair of sunglasses from her jacket pocket. She frowned as she saw one of the lenses had shattered. The red-head ungracefully threw them to one side as she joined Bill in preparing the corridor. It took no time at all until the corridor was fortified. Piles of rubble scattered along the corridor walls acted as cover for the brave defenders. Another large rumble through the castle alerted the gang towards the barricade.
“They’re almost here” Penny said, speaking in a low voice.
“How many more potions have you got left Pen?” Bill asked, stepping closer to her. Her eyes were slightly red from crying, her cheeks still damp. She looked down onto her belt and checked her satchel.
“Only...ahem” The blonde potioneer cleared her throat. “Only a few more”
“We’re low on numbers too, a lot of students got injured out there. There’s only a dozen or so left...” Tulip stated, looking back to some of the weary students. Y/N crouched down by a male student, who held his own leg in pain, blood dripped down onto the floor.
“This may hurt a bit...” Y/N drew out their wand and tapped it against his leg. “Ferula” With a wisp, bandages appeared from Y/N’s wand and wrapped themselves around the boy’s leg. With a sigh of relief, the student looked up at the auror.
“Thank you” Y/N placed a comforting hand on his shoulder before allowing him to be carried away by another student. They watched as the two students limped down the corridor before spying Barnaby heading his way back towards them. He stopped in front of Y/N, standing with them in the middle of the T-junction in the corridor.
“Is he safe Barnaby?” Y/N asked as the tall Slytherin caught his breath.
“Yeah...he’s safe...got him hidden in a classroom. No death eater’s gonna check there...” Barnaby looked at Y/N’s sad expression. “He fought bravely” Y/N nodded.
“I know, I just...he’s gone Barnaby...and he might not be the only one by the end of the night. Any one of us could go and I can’t bare the idea of my friends dying” Tears were forming in Y/N’s eyes. Barnaby quickly wrapped his arms around Y/N, enveloping them in a hug.
“We are all here because we chose to be here. We all knew the consequences. Andre knew the consequences. But we also know why we face those consequences. We remember what we’re fighting for. Andre wouldn't want us to stop.” The soothing Slytherin let go of Y/N, looking down at them. Y/N wiped the tears from their eyes and let out a long sigh
“I know...thanks Barnaby” Barnaby Junior poked out from its hiding spot and looked up at Y/N, making a squeaking sound. “You’re a very brave bowtruckle” Y/N chuckled as they wiggled their finger at the small woodland creature. Barnaby paused, staring at the rubble blockade to his right.
“Y/N, there’s something I should tell you...about the fight” Y/N looked curiously at the magizoologst.
“What is it Barnaby?”
“The two death eaters I was fighting, the two you saved me from...the one that killed Andre, he was...” A loud bang interrupted Barnaby. Everything happened so suddenly. A bright spell impacted the wall between them. Sparks rained down onto them. Bill’s yells seemed muffled and his arm seemed to wave in slow motion. Barnaby felt pressure on his chest as Y/N pushed him backwards. The world returned to normal once he was against the wall, his breathing heavy. Small stones chipped off the walls as spells continued to miss their targets. Y/N flicked their wand around the corner before swinging round to face Barnaby.
“Are you okay Barnaby?” They seemed to be yelling over the loud sounds of battle.
“Yeah...sorry I was caught off-guard” The Slytherin looked down at the wand in his hand, he didn’t even remember drawing it out.
“It’s okay, the bloody death eaters got through, almost got a lucky shot on us” Barnaby crawled round to the corner, peering to see the fight. Tulip and Penny stood towards the front, efficiently disabling the oncoming attackers from the safety of their small walls of cover, stunning them as they attempted to run at them. The evil forces had little cover, only relying on the small hole they had made in the barricade, forcing a few snatchers and death eaters in at a time. Bill crouched down by a barrier a few feet back from the front. His aim impeccable as he assisted the defence. Ben crouched down next to him, his face plastered with fear as he peered up from the barrier, attempting to get a shot off. Rowan and Fleur assisted some of the students who were also caught off-guard. Rowan held up their hands, casting a protective spell to shield Fleur as she helped students retreat out of sight. Barnaby watched as the old Beauxbaton helped a student hobble into the corridor opposite him.
“Come on Barnaby, they need our help” Y/N stood up but paused as Barnaby stood up, blocking them.
“Wait Y/N, I need to tell you. The man that killed Andre...he was my father” Y/N’s eyes widened.
“We...we fought your parents?!” Y/N shouted in shock. Barnaby gulped unsteadily.
“We’re fighting my parents” A yell from the corridor caused the two to spring into action. Running around the corner, Y/N slid towards Rowan’s side as Barnaby fired a spell at an attacker near Penny.
“Rowan! You alright?” Y/N asked as Rowan held their shoulder. The professor peered under their hand at their smouldering shoulder.
“Yeah just nicked me, no harm done” Their robe was singed at the shoulder. Rowan gave them a weak smirk, telling them not to worry too much. Y/N returned the expression.
“I’m getting overwhelmed here!” Tulip shouted back, fury on her face. She flicked her wand at a snatcher, his body flew back through the hole in the wall, knocking into some of the other minions. “Cover me!” The red-head ran backwards quickly as Penny and Bill gave her some covering fire. She rolled back down next to Barnaby’s cover. She huffed, looking at him. “It’s crazy up there!” She laughed slightly, her hair looked unkept and manic.
“Not to be negative but it seems like we’re already losing this fight” Barnaby stated as he launched another spell down the corridor.
“You’re not wrong” Tulip responded, looking around at their battle. “There’s just so many of them.” An explosion down the corridor silenced them. Bill covered his eyes as a cloud of dust drifted past him. Through the cloud appeared two death eaters, standing in the now bigger hole in the wall. A man and a woman smirked evilly at them. Their eyes landed on Barnaby.
“Hello son” Mr Lee said, his deep voice boomed through the hallway. Barnaby stood up into view, his grip tightening on his wand.
“I’m not your son anymore” The Slytherin stated boldly. His mother chuckled.
“No, I suppose you’re not, you’re a waste. You are all a waste” Mrs Lee crept slowly forward, her eyes meeting each of Barnaby’s friends. “Such talented wizards and witches, such strong magic courses through your veins. All wasted on filthy mudbloods and ill-placed faith.” Ben looked down, a mix of anger and sadness filled him. “All your efforts, all the struggle, it gets you nowhere. You’re just another obstacle for the dark Lord, your time shortens and you waste your last few moments fighting such a futile cause. It’s meaningless. This battle is meaningless. Your efforts are meaningless. YOU ARE ALL MEANIN...” A blast of light impacted against her chest as she flew backwards. Mr Lee watched in shock as his wife was knocked backwards. He quickly rushed to her side. The defenders looked back behind them. The sound of a pair of footsteps echoed through the silent hall as a woman held her wand up. Her pink hair shined like a beacon of hope. She smiled warmly to her friends.
“Wotcher gang” Tonks said, smiling cheekily. Her friends looked at her with a mix of shock and happiness.
“GET THEM!” Mr Lee’s booming voice echoed once again and the corridor snapped back into action. Spells barraged down the hall, prompting Tonks to take cover next to Tulip.
“I can’t believe your here!” Tulip gave Tonks a quick hug. “What about Teddy?” She looked sadly at the metamorphmagus for a moment.
“He’s safe with my mother. I just...I couldn’t stop thinking about Remus and all of you. This is where I belong. Fighting alongside you all.” Tonks gripped Tulip’s hand, squeezing it softly, prompting her to smile at her.
“Well it’s good to see you Tonks!” Y/N shouted from the other side of the corridor, Rowan waved at her nonchalantly.
“Good to see you too Y/N!” Tonks shouted back, a spell impacted on the wall above them, raining a bit of rubble onto them. “Have you seen Remus? I’ve been trying to find him, I heard from Aberforth that he was seen fighting Dolohov!”
“We saw him before the battle begun but we’ve been defending this entrance since then” Barnaby replied, firing his wand down the corridor once again.
“I need to go find him” Bill looked back towards her, listening into her conversation.
“Then go get him! We’re fine here!” The ginger Weasley shouted back to her, giving her a confident smile.
“But you don’t have nearly enough numbers to face them” Tonks nodded towards the dark army.
“Yeah, but that doesn't mean we're going to give up!” Penny shouted, chucking a potion towards the death eaters. The potion impacted onto the floor and a cloud of green enveloped some of the horde. Coughs and sputters erupted from the opposing force as more fell.
“Tonks” The pink-haired Hufflepuff met eyes with Y/N. “Go” Their smile was comforting and warm. She smiled back.
“Okay, good luck” As she swiftly crawled away. She felt a presence follow her. Turning she found her red-headed friend. “Tulip? What are...”
“I’m coming with you”
“No, you should stay and help them!”
“And leave you alone in this war? No, not a chance” Tonks looked worriedly at her. “Look, we find Remus and bring him back here, then we can give these guys more reinforcements” Tulip explained. Tonks’ expression softened.
“Okay” She whispered. “Let’s be quick” The two bounded off down the corridor, with hopes of finding Tonks’ dear husband.

The End of the Mystery: Part 6 - A Fighter’s Pride
Summary: The battle continues as Voldemort’s army throws more challenges at the HM gang. But every battle has its fallout.
Notes: The second part to the Battle at the Burning Pitch. Apologies for the long(ish) wait, my studies keep me from writing but I’m still very excited to finish this story!
Warnings: Angst, Violence
With a strong back hand to the face, Tulip groaned out in pain as she fell to the ground, a death eater stood over her.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Rowan guided their wand upwards as the death eater started hovering up into the air. His arms waved around in panic as he floated upwards.
"Orbis!" Y/N shouted, a blue whirlwind appeared around the enemy as he was quickly sucked into the ground below. His body was swallowed whole except for his head, which popped out of the dirt. "You okay Tulip?" Y/N helped the red-head up off the ground.
