After five days of zero halibut caught we found a few new spots and drowned a lot of bait. One of the new locations we tried I let John hold my pole while I used the head aka the bow of the boat, he said he had an awesome bite, and a Lingcod swam to the surface chasing the bait... I took my pole back and with gentle guidance from John we feed the Ling the bait and nailed it! It was exciting to be able to bring back this beautiful creature for the kids to look at, even the other lodge goers came out in droves to check out this massive fish. Oh he may have found a new love for planes. Annually we visit the WWII hanger in Yakutat Alaska, Bob has been allowing my kids to go back in the hanger and climb on his DC-3/C-47 Cargo plane which flew in the D-Day invasion. The best part is asking Bob a million questions about the plane, the hanger, WWII, D-day, and other flying questions. He is a wealth of knowledge an insanely captivating when he speaks about history. The kids look forward to the visit to see the planes and other treasures at the hanger. Wow! What a powerful book, I’m sure I will be reading this book over and over again. I am a perfectionist at heart. I like things pretty, organized, and to my (extremely unrealistic) expectations. This book is an eye opener. As a mother to three, wife to Johnny, homeschool teacher, farm hand, registered nurse, daughter, sister, etc. I’m hard on my self and downright awful when my expectations are not met. So got news yesterday that shocked me and broke my heart. Who knew finding out that a past “boyfriend” passed away could hurt so bad... I haven’t talked to him in 15 years and our relationship ended on good terms, and mutually. So what am I grieving? I feel like I’m grieving the loss of him and his brothers close relationship, mourning what never was, mourning how different my life could have been in the blink of an eye, or mourning the loss of a great man who only got to live a short life. It also opens my eyes that I’m so lucky to have what I have, that my life and the life of the ones I love is never a promise. That I could kiss them for the last time at any moment. Who knew this grieving process would be so challenging and feel so complicated. I’m glad I have a husband that is not offended by much and I can talk to him about anything. Life is crazy and emotions often suck!!!

I am to total believer in girls can do anything boys can do and they can be just as strong and determined as any boy or man. But to my total surprise my girls and my boy have interests and desires that are very typical masculine and feminine. In my house my girls are shooting bows and working in the garage and my boy can be seen wearing Ergo and putting a baby to sleep. But to my surprise they seem to naturally be drawn to certain interests... Well nature got that one on me! Keeping my eyes open and my heart full! (at Oregon Zoo)

I asked the gentleman that gave me the trailer if he had Easter dinner planned and he didn’t so I offered to bring him dinner. First thing out of his mouth was if I’ve ever had Parker House Rolls? I haven’t and he explained how his mom made them and he hasn’t had them in forever. I found the recipe in the good ol’ Fannie Farmer cookbook. We have the ham and scalloped potato’s in the oven and rolls rising next to the fire. I think I’m going to