"Yeah thanks" She dusted herself off as she felt someone bump into them. Turning she saw Ben had backed into them, his eyes filled with terror.
"Ben what's..." Y/N, Tulip and Rowan followed Ben's gaze upwards as a shadow enveloped them. The ground shook beneath them as a large giant stared down at them. Its eyes glazed over, an angry frown on its face and a loose grey tunic hung over his pale green body. A horrid smell filled their nostrils as it raised its arm, a long wooden club in its hand, ready to attack.
"WATCH OUT!" Tulip shouted as she and Rowan dodged out of the way. Y/N quickly noticed Ben frozen in fear and pushed them aside, the large stick came crashing down onto the ground, barely missing them. Tulip and Rowan wasted no time to pelt the large beast with spells. Flashes of blue and red splashed the giant as it brought its arm up to shield its eyes from the colours. Even with the barrage of stunning spells, the giant was still relentless and swung its weapon down again towards Tulip. The red-head nimbly dodged again, dirt flew up and hit her in the face as the club indented the ground once again.
"Ben I need you to run around the giant and distract it." Ben looked at Y/N in shock.
"I...I can't"
"Yes you can" Y/N held their shoulders, shaking them slightly. "You can do this...for me, just a few seconds of bravery" Ben looked deep into their eyes.
"O...okay" He stammered as he clutched his wand and quickly ran towards the giant. The blonde Gryffindor made it to the other side of the beast who was still distracted by Rowan and Tulip. "Hey!" He fired a spell of red which bounced off the giant's head. It paused and slowly turned to face Ben. Y/N began to run but was caught off guard as a pair of arms were wrapped around their upper torso.
"Argh! No!" Y/N groaned as a snatcher grabbed them from behind, holding them in place. Y/N wiggled as they tried to escape their grasp. Meanwhile the giant stared down at Ben, the man's body shook with fear. Its arm slowly raised, club in hand. Ben watched, unable to move. Frozen in place. "Ben no!" Y/N continued to struggle. With a roar, the beast swung its club, the wooden weapon whipped through the air. Rowan quickly ran around the giant for a better shot.
"Depulso!" A red spark hit Ben and he was thrown out of the way. The club swung past his previous position but the follow-through clipped Rowan, throwing them backwards. Their body fell with a thud.
"ROWAN!" Y/N struggled even harder. Finding an opening, they flicked their wand once and raised it up over their shoulder. With another flick they aimed their wand at the snatcher's face. "Lumos Maxima!" A beam of bright light blasted the snatcher, he quickly released Y/N to cover his eyes as he was blinded. Y/N wasted no time to sprint towards the giant. As the beast roared in victory, Tulip ran up from behind and raised her wand upwards.
"Ascendio!" The red-head was launched upwards, above the giant. She landed around its neck, her legs dangling over its shoulders, as if she was riding it. The beast began to swing around wildly, eager to buck Tulip off. Its roars of frustration pierced her ears. The Ravenclaw quickly produced a brown ball from her pocket. She held her breath as she threw it down into the giant's mouth as it continued to roar. With a sudden gulp, the giant's eyes went wide, yellow fumes escaped out of his mouth and ears. It coughed as the smell of the dungbomb wouldn't escape his system. It frantically shook its head, trying to throw Tulip off. Y/N saw the opportunity and quickly placed their wand to their throat.
"ANDRE!" Their booming voice echoed through the battle, attracting the attention of the seeker. He quickly saw the situation and flew down towards the giant. He held out his arm as Tulip noticed his presence. She swiftly reached out to him as he flew past. Their hands connected and Tulip was dragged off of the giant's head. The beast stumbled, dazed by the smell and the motion of his swinging. Y/N's feet stomped hard on the ground as they dashed towards the giant, their breathing heavy, their legs burning. With a flick of their wand, they propelled themselves upwards with ascendio, flying up into the air above the giant. As they reached the peak of their launch, they thrust their wand downwards at the surprised beast. A large blast of red erupted from their wand, hitting the giant in the face. With a loud roar, the beast was forced down to the ground, its large body fell with a crash. Its large eyes closed, a trail of blood leaked out of their nose due to the immense pressure they experienced. Y/N landed next to it, they breathed heavily as they watched Tulip and Andre land near Rowan's body. Ben limped over, clutching his side.
"Rowan Khanna, hey Rowan Khanna" Tulip shook the professor, stirring them awake. They looked around drowsily.
"Did we get it?" They asked wearily as Y/N walked over.
"Yeah we got it friend" They offered their hand to Rowan who took it promptly, lifting them to their feet. Ben handed them their glasses, a large crack tarnished their spectacles.
"Thanks for saving me Rowan" Ben whispered nervously. Rowan inspected their glasses and pointed their wand at them, quickly repairing them.
"Don't mention it" Rowan muttered with venom in their voice. They huffed as they put their glasses back on and looked around at the fighting around them. "This is insane" The others looked around too. "There's so many of them, and more keep coming"
"Then we take them out too" Y/N stated confidently. "We just took out a giant for Merlin's sake, we can do this" Tulip and Andre nodded as well as Rowan, Ben still looked unsure.
"Hey guys, stop standing around!" Barnaby called out to the group nearby as he deflected a spell without looking. His attacker fell with a moan. Penny fought alongside him.
"Yeah, get fighting you lot!" The blonde potioneer threw another potion which prompted a loud bang and a bunch of groans. The four swiftly returned to the fight, firing curses at Lord Voldemort's army. The battle continued. Spells flew through the air as wizards and witches fought their hardest. The ground became littered in holes and mounds as the once pristine field became a war site. The defenders fought bravely but the evil army was relentless. Students flew through the air, their wooden brooms soaring through the sky. They fired down onto the battlefield, bombarding the snatchers and death eaters. A flash of green hit one of the fliers, their body went limp as their broom dived downwards, and they crashed to the ground. Lifeless bodies of students lay still on the ground. A snatcher cackled maniacally as he made the body twitch with the cruciatus curse. Barnaby's face was filled with determination as he flicked his wand, finishing another duel. The fallen snatcher lay on the ground. He was unable to react in time as a flash of green hit the student next to him. He watched as the young boy fell to the ground. The Slytherin turned to face the assailant, his piercing green eyes stared daggers at the death eater before him.
"Barnaby" His face softened as he heard the familiar woman's voice. The woman in dark robes waved her wand in front of her face, removing the death eater mask.
"Mum..." Barnaby's grip weakened on his wand. Tears started to well up in his eyes. He took a step towards his mother.
"CRUCIO!" Barnaby screamed out in pain as red lighting strikes his back. He doubled over and fell to the floor, pain and anguish spread through his bones. His body continued to twitch uncontrollably. The pain stopped as a man behind him stopped his torture and walked closer towards him. He breathed heavily as he looked up. The face of his father hovered above him.
"My son...my useless son...what are you doing here?" Barnaby groaned as he tried to pick himself up, his arms shook as he tried to lift himself up off the ground. His mother tutted as she waltzed over.
"He seems lost dear, like he's always been, our poor little Barnaby Lee" She skirted around her son's suffering body to stand next to her husband. Barnaby looked up at his parents. The death eaters who raised him. His voice shook.
"I..I..I'm saving my sch..school.." The Slytherin got up, trembling as he knelt in front of his parents. His knees seared with pain against the hard ground.
"Your school?! Is this the son we've raised?! This weak, pathetic man who would rather side with his school than his own parents!" Mr Lee hissed. His voice was thick with venom, Barnaby couldn't remember a time when his parents spoke kindly towards him.
"I'm not pathetic" Barnaby almost choked on his words as sadness and anger filled him.
"You are if you think you can win dear. This is your chance. Slytherin blood runs through your veins. Our blood runs through your veins. Join us son and we can end this suffering quicker" Barnaby's mother leaned down to her boy. Her hand caressed his cheek. Her green eyes met his as he leaned into her touch. For a moment his thoughts were filled with the future of a happy family but one that was overshadowed by the dark lord. Barnaby grabbed his mother's wrist and pushed it away.
"No" His parents' stare hardened. "I will never side with Voldemort! And as long as you continue to fight for him then I will have to fight you too!" His cries of bravery were interrupted as a hard slap burned into his cheek. His father's swift hand shook with anger.
"You really are a fool to think you could defeat the Dark Lord, let alone us!"
"Your defenses are weakened. Your numbers are low. Your castle shakes with our endless attacks and you kneel before us. Foolish boy. What makes you think you can still win?" His mother hissed at him. Barnaby weakly smirked at them.
"Because my friends have my back" Barnaby rolled to the side as a blast of red light hit his parents in the back, throwing them forward. Bill and Tulip stood with their wands raised, aimed at the two death eaters.
“You leave him alone!” Tulip shouted as Mr and Mrs Lee lay on the floor, looking up at their attackers angrily. A footstep behind them alerted them to Y/N. The two parents were surrounded but the devilish grin on their faces were unsettling. In a blink, the two of them whooshed upwards in a cloud of black smoke. They apparated around the defenders. Bill wasted no time to apparate towards one of the dark clouds. Their mixture of dark and light shot around the sky as the two struggled together. Meanwhile Mrs Lee apparated behind Tulip, slapping her to the ground. Tulip felt searing pain as the skin on her cheek broke, a smear of blood stained her face.
“If one more person slaps me, I’m going to get really mad!” The enraged red-head flicked her wand at the woman. A burst of blue flew towards the smug death eater and impacted against her swift protective charm. A duel broke out between Tulip and Ms Lee, they were locked in combat as spells were deflected and blocked. Y/N hurried over to Barnaby, kneeling next to them.
“Are you okay Barnaby?” Y/N helped pull the magizoologist to his feet as he got up off the ground.
“I’m okay, thanks Y/N” Barnaby held his side as he breathed in sharply. His eyes went wide. “WATCH OUT!” The Slytherin pushed Y/N aside as the black and white cloud whooshed into Barnaby, sending him back to the ground. The cloud dissipated as Bill rolled onto the floor. Mr Lee landed with a thud, smirking confidently. In one swift movement, he stepped onto Bill’s arm, pinning his wand hand down. The ginger curse breaker clenched his teeth in pain as the death eater looked over him.
“You fight for the wrong side Weasley!” Mr Lee hissed. Bill grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it up into his face. The evil father stumbled backwards as he rubbed the soil out of his eyes. “You’ll pay for that!”
“Funny” Mr Lee was propelled forwards once again as he was hit in the back with depulso. “I was about to say the same thing to you” Y/N looked sternly at the death eater, their wand aimed right for their head. Bill came to a stand and also aimed his weapon towards the man. With a roar, Mr Lee fired the killing curse towards the auror which they quickly dodged. “Expelliarmus!” A spark of red flew towards the death eater who swiftly deflected the spell. Bill and Y/N continued to barrage Mr Lee with a plethora of spells, all of them bouncing off his powerful protection charm. Seeing a window of opprtunity, the death eater flicked his wand towards Bill.
“Oppugno!” A volley of small stones and dirt pelted Bill before he could react, knocking him backwards.
“Bill!” Y/N continued to assault the dark wizard, making him madder and madder.
“Enough!” With a red flash, Y/N was thrown backwards. Pain seared through their body as they writhed on the floor in pain. Y/N cried out in anguish, alerting Andre who quickly dove down towards the scene.
“Hold on Y/N...” The Pride of Portee seeker whispered to himself as he flicked his wand downwards. “Bombarda!” The ground at Mr Lee’s feet exploded, throwing him off balance. With the curse lifted, Y/N panted heavily as they tried to recover. Mr Lee growled as he watched the seeker fly past. Andre circled round. Flying fast, he fired another spell towards Y/N’s assailant who easily blocked it.
“You little pest! AVADA KEDAVRA!” Mr Lee whipped his wand up. A flash of green flew up into the air, hitting Andre Egwu. His face went blank as his body went cold. The grip on his broom loosened. The world went silent. Y/N watched as Andre’s broom dove downwards, his lifeless body rolled onto the ground.
“NOOOOO!” Y/N cried out, their eyes welled with tears. “YOU BASTARD!” In a fit of rage, they violently shot spells at Mr Lee. The death eater dodged and deflected them as he smirked happily. Bill looked around the battlefield. The evil army continued to outnumber them. His gaze fell to Andre’s body.
“Re...retreat” He whispered. His eyes glazed over. “Retreat!” He shouted around him. He pointed his wand to his throat. “RETREAT!” His voice boomed across the land as students began to flee, heading back towards the gates. Bill called out to Barnaby. “Barnaby! Get Andre’s body” The Slytherin ran over to the seeker’s body and picked it up, running back towards the gate. He looked around as he ran, looking to his parents. Tulip managed to disarm his mother momentarily to allow herself to run away. Penny and Fleur assisted Y/N in keeping Mr Lee back as Rowan dragged them away.
“Y/N we have to go!”
“He has to pay! He has to pay!” Tears streaked down Y/N’s face.
“He will, but not now!” Rowan blinked a tear out of their eyes as Y/N stopped resisting and ran back with the rest of them. Students up on the wall, continued to barrage the death eaters and snatchers with spells, covering the defenders’ escape. Some fleeing students fell as flashes of green hit their backs. The cackle of snatchers ringed through the air as everyone ran through the gate. Bill waved them all through, making sure no one was left behind.
“Go go go!” As the last one through the gate, Fleur fired a spell over her shoulder to hit the chain for the gate. The gate crashed down with a bang as she ran past Bill, grabbing his hand. Their footsteps echoed through the corridor as they ran from the evil army. Soon they came to a stop. Bill turned and aimed his wand to the ceiling. “Bombarda Maxima!” The roof exploded and collapsed, rubble fell and blocked the corridor. The defenders breathed heavily as they recovered from the fight. The gang surrounded Barnaby as he looked down at Andre, laying lifeless in his arms. Tulip caressed his cheek as a tear fell from her eye.
“Andre...” Her voice was low and soft. Y/N sat on the floor, their back leaned against the wall, their head in their hands. Penny put an arm around their shoulders as she cried alongside them. Ben looked down in sorrow, fiddling with his wand. Rowan removed their glasses, wiping their eyes with their sleeve. Fleur clutched onto Bill’s hand as he stared at his dear late friend. The gang was silent as they mourned the Ravenclaw seeker. A sudden rumble through the castle reminded them of their situation. Bill looked towards the rubble barrier.
“We’re not finished yet...”

Life is rollercoaster of emotions. Some of them are good while others are bad. The ones that hurt us the most make us grow up. But also, losing the ones you love such as someone in your family, friends and love is something you can’t easily get over. Specially if you witnessed how their lives came to an end. No matter how hard you try, those thoughts will haunt you until your last day of life.
However, being able to find a reason to smile again and always being kind with others, no matter what. That’s what life is about. -C. Mills

The End of the Mystery: Part 5 - The Battle by the Burning Pitch
Summary: The gang hold off Voldemort’s army as they try to enter through the Quidditch Gate but it’ll take a lot to discourage the Hogwarts Mystery Gang!
Notes: I wrote the battle scene in one part initially but it got too long so I split it up into two parts, here’s the first. It paces a lot better now.
A soft breeze blew through the cold night sky, the blades of grass swayed peacefully on the ground. The flaming remains of the quidditch pitch in the distance crackled quietly outside the barrier. The blue flashes of the shield decorated the sky above as the evil army bombarded it with spells. The orange and silvery blue hue from the quidditch pitch and shield illuminated the restless figures pacing on the outskirts of the protection.
"That's a lot of snatchers..." Ben gulped softly, his forehead shone with sweat. He stood behind Bill, fidgeting with his wand. The ginger curse breaker stood tall, scanning the land around them.
"We got some of Sprout's defenses scattered around, Andre's flight team and a few students back by the wall. If we keep them in front of us, we won't get overwhelmed" He spoke out loud to the group around him, their gaze fixated on the large group of attackers in front of them. Bill looked around at the empty stares of his friends and the students that volunteered to fight. "Guys it'll be okay. Just...watch each other's backs and stay sharp." He took in a deep breath. "We can do this..." Fleur took his hand, squeezing it softly as he looked down at her. He forced a sheepish smile through his worried face.
"It's pretty..." Tulip looked at the alight quidditch pitch, the radiating fire danced and swirled against the thick black smoke that filled the night sky. "Yet sad..." she whispered, Penny looked from her to the quidditch pitch.
"It is" She spoke softly. "Remember the final match between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw in fifth year? Charlie almost had the snitch when a bludger broke his broom, he crashed right into the Slytherin stands" Y/N nodded.
"He landed right on Merula, she would have hexed him if his leg wasn't broken" They smiled warmly and shook their head, remembering how impulsive their rival was.
"He was bed ridden for days" Penny spoke again, everyone's gaze still fixated on the forces ahead. "Madam Pomfrey was kind enough to let us stay with him for one night. We ate sweets and listened to the radio all night." The hufflepuff blonde giggled softly. "Bill never left his side"
"Of course. He's my brother, I'd do anything for Charlie" The curse breaker spoke, his voice low but stern. Y/N looked up, the faint twinkling of stars scattered the Scottish sky. Their eyes glittered from the flashes of the spells trying to break down the shield.
"Jacob" Memories of their absent brother flashed through their mind. Every year at Hogwarts. The mystery of the cursed vaults. The mystery of Jacob. Time spent trying to find him, to be with him. Long abandoned. "Where are you?" The question ringed through their head, the same question they've asked every day. A thud nearby and the sound of footsteps brought Y/N back to reality. Andre walked over to Bill, broom in hand.
"We got snatchers and death eaters, we knew that, but I also saw a few giants. We're in for a fight Bill" the Ravenclaw seeker reported.
"Giants?!" Ben exclaimed, his face filled with nervousness.
"They're not that tough" Tulip stated, trying to comfort the cowardly Gryffindor. Suddenly a loud crack rang through the air, echoing in their ears. A bright explosion filled the sky as the shield cracked and shattered. Glowing dust floated down before disappearing completely. The gang looked up in surprise before looking back to the evil army in front of them. They watched as one of the snatchers creeped towards them, wary about coming closer. After a few steps, he looked back to his fellow allies. They all started to grin madly and loud howls and laughs resonated through the air. With a loud cry, the army started charging towards the gate, running past the quidditch pitch. The fire illuminating their crazy eyes.
"This is it everyone. It's going to be tough but I know you can do it. You're some of the bravest and most talented wizards and witches I know, and together we can do this." The group watched as a couple of snatchers got trapped in devil's snare, pinning them to the ground. The army continued charging. "Keep them in front of you, take them out hard and fast. Watch each other's back and remember what you're fighting for. We fight for Dumbledore, we fight for Harry, we fight for our school" Bill stood tall as he drew his wand, brandishing the weapon to his side. Rowan straightened the glasses on their face, their wand poised and ready. Ben hunched down, holding his wand tightly, as he readied himself for the fight ahead. Barnaby tucked Barnaby Junior down into his pocket and he readied his wand, remembering his effective dueling stance. Andre mounted his broom, hovering a few feet above the ground, his wand in hand. Tulip cracked her knuckles, a wild smirk on her face. Penny moved the goggles on her forehead down over her eyes. The black lenses shone from the fiery landscape. She confidently smiled as she wielded her wand in one hand and a potion in the other. Y/N raised their wand, the tip pointing upwards as they readied their other hand in front of them, prepared to cast against the dark forces. Fleur equipped her wand and stood by her ginger husband.
"Wonderful speech, my love" She whispered to him.
"Thank you dear, I practiced it on the way over" He flashed her a cheeky smile before returning his gaze to the charging force in front of him. He raised his wand. "FOR HOGWARTS!"
"FOR HOGWARTS!" His friends and the students around him cried out as they charged forwards. Andre swiftly shot into the air, followed by four students, joining the charge from above. As the two opposing forces ran at each other, spells flew overhead as the onslaught began. The wizards and witches deflected and shielded themselves from incoming spells as they continued to run. With a roar the two groups collided. Bill rushed forwards to the snatcher in front, punching him square in the face before shooting spells at the others behind him.
"Petrificus Totalus!" Fleur bonded the knocked down man before he could get up. She quickly cast protego as a hex flew towards her, Bill turned and quickly disarmed her attacker with a quick expelliarmus. The married couple swiftly stood back to back and continued to fend off the attackers. Ben scanned the battlefield as the wizards and witches clashed. His hand shook in fear. Suddenly a flash of light burst towards him. The scared man quickly flicked his wand as he deflected the incoming spell.
"Argh!" Ben fell over as another spell whizzed past his head. The blonde Gryffindor coughed as the wind was knocked out of him. A death eater apparated next to him, his wand pointed at him. "Oh Merlin!" Just as the death eater was about to flick his wand, he was knocked off his feet as the ground beneath him exploded. Ben looked up and saw the Pride of Portee emblem swooping past him. Andre scanned the skirmish below him, duels occurring all over the battlefield, he quickly spotted a large cluster of snatchers.
"Large group. 3 o'clock!" He called out behind him. Two students flew behind him as they dove down towards the crowd. The snatchers below were laughing and firing curses, pinning down a couple of students. "Confringo!" The gang of snatchers were blown aside as Andre and his team bombarded the ground beneath them. Dirt and stone flew up into the air as the curses made contact, cries of anguish ringed through the air as some of the opposing forces were weakened.
"Yeah! Go Andre!" Tulip whooped from below as Andre and his squad continued their bombing runs.
"Avada Kedavra!" The red-headed Ravenclaw quickly rolled out of the way as the killing curse flew past her. She quickly located the source of the spell and pointed her wand at the enraged death eater.
"Stupefy!" With a flash of blue the attacker was knocked over, an audible groan escaped his mouth as he hit the ground.
"Expelliarmus!" Tulip's wand flew out of her hand and onto the ground nearby. She turned to see another death eater, their wand pointed at her. "Hello girlie" The red-head gulped as a cheeky grin formed on the man's face.
"TULIP!" The two of them turned in time to see Y/N roll onto Tulip's wand, grabbing it in their other hand before rolling into a crouched position. They stopped with their wand and Tulip's wand pointed at the death eater. "Depulso!" With a large flash of red, the enemy flew through the air and into two snatchers, who were caught off guard. Y/N ran over to Tulip, quickly throwing her wand to her.
"Thanks Y/N"
"Don't mention it"
"Whoa!" The two were quickly interrupted as they saw Rowan's wand fly through the air. The bookworm seemed to be facing off against a snatcher who had just disarmed them. Before Y/N, Tulip or the snatcher could react, Rowan flicked their hand towards their enemy.
"Flipendo!" With a bang, the snatcher flew backwards, thudding to the ground. Tulip quickly ran over and kicked their wand from their hand, while they lay still on the ground.
"Wow Rowan that was amazing!" Y/N complimented.
"Being at Uagadou has taught me a thing or two, including casting without my wand" Rowan flashed Y/N a grin as they were handed their wand back. Meanwhile, Penny held up the head of a fallen student as she poured a green liquid into his mouth. The student began to stir as the Wiggenweld potion took affect.
"Get him back to the gates, you two can join the defense from back there" another boy quickly supported the injured one as they limped back towards the castle. Penny replenished her belt as a group of snatchers spotted her. She scanned them through her dark goggles. They cackled loudly as they surrounded her, their wands aimed at the blonde Hufflepuff who stood confidently. With a whoosh from above, three vials fell from the sky, smashing either onto the ground nearby or onto the snatchers. A dark purple smoke began to fill the area as Penny'a adversaries began to panic.
"Night night" The blonde potioneer brought a handkerchief up to her mouth and nose as she gave a small wave to one of the snatchers. Their eyelids quickly closed as they fell over, their bodies lying scattered on the ground, a deep sleep falling over them all. Penny looked up at Andre and the students behind him, giving him a thumbs up. He returned the gesture before flying off again.
"Hey!" Penny turned to see another snatcher, one who was much larger than the others. He held a snapped wand in his wand which he angrily threw to one side. He was quite muscular, his bald head shone slightly as he cracked his knuckles. "Those were my friends!" With a cry of fury, he began running towards the pretty Hufflepuff. Penny smirked. She drew out a turquoise potion from her belt. She popped off the cap and quickly drank the brew. Wiping her mouth, the potioneer felt a burning sensation in her muscles. With a look of determination, Penny began running head first towards the large snatcher. They stared daggers at each other as they charged closer and closer and closer. In one swift move, Penny jumped up, her fist connecting with the snatcher's lower jaw. With a groan, the big man flew backwards in the air and landed with a thud, a few feet away. The Hufflepuff landed gracefully, a cheeky smirk on her face as she blew her knuckle. She looked to the side where a few snatchers stared at her in fear.
"Boo" With a yelp they ran away, almost tripping over each other. Penny smiled confidently before she dived back into the fight. Unbeknownst to the defenders of Hogwarts, a large figure stomped onto the battlefield. The large creature huffed, its hot breath hung in the air. Two death eaters, a man and a woman, stood confidently in front of the creature. They smirked evilly at the fight before them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fire crackled quietly as the fireplace barely lit the dim room. Tonks sat in the comfy chair by the fire, holding her infant son. Little babbles from Teddy made the metamorphmagus look down, she smiled softly and bounced him lightly. Her gaze returned to the orange blaze, the light illuminated her eyes. She felt warm with the wood burning in front of her, the blanket over her lap and the small infant in her arms. She stared off into the distance, out the window, looking at the bright moon that shone in the dark night sky. Her mind was miles away. Thoughts flashed through her head.
“The battle would’ve started by now” She couldn’t stop herself from thinking of all the ways her dear beloved husband could die. “He could be crushed. Or cursed. Or...or...” A loud snap ringed through her ears as the wood in the fireplace was cracked by the heat. She looked down at her small child again who looked up at her with big curious eyes.
“I’m sorry Teddy”
The End of the Mystery: Part 4 - To vow your life away
Summary: As the battle threatens to begin, Jacob is reminded of the dirty deed he might have to complete on this night.
The glow of the shield around Hogwarts illuminated the groups of death eaters and snatchers on the hillside. The evil army was restless, their laughs of mischief echoed over the land, eager to kill the boy-who-lived. A lone figure stood in the back by the forest edge, leaning against a tree. His black cloak billowed in the wind, leaves rustled at his worn boots. His head rose as he heard the crunch of footsteps behind him.
"Hello Y/L/N" The woman spoke behind him. He waved the death eater mask from his face as he turned to face her.
"Merula" The woman's violet eyes pierced into his. The sound of more footsteps alerted him to another woman standing next to Merula, her long hair was unkempt and dirty. "Ismelda" The pale-faced woman grunted in response.
"Enjoying the view Jacob?" The two Slytherins came to a stop next to Jacob, staring out into the horizon. The resounding cracks and bangs of the army's attacks echoed off the bubble around the castle.
"What do you want Merula?" The man let out a loud sigh. The sliver of orange in Merula's hair whipped through the air as she turned to face him.
"Now now, no need to get snappy. We're all on the same side here" Jacob's solemn expression changed to a look of annoyance as he was reminded of his allegiance. "We'll all be in that stupid school soon, setting it ablaze, tearing down those walls, killing anyone who stands in our way" Merula's cruel words filled Jacob with remorse, she watched as a look of worry wavered on his face, the corner of her mouth twitched into a mischievous smirk. "They're not strong enough to hold us off, they would have sent out a cry for help, to anyone sad enough to face the dark lord...Do you think they'll be here?"
"Stop it Snyde" Jacob scowled but the cruel Slytherin crept closer to him.
"What am I saying? Of course they'll be here. They're foolish and deranged, just like their family" Jacob's knuckles went white as he balled his hand tightly into a fist. "Oh, but not you Jacob. You know what you're fighting for..." Merula stepped behind the man, swinging around the tree trunk next to him and stopping once they were face to face. "You know what you must do...for our dark lord" Her insidious face inched forwards. "Your vow" A wicked smile appeared on her face. "To kill your own blood!"
"ENOUGH" In a swift move, Jacob gripped Merula by her collar and swung her against the tree trunk. His hand shook in rage as he held his wand out, pointed at the cackling witch.
"Careful Y/L/N, you're making a scene" She hissed. Jacob looked around. A few death eaters and snatchers stared at him, looks of bewilderment and disgust set on him. With a glance over his shoulder, he saw Ismelda with her hand aimed at the back of his head. "I'm not the one you need to kill anyway!" Another cackle prompted Jacob to jab his wand further towards Merula's threat. "I don't think Lord Voldemort would appreciate you killing one of his most devoted followers" With a frustrated grunt, Jacob lowered his arm, returning his wand to his pocket.
"You really are mad if you think Voldemort gives a damn about you, Snyde" the enraged death eater straightened his cloak, composing himself.
"The dark lord values all that have proven themselves" Merula raised her sleeve, revealing the dark mark, the brand was faint against her skin. Jacob's eyes scanned over the mark before returning to stare at the landscape ahead. "Oh I forget, you haven't proven yourself, not yet" Her words lingered in the air "Not yet" Jacob looked to his right where Voldemort himself and his loyal fanatics stood. Jacob's heart pounded as the Dark Lord turned, his dark scarlet eyes bore into him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Crucio!" Pain seared through Jacob's body, his bones felt like they were on fire. The agony would not stop, his head felt like it was splitting open. He wanted it to end. Anything to stop the suffering. His breath returned to him as Voldemort lifted his wand away from his writhing body. The man panted, attempting to raise himself up off the cold stone floor of the Malfoy manor cellar. "Have you learnt your lesson yet Y/L/N?" Jacob looked up at the pale-face of the Dark Lord.
"Yes...my...Lord" The death eater panted, clutching his side as he rose up.
"I instructed you to never see your miserable sibling again but yet Wormtail found you near their place of work once again..." Jacob peered over Voldemort's shoulder, staring daggers at the short man cowering in the corner of the room. "Why do you disobey me, boy?"
"I was merely monitoring them my Lord, ensuring they were not scheming against you" Jacob's words came out confidently yet Voldemort's cold stare did not waver.
"Your excuses grow weak Jacob, do you really think you can lie to me?" The Dark Lord pointed towards himself with his wand, his red eyes unmoving. "I was willing to spare your sibling from a worse fate but you have forced my hand. I'll have Crouch pay little Y/N a visit"
"No!" Jacob drew his wand but was quickly disarmed by the dark wizard in front of him, with a wave of his hand.
"I should strike you where you stand for even thinking about facing me" Voldemort hissed. Jacob's head hung down in defeat, his eyes closed. Anguish filled him, his body clenched as he awaited his fate. "But I have a proposition for you my dear boy: Vow to me that you will kill your only sibling the next time you lay eyes on them" Jacob's eyes widened in shock.
"I would never! You might as well kill me now!" His eyes swelled with tears.
"Well that's exactly the point my son. Make this unbreakable vow or I will kill you now and your darling sibling. I will make your death swift but I can ensure you that your own kin will not have that same pleasure" Voldemort's words hung in the air. Jacob's breath hitched as he thought about his dilemma. The room was silent. Only a faint dripping from the ceiling could be heard, the scuffling of footsteps resounded from above. Finally Jacob held his arm out, looking down in shame. "A wise choice" Voldemort delicately grasped his arm, clasping their hands together. The Dark Lord motioned to Wormtail who hastily drew out his wand and placed the tip onto their hands. "Do you Jacob Y/L/N vow to never contact Y/N Y/L/N?" Jacob paused, staring at his hand.
"I do" He croaked, his throat dry. A ring of fire wrapped its way around their clasped hands.
"And if you were to ever lay eyes on them again, do you vow to kill them by your own hand?" Voldemort hissed, the sound of joy emanated from his words. Jacob paused again.
"I do" Jacob's words were a faint whisper as another ring of fire was added to their bond.
"Or face the consequences if you fail to value these vows" The Dark Lord's cold words rang through his ears as he closed his eyes, a small tear dropping down his cheek. He nodded his head and the rings dissipated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob's mind was brought back to the present when a loud commotion by the Dark Lord silenced the crowds. Merula and Ismelda had approached closer to the loyal group surrounding Voldemort. Jacob could spy the dark-cloaked wizard knelt on the ground, Bellatrix Lestrange by his side. With a snarl the evil wizard rose off the ground and fired his wand in a fit of rage towards the castle. The stream of light hit the glowing shield, making it glow brighter. In a split moment, the defense shattered, light exploded all around the castle. A ring of energy flew past the groups, wind blew past Jacob, his cloak flew out behind him. The maniacal laughter of Lord Voldemort ringed through the land, prompting the hordes of death eaters, dark creatures and snatchers to roar in triumph. Merula looked back at Jacob, her wand readied, giving him a taunting smirk. He could do nothing but stare at the large castle in front of him, its grounds open to the evil army surrounding it.
"Please don't be here Y/N"
This is a great idea! Well done @mizutoyama and @arnyan
Fictober
Are you inspired by an Inktober challenge but can’t draw to save your life? Are you a writer? Then Fictober is for you!
@arnyan and I (@mizutoyama) saw some Inktober challenges that were inspiring us to write, but tagging our fics/headcanons with “inktober” ran the risk of getting comments like “Inktober is for artists!”, and, honestly, we don’t want that negativity. So we thought about creating our own event so that writers who feel the same way can join us in creating great stories that are inspired by Inktober challenges.
The rules? Simple:
1. You can tag your story with #fictober if your story was inspired by a theme in an Inktober challenge or a Fictober challenge.
2. You must link the Inktober/Fictober challenge that inspired you. Basically, give credit where credit is due. Also, indicate which theme inspired your story.
3. You DON’T have to write every day. Summer is over; everyone is busy with school, work, responsibilities. You do you.
4. Every theme of a challenge inspires you, but don’t have time to write every day? No worries, you can write in November or even in December if you want to.
5. Not every theme from your selected challenge inspires you? No big deal, just take the themes that inspire you.
@arnyan and I are both writers that write primarily for the Hogwarts Mystery fandom, but that doesn’t mean Fictober isn’t open to other fandoms! There will be a general #fictober tag as well as HPHM specific tags (#hphm fictober and #hogwarts mystery fictober). @arnyan and I also created a side blog to share the HPHM Fictober creations, but if you are part of another fandom, feel free to create a side blog for your fandom’s Fictober. You can reblog this post and add information that relates to your fandom (like a link to a fandom-specific Fictober Tumblr/blog and/or the fandom-specific tag).
Also, if you want to create a Fictober challenge or a joint Fictober/Inktober challenge, go ahead!
We love the artists on Tumblr (and sometimes envy their talent), but why should they be the only ones to have all the fun challenges? So join Fictober and have fun writing!
Fandom Tag
Tagged by: @itscami-art
The first time I’ve been tagged in something on Tumblr, so thanks! Sorry it’s taken me so long to do this...I mean I don’t procrastinate...uh...
Rule: List ten favorite character from any fandom, then 10 other people.
1. Harry Potter = Ginny Weasley or Luna: Split decision since Ginny is such a kickass character, the only and youngest sister of the Weasley family who is also a pretty talented witch. And Luna cause I love how quirky she is!
2. Marvel = Spider-Man: I’m a big MCU fan and Tom Holland plays him so perfectly. Nerdy, good-hearted and a big ball of anxiety (xD) Gotta give a shout-out to the new Spider-Man game while I’m at it since it’s so good (Even though I haven’t played it, it’s so well developed imo)
3. Studio Ghibli = Porco Rosso: He’s a flying pig what’s not to love. No but he’s just too cool and I love that film, the animation is beautiful and the dialogue is so funny. (I’m going a little off track with these but oh well, this fun xD)
Oh god I’ve gone blank, I’ve run out of fandoms...no wait...
4. DC = The Flash: He a fast boi. No I love super speed, it’s such a cool power. I guess the CW show has made me like him more. (Some seasons were iffy)
5. Life is Strange = Hot Dawg Man Max Caulfield: I love this game and I really couldn’t pick between a lot of the characters but I guess it’d be our hipster time traveler girl!
6. Doctor Who = Eleventh Doctor: Matt Smith is a win and even though he was the youngest doctor, he still had class and his maturation was great. I still remember all the such badass moments from his first season. (The Stonehenge speech: Oh mein gott)
7. Brooklyn Nine Nine = ALL OF THEM: SUE ME! No but a seriously good show with some seriously good characters.
8. Star Wars = Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen): A blind character in Star Wars was awesome and I enjoyed Rogue One (don’t @ me xD but legit I like the spin-offs more than the new trilogy and I don’t see all the hate for them)
9. Avatar: The Last Airbender = Toph: I guess I like kickass blind characters. But this show is awesome. BRB gonna go watch it all again...
10. Hogwarts Mystery = Penny Haywood: Cause Haywood is Baewood
So there we go, I am supposed to tag 10 people but I’m not too sure who so anyone that wants to can go ahead! Hope you enjoyed my opinions! xD
The End of the Mystery: Part 3 - The Calm before the Storm
Summary: The dark army approaches and the gang enter the school, eager to lend a hand. But there are some among the group who are unsure of the consequences of the coming battle.
Notes: This third part has been done for a little while now but the way I like to write the parts; I try to finish the next part before posting the previous one so since I’ve finished part 4, here’s part 3! Thanks for reading!
Notice: This fic contains an extract from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I do not take ownership of the writing from the Deathly Hallows book.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the tunnel. After walking through the painting at Hog’s Head Inn, the gang was quietly trekking through a dark tunnel. Soon they were met with light at the end of the passage and could hear murmurs ahead of them. They shielded their eyes as they found themselves in a large room. The room was filled with makeshift beds and tables. A few students and order members stood around the room, all lively in conversation. As they entered, a black man dressed in purple robes approached them.
“Kingsley” Bill and Kingsley Shacklebolt shook hands.
“Hello Bill. I see you’ve brought reinforcements” The deep-voiced man looked to the assortment of people behind the curse breaker.
“Yes, these are my friends. You know Ben Copper” Bill motioned to the blonde man behind him who grinned shyly.
“Of course, how are things down in the obilviator headquarters?” Kingsley asked as Ben weakly shook his hand.
“Uh...it’s good sir, thank you again for helping me get that position” The Gryffindor chuckled halfheartedly as he shook Kingsley’s hand for too long. The auror managed to politely pry his hand from Ben’s grip and moved to the blonde woman standing next to him.
“Penny Haywood of Haywood’s potions” Penny shook his hand confidently.
“A pleasure” Kingsley smiled politely.
“This is Professor Rowan Khanna, teacher at Uagadou” Bill introduced Rowan who was too busy studying the room around them.
“Nice to meet yo...”
“Is this the room of requirement? I read about this place in my first few years here. I could never find it...” The black-haired professor continued to ramble on as they looked up at the ceiling in curiosity. Kingsley looked at them in concern.
“Uh and this is Barnaby Lee and Tulip Karasu. Barnaby is a Magizoologist and Tulip is a reporter for the New York Ghost.” Bill motioned to the tall man and red-haired woman who waved.
“Nice to meet you.” Kingsley then looked to Andre and Y/N. “I recognize these two. Andre Egwu, chaser for the Pride of Portee. I’ve seen you play, you’re a fast one” Andre shook his hand.
“Thank you sir, it’s been a tough season” The tall wizard looked to Andre’s side and saw Y/N.
“Y/F/N Y/L/N. Auror for MACUSA. I’ve heard of you around the office. You do some great work in America” Y/N smiled sheepishly as they shook his outstretched hand.
“Pleasure’s mine sir, I haven’t been at MACUSA long but I’ve definitely heard the name Kingsley Shacklebolt” Y/N nodded at them. While Andre and Y/N spoke to Kingsley, Tulip spied the tall pale-faced man standing nearby. She moved across the room in a few short strides. She tapped the man on the shoulder.
“Remus” Tulip opened her arms for a hug as the man turned to face her.
“Hello Tulip, how are you?” Remus hugged the red-haired woman, bringing him comfort.
“I’m fine, how are you? I heard about Tonks...it’s brave of you to be here...” Tulip shifted in place awkwardly as she spoke about her good friend.
“I could be better if I’m honest. Yes...well, Tonks is keeping Teddy safe...I’m here for Harry and the school...” Tulip watched as Remus looked down, looking quite shameful. “I can’t help but miss them...a lot could happen right now in this very moment...” Remus let out a long sigh. “My son...my wife...everything in my life is waiting for me and I’m here...fighting by my own choice...” Remus sat down on one of the beds in the room. Tulip stood in front of him, looking at the torn man.
“No one would think less of you if you left Remus...Teddy needs his father...” the red-haired Ravenclaw placed a hand on the werewolf’s shoulder, his gaze met hers. A look of hope filled his eyes before he shook it away.
“No. I made a promise to protect James’ boy and I will. He would’ve done the same for me” Remus gave Tulip a weak smile which she returned. The air in the room changed as a young man with black hair and a young woman with dirty blonde hair appeared at the entrance. Remus and Kingsley walked over as the boy-who-lived entered, looking quite surprised.
“Is that...” Ben stuttered.
“Harry Potter” Penny finished his sentence, looking admirably at the Hogwarts Hero.
“He’s kind of cute...when he doesn’t look so clueless...” The gang looked to Andre. “What? Not the time?” Y/N chuckled.
“Looks like Dougal has competition” The rest of the gang laughed a little, still watching the conversation between Harry and Remus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The dark night sky above the Great Hall twinkled with stars as the murmurs of students echoed through the room. Students sat at the long tables, all looking quite shaken and awoken from their slumber. The order members and the professors, along with Bill’s gang, stood near the front of the hall, coming up with a plan to defend the school.
“Neville and I have placed devil snare’s on the school borders, that should help keep some of them out” Professor Sprout stated to the group, her usually positive demeanor sounding quite serious.
“Wonderful Pomona” Professor McGonagall praised the herbology teacher. “We have learnt that Voldemort’s forces have burned down the quidditch pitch so we can only assume they have people waiting on that side of the castle. We need a team to guard the quidditch gate, it would not be ideal to be attacked from all angles, if we manage to keep the attacks in front of us, we might just survive” Bill’s hand raised instantly
“My friends and I can handle that Professor” Bill stated as the rest of the gang nodded in agreement. “We’ll hold them off” Professor McGonagall nodded respectfully to the group.
“Very well Mr Weasley, take some of the students with you and set up by the gates” the Head of Gryffindor paused, looking between the faces of the Order, teachers and brave volunteers, a flicker of worry appeared on her face but was quickly replaced with pride. “Hogwarts thanks you all. Dumbledore thanks you all. Good luck” The group dissipated, walking over to sit at the tables, as McGonagall headed to the podium while she spoke to Kingsley. The gang split up, sitting in empty spaces at the tables. Penny sat next to Fleur, the two giggled together like two school girls, they seemed to be complimenting each other’s hair. Ben sat by the Weasley parents, Molly Weasley pinched the blonde man’s cheeks much to his displeasure. Barnaby sat by some of the students, they stared at Barnaby Junior in wonder. They all giggled as the small woodland creature waved its arms at the children, displeased at the attention it was receiving. Rowan was talking to a distracted Bill who seemed to be keeping an eye on Fleur and Penny, his eye twitched every time they giggled. Their conversations were cut short as McGonagall called for the hall’s attention. The gang listened attentively to her speech.
“...but it is unlikely to hold for very long unless we reinforce it. I must ask you, therefore, to move quickly and calmly, and do as your prefects -” McGonagall was interrupted as a chilling voice echoed through the halls. Y/N shivered as the voice seemed to erupt from the walls.
"I know that you are preparing to fight. Your efforts are futile. You cannot fight me. I do not want to kill you. I have great respect for the teachers of Hogwarts. I do not want to spill magical blood. Give me Harry Potter, and they shall not be harmed. Give me Harry Potter and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter and you will be rewarded. You have until midnight.” The gang looked between each other as the hall was filled with silence. A look of shock plastered their face as they then looked to Harry.
"But he's there! Potter's there. Someone grab him!" A pug-faced brunette Slytherin shouted, her arm shaking as she pointed at Harry Potter. In an instant, the Gryffindors surrounding Harry stood to face the betraying Slytherin, along with the Hufflepuffs, and then the Ravenclaws. Y/N and the gang joined the stand, staring daggers at the Slytherin table, pulling out their wands.
"Thank you, Miss Parkinson. You will leave the Hall first with Mr. Filch. If the rest of your House could follow." said Professor McGonagall in a stern voice. Y/N watched as the Slytherin table rose, and slowly marched out, following the caretaker. They looked to their side and saw Barnaby had sunk into their seat, looking quite sorrowful. Before they could speak up, Kingsley stood up at the podium.
"We've only got half an half an hour until midnight, so we need to act fast. A battle plan has been agreed between the teachers of Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix. Professors Flitwick, Sprout and McGonagall are going to take groups of fighters up to the three highest towers - Ravenclaw, Astronomy, and Gryffindor - where they'll have good overview, excellent positions from which to work spells. Meanwhile Remus" - he indicated Lupin - "Arthur" - he pointed toward Mr. Weasley, sitting at the Gryffindor table - "and I will take groups into the grounds. We'll need somebody to organize defense of the entrances or the passageways into the school -"
"Sounds like a job for us." the twin brothers, George and Fred Weasley spoke up. Kingsley nodded to them in approval and then looked between Bill and his friends, nodding to them as well. Bill nodded back.
"All right, leaders up here and we'll divide up the troops!" The gang rose and gathered together. Bill, Fleur and Andre went to the front to gather a few of the students while Barnaby wandered over to the window, looking out into the darkness of the night sky. Y/N exchanged a glance with Penny before they walked over to the tall Slytherin.
“Barnaby? Are you alright?” Penny lightly touched his arm, taking his attention away from the window.
“Yeah...I’m okay...” Barnaby’s green eyes looked dim with sorrow. Y/N and Penny exchanged another worried glance.
“Barnaby, what’s wrong?” Y/N spoke up, moving to face Barnaby next to the window. The dark brown haired magizoologist paused for a moment, keeping his gaze affixed on the window.
“Do you think I belong here?” Y/N and Penny looked surprised by the question.
“Of course you do Barnaby, you volunteered to be here, why would you think that?” Penny said gently.
“I came, I’m here, I want to help but just now...when I heard...HIS voice...I wanted to agree with that girl...we could just end the suffering if we gave him Harry...but I don’t want to believe that...I know that’s not true...maybe I'm just selfish” Y/N and Penny watched as Barnaby stammered, closing his eyes as he concentrated on his words. “I’m a Slytherin. Like those that have just left this hall. Like Voldemort. Like my parents...maybe I shouldn’t be here...” Before Barnaby could continue, he felt a firm pair of hands on his shoulders as he was turned around to face Y/N.
“Barnaby Lee, you listen to me. You are the bravest and most selfless person I know. Being a Slytherin does not define who you are. Your parents do not define you. They don’t deserve to have you if they can’t see that their son is one of the best magizoologist in the wizarding world.” Barnaby looked down at his jacket pocket as Barnaby Junior poked out, looking up at his owner with his dark beady eyes. His twig arm brushed up against his face in reassurance.
“Being a Slytherin does not make you a follower of Voldemort. Your determination and ambition to help your school and protect your friends are traits that still make you a brilliant Slytherin, and an amazing friend” Penny chimed in, giving the burly man a warm smile.
“Really?” Barnaby looked between his friends who gave him warm smiles. The blonde Hufflepuff gave his arm a comforting squeeze. “Thank you guys...” The trio moved into a warm hug. Penny and Y/N giggled as they were squashed against the tall Slytherin. Barnaby released the two, nodding gratefully as they began discussing something else. His gaze returned to the window, thoughts swirling in his mind.
As the groups began to leave the hall, heading to their positions. Tulip and Rowan stood to the side, checking their supplies when they felt a few heavy steps behind them. Turning, they found the smiling face of Hagrid.
“Hello Tulip, Rowan, yeh’ve grown ‘aven’t yah” The hairy giant scooped the old Hogwarts students into his arms with a big hug.
“Nice to see you too Hagrid” Rowan laughed and groaned as they were suffocated against the large man’s overcoat. “I wish it was under better circumstances” Hagrid gave them a half-hearted smile as he gripped their shoulder.
“Ay, I’m proud o’ yeh all fer bein’ 'ere. Grawp is ‘ere ter, teh big lug wouldn’ stay at home” The two followed Hagrid’s gaze over to the other side of the room where a giant stood by the door, his large smile beamed at anyone that looked at him. Tulip waved at the lovable giant who chuckled loudly and waved back, startling a few of the students passing by him, including Professor Flitwick. As Hagrid, Tulip and Rowan started a conversation about Fang, Ben wandered over. “Hello there Ben, good to see yah, ‘ow’s yeh boi doin'?” Hagrid looked down at the blonde Gryffindor.
“He’s good. He’s at home with his mother” Ben looked worried for a moment, his eyes drawn to the floor.
“Are you okay Ben?” Tulip asked her friend, a look of concern plastered on her face. Ben’s eyes met hers.
“I just can’t stop thinking about my family. We need to beat him. Voldemort, he can’t win here tonight...if he wins, he’ll lay waste to the world. My wife and son won’t survive...” the cowardly Gryffindor had a grave expression as tears started to form in his eyes. The three looked shocked for a moment until Tulip laid a hand on Ben’s shoulder.
“He won’t on our watch, WE can protect your family Ben. Together” the red-head gave him a confident smirk as she gripped his shoulder. Ben nodded wearily, shaking slightly. Before they could continue their conversation with Hagrid, Bill walked over to them.
“Okay, we’re ready guys. Let’s go” The three nodded as Bill continued to walk through the hall, Fleur by his side. Meanwhile Andre walked over to a group of students, chattering to each other.
“I hear you guys are fast fliers” The students paused, looking between each other and then back at the Pride of Portee chaser in front of them. Andre smirked at them before motioning for them to follow him. Bill looked to Fleur who gave him a warm smile, prompting him to hold her hand. Tulip drew her sunglasses from her pocket, flicking them open and placing them over her eyes with a smirk. Rowan walked alongside her, peering back at Ben who looked sweatier than usual. Y/N looked at the group walking by, meeting eyes with Bill who nodded at them. They nodded back, tugging on Barnaby’s sleeve and alerting Penny to follow alongside the group. Penny slid a few more potions into her belt as she adjusted the goggles on her forehead. Barnaby straightened his jacket and checked that the bowtruckle in his pocket was sitting comfortably. The group walked side-by-side, their faces full of determination.
“Let’s do this”

The End of the Mystery: Part 2 - A Reunion Under Dire Circumstances
Summary: The gang reunite in Hog’s Head Inn where they ponder if they really want to join the fight.
Notes: A shorter second part but more to come in the next parts! Thanks for reading!
The sun set on the snowy village of Hogsmeade. The streets were quiet apart from the slight murmurs heard within Hog’s Head Inn. A loud snap outside the pub ringed through the air, startling a murder of crows. Rowan Khanna took a deep breath in, their face plastered with stress. Tightening the grip on their backpack, they released their breath and trotted over to the entrance. As the door swung open, they grimaced as the smell of something foul hit their nose. The bar was dusty and old, the furniture looked worn and the air was thick with the smell of goat. A tall, thin man with long, stringy, grey hair and a beard stood behind the counter. He met eyes with Rowan and nodded his head up the rickety stairs behind him. The nervous bookworm nodded politely and climbed the stairs. As their head poked up at the top of the staircase, they found familiar faces. Ben Copper sat in a booth to the far left. He was dressed in a grey suit sans a tie, his white shirt left tucked in and his top button undone. The smart-looking Gryffindor chatted to Penny Haywood who looked just as radiant as before. She wore a yellow T-shirt covered by beige dungarees, her signature potion belt tied around her waist. Dark smudges and stains dotted her dungarees, potion-making was never a tidy chore with the popular potioneer. Her hair was tied in a single-side braid that draped down the right side of her head and a pair of goggles sat on the top of her forehead. Leaning on the wall near a fireplace was Barnaby Lee. His spiky dark-brown hair and bright green eyes illuminated by the warm, orange glow of the fireplace. He wore a white, stripy shirt with a green tie tied around his neck and a dark brown coat that went down to his knees. He was making strange faces at a small bowtruckle that sat on top of his hand. Andre sat on a chair facing towards the fireplace, the purple robes of his Pride of Portee uniform draped onto the floor. He was examining his trusty broomstick, running his finger over a few of the scratches on the handle and checking the bristles of the broom. Next to him stood Bill Weasley, Tulip Karasu and Y/N Y/L/N. Bill wore a dark green jacket that covered a blue shirt. His clothes looked faded and slightly tattered from overuse. His ginger hair framed the deep scars on his face. He seemed to be in a lively conversation with Tulip who wore a black leather jacket, a blue t-shirt and black trousers. A pair of sunglasses poked out of her pocket and a golden dungbomb hung round her neck. Y/N was listening to their conversation when they noticed Rowan by the stairs.
"Hey Rowan!" Y/N swiftly closed the gap between them and hugged their old friend. Rowan's glasses shifted with the sudden force as they returned the hug to their old friend.
"Hey Y/N" The two friends pulled apart. The rest of the gang had noticed Rowan's presence and were now fixated on their old classmate.
"It’s been a while. How's Uganda been?" Y/N asked, keeping their arm around Rowan's shoulder, pulling them further towards the rest of the group.
"Amazing. Teaching at Uagadou has been a wonderful experience, the mountains are beautiful! How's life in New York?" The black-haired professor explained, adjusting their glasses.
"It's been good. Every day is exciting when you're catching crooks and dealing out justice!" Y/N announced in an almost superhero-like fashion. Rowan giggled at their silly friend.
"I feel like you're going to have to mature a bit if you're gonna be the head of MACUSA. ‘President’ Y/N" Tulip chimed in, elbowing Y/N in a teasing fashion.
"Yeah yeah well once I'm president I won't be able to keep bailing you out when you get caught. I knew you were a troublemaker but the New York Ghost really keeps enabling you. How many accounts of breaking and entering have you been accused of?" The auror reminded, wagging their finger at the red-head.
"Information is power, what can I say. If I don't get my hands dirty, the readers don't get the juicy scoop. Plus I only got caught once...as far as you know” Tulip winked at her auror friend. “I'm very good at my job." Y/N rolled their eyes.
"Don't tell me about any of the other times, otherwise I'm going to have to arrest you on the spot" The trio laughed as Bill walked over.
"Hey Rowan, good to see you. Thanks for coming" The ginger curse-breaker shook Rowan's hand.
"My pleasure, anything for Hogwarts." Rowan paused for a moment, glancing once again around the room. "Hey where's Tonks...or Charlie?" Bill's posture shifted slightly.
"Charlie was still in Romania when we contacted him. He's gathering reinforcements and he'll arrive when he can. I'm surprised you, Tulip, Y/N and Penny got here so quickly." Penny seemed to have overheard her name and was over in a snap.
"Nothing stops us from helping our friends, not even different time zones" Penny chirped happily.
"I was putting the bowtruckles to bed when I had to leave" Barnaby commented from behind the gang.
"As for Tonks, she's not joining the fight. She's at her mother's house, looking after Teddy" Bill continued.
"And Remus?" Y/N asked.
"He's here. He's already over at Hogwarts" the gang went silent.
"Well...she's gonna miss all the action then" Tulip joked, trying to bring a lightness to the conversation. The gang chuckled half-heartedly but silence soon struck the group once more.
"Guys, you don't have to do this. You can turn back, this doesn't have to be your fight" Bill explained, looking between the faces of his friends. Everyone was silent, some shifted in place, looking down at the floor.
"We thought curse after curse during our school years, no dark lord or evil army is going to tear that school to the ground. Harry Potter needs our help and we're going to do the best we can!" Y/N raised their wand out of their jacket and readied the weapon. Rowan and Penny cheered. Ben got up from his seat and straightened his blazer. Tulip twirled her wand in her fingers, confidence beemed from her face. Barnaby got up from his leaning position, standing next to Andre who stomped his broom against the floor. The bowtruckle stood proudly on the Slytherin's shoulders. Bill looked between them all, the Gryffindor had never felt more proud.
"Well okay then..." As if on cue, the portrait above the fireplace slowly opened, revealing a dimly lit passageway.
"Let's go save our school"

The End of the Mystery: Part 1 - Call to arms
Summary: The confidence of Bill Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks wavers as The Battle for Hogwarts looms over the horizon. Who else can they call upon in their time of need?
Notes: This is the first part to my new series based around the Battle of Hogwarts and the Hogwarts Mystery gang. This fic will not include a specific gender for Rowan and MC so feel free to imagine which gender each are. Thanks for reading!
Bill stared at the mirror that hung by the door. His solemn expression reflected in the slightly dirty glass. He twirled his wand in his hand as he listened to Fleur's soft steps upstairs, preparing some supplies for their trip. Suddenly the fireplace behind him roared alive as a head began to appear in the flames.
“Wotcher Bill” Bill was met with the warm smile of Nymphadora Tonks as her head poked up from the embers. The ginger curse-breaker knelt down beside the fire, returning the smile.
“Hey Tonks, how’s Teddy doing?” Bill asked. The metamorphmagus’ head seemed to turn to her right as if she was looking at her son.
“He’s good, my mum’s looking after him at the moment. Just trying to keep him safe with everything going on now...” Bill could read the slight look of shame on Tonks’ face.
“Well I’m glad you’re both safe” Bill watched as his old friend avoided eye contact. ”Tonks...” The mousy-brown haired woman looked into his eyes. “You don’t have to fight, you're looking after your son...keeping him safe” Tonks looked disappointed for a moment.
“I...I know...I just can’t bear to think what could happen to Remus...or you...or any of the Order...I could be helping instead of sitting here...away from the fight...” Bill looked back to the door, still listening to Fleur’s presence upstairs.
“What could happen to Fleur?...” He pushed the thoughts aside. “Nothing if I have anything to say about it” The grip on his wand tightened, he noticed Tonks was still staring at him. “We’ll be fine Tonks, we have some of the most powerful and bravest wizards and witches. Voldemort doesn’t stand a chance” Bill gave her a confident smirk.
“But you still don’t have the numbers, Voldemort has an army. Hundreds of Death eaters at his disposal...” Bill’s confidence wavered. His mouth opened and closed as he tried to think of a response. “Unless...” The curse-breaker raised an eyebrow. “You call them in...” Bill immediately shook his head.
“No”
“But Bill...”
“Tonks I said No...I can’t bring them into this...”
“Hogwarts is their home too and they promised they’d always be there for it...and us...” Bill’s eyes met Tonks as he sighed.
“I just...don’t want anything bad to happen to them...” Bill’s hand brushed against the scars on his cheek as he thought about his old friends.
“Then we give them the choice...that’s only fair right?” the metamorphmagus questioned.
“I suppose we do need the help...” Bill sighed and got to his feet. He walked over to the window, opened it and pointed his wand at the window sill. A wisp of blue light spiraled out of his wand as a silvery eagle formed in front of him. “Go...” The animal charm opened its beak as if to cry out and flapped it’s wings, flying of into the sky. He looked back towards Tonks who nodded in agreement.
“Hogwarts needs you”

Clouds passed by the Mountiains of the Moon through the warm night sky. Soft snores bounced between the stone walls as a sleeping figure lay in the cosy bed. Their black hair splashed out onto the pillow, their glasses sat next to them on the dresser. Rowan Khanna rested peacefully until a faint light began peeking through their closed eyelids. Quickly, they opened their eyes and grabbed their glasses. With their vision restored, they saw a blue eagle flying around their room, its silvery wings flapping in the air. Their eyes went wide as the eagle landed, looked at them and began to disappear. They quickly got to their feet and began getting dressed.

The orange sun rays covered half of the storefront as a bubbling cauldron sat on the shop counter. Steam rose into the face of Penny Haywood, her blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and goggles sat over her eyes. She held a vial of red liquid above the concoction inside her cauldron.
“Just a few drops of boom berry juice...” She dripped two drops into the brew. The liquid turned a shade of red but quickly turned to black as the cauldron shook violently. The blonde potioneer quickly ducked underneath the counter as the potion exploded, dark liquid coated the counter and walls, black smoke bellowed out and dissipated onto the ceiling. Penny rose up, coughing as she drew her goggles up, her face covered in dark smudges. “Another failure...” She pulled the hairband out of her hair, her golden blonde locks draped her shoulders. “Well no one said it’d be easy to make an advanced version of the Wiggenweld potion...” She was about to cast the scouring charm on her counter when she saw a glowing eagle land next to her. Its silvery white glow contrasted against the darkness of her failed potion. “How exciting!” Penny commented as she quickly grabbed a few potions from her shelves and exited to her back room.

The scribbling of a quill was the only sound that filled the empty office. The lonesome desk light illuminated a tired-looking blonde-haired man. He sighed as he shuffled another piece of paperwork over to the completed pile while also grabbing a fresh file. Ben Copper sighed as he looked up at the big clock in the Obliviator headquarters. 11 o’clock...so late...so much work... The hard-working muggle-born wizard sighed once more as he dipped his quill into more ink. All of a sudden, a light began glowing from behind him. He looked behind him to see a silvery wolf staring at him. He yelped, jumping out of his chair and knocking over the stack of paperwork on his desk. He held his chest for a moment before he noticed it was a patronus charm. He gulped.
“Tonks?...” He swiftly grabbed his work case and coat as the wolf disappeared. He flicked his desk lamp off. Darkness filled with room.

Murmurs filled the elevator as the last employees from the Pesculo Wizarding Bank entered the lift, chattering and small talk became faint as the elevator doors closed. The other elevator dinged as the doors slid open revealing a woman with red hair. Tulip Karasu lowered her sunglasses as she tiptoed out of the lift. She quickly made a right, entering an office space with multiple desks arranged in an orderly fashion. She swiftly walked past computers and a few weighing scales until she arrived at the other side of the room at a private office.
“Alohomora” The troublesome Ravenclaw whispered as the door opened with a click. She left the door partially open as she cast Lumos and scanned the room. She moved around the desk, peering at open files and documents before crouching by a metal drawer. She opened the bottom row, a multitude of files sat inside. She searched through the information before stopping and bringing out a specific file. Opening the dossier, she looked at the front page that read “Monthly Balance - May” She pointed her wand at the page. “Revelio” The words began to shift as it now read “TOP SECRET”. She then flipped through the rest of the file. “It seems the President of Pesculo has been taking a little bit of money on the side...just as I expected” The smug red-head shoved the file into her jacket as she closed the drawer with a clang. “Wait till the readers of the New York Ghost hear about this...” She was about to exit when she saw a silvery eagle land on the windowsill outside the office. “Oh Merlin...”
“HEY...IS SOMEONE THERE?” A booming voice came from the room she had entered from. She silently cursed to herself as she hastily shook the Lumos from the end of her wand, she could hear two sets of footsteps approach her location. As one of the big security guards approached the door, his wand outstretched, Tulip quickly rushed out the room. The door swung towards the guard, hitting him in the face and stunning him.
“Hey!” The other guard pointed his wand at Tulip, casting Immobulus at her. The Ravenclaw nimbly dodged the charm as she jumped over a desk, papers flew up into the air. She ran around the corner, past the elevators, the two guards hot on her trail. She stopped at a dead end, a medium sized window displayed the brick wall of the alleyway that was nine floors below her. The panting reporter looked behind her as her two pursuers blocked her only way out. “Drop your wand and put your hands up!” The two guards pointed their wands at Tulip.
“Sorry boys! I’ve got a call to answer. OBSCURO!” Blindfolds appeared around the surprised security members’ eyes as they yelled in distress. “Finestra” The glass of the window behind her shattered as Tulip dived out the window. “Arresto Momentum” With a flick of her wand, the Ravenclaw’s momentum slowed as she glided down to the ground. Her feet tapped on the alleyway floor as she looked back up at the two heads that appeared in the window.
“HEY!” The two animated guards shook their fists at Tulip as she blew them a kiss. Giggling to herself, she quickly jogged off into the crowded streets of New York.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moonlight shone over the Black Forest as the sound of crickets filled the night air. A tall brown-haired man hummed to himself as he walked over to a small tree. He had a multitude of Bowtruckles sat all over him, two sat on his shoulders, one sat on the top of his head and he held three in his arms, cradling them softly.
“Here we go guys...bed time” Barnaby Lee outstretched his arms, allowing the small creatures to crawl onto the tree. All but one soon crowded the tree branches. The slightly smaller bowtruckle left on his arm looked up to the Slytherin magizoologist. “Come on Junior, you can’t sleep with me again...the others will get jealous!” Barnaby chuckled. The little tree dweller shook its head and grabbed the tall man’s arm. “Ok fine...but now you know why they bully you a little” As Barnaby placed the bowtruckle in his breast pocket, a glow from above illuminated the forest floor. He looked up to see a silvery eagle perched on a nearby tree branch, its head turned in a curious manner. “Looks like it’s not bedtime just yet Barnaby Junior” With a small whimper from the bowtruckle, Barnaby rushed off to his living quarters.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind blew against Andre Egwu’s face as he swerved around the goal posts. The stars twinkled above him as he rushed around on his broom around the quidditch pitch.
”Keep up McBride!” The Pride of Portee Ravenclaw shouted behind him. A man with a chiseled chin flew after him, a massive grin plastered on his face.
“Oh I’m gonna get you Egwu!” Laughter filled the air as the two quidditch players continued to dodge each other, carrying out loop-the-loops and rolling past one another. Eventually Andre glided to the floor, dismounting his broom he grabbed a towel off the bench and wiped the sweat from his forehead. With a whoosh, Dougal McBride landed next to him. “Nice moves back there Egwu” He patted the out-of-breath Ravenclaw.
“Thanks man...”Andre panted. He turned for his water bottle when he heard Dougal yell behind him.
“WHAT THE?!” Andre turned to see a silvery blue wolf a few feet away from them. He held his bottle inches from his mouth as he stared at the patronus charm in surprise.
“I’ve...I’ve got to go, sorry Dougal” Andre gave him a quick hug and mounted his broom, flying off into the night, leaving his puzzled teammate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“HEY!”
“WATCH IT!”
“HEY CAREFUL!” Pedestrians were shoved aside as a man in a worn-out coat pushed past them in a frenzy. He checked behind himself as he ran down the New York street in a panic. The runner took a swift right turn down an alleyway, almost stumbling to the floor. As he steadied his feet, he leaned against a wall, panting heavily. Just as he caught his breath, the startled man heard a loud snap in front of him. His heart stopped as he looked up to see an auror in a black trench coat apparate in front of him. They smiled cheekily at them.
“Hello there” As the man turned to run, Y/N flicked their wand at them. “Incarcerous!” Rope spiralled out towards the perpetrator, tying their hands and feet together. With a thud, the man toppled over onto the floor. Y/N walked over to the struggling man as a woman apparated behind them.
“You could’ve left some for me...” The female auror laughed, putting her wand back in her jacket.
“Sorry partner, I wasn’t going to let this little guy get away now, was I?” Y/N said with a patronizing tone.
“Screw yo...” The felon’s mouth closed as Y/N cast the silencing charm on them.
“Yeah yeah pal, you’ve got plenty of things to say to the judg...” Y/N became distracted as they looked up at an eagle patronus charm, soaring through the air, its silvery wings illuminated by the setting sun. “Uh you mind processing this one...I’ve gotta go” Y/N let their partner grab hold of the perp as they began to walk off down the alleyway.
“Sure bud but what about your presidential campaign? Your speech to the rest of MACUSA’s tonight!” The auror shouted to Y/N.
“Something more important’s come up” Y/N apparated away. A loud crack ringed through the air.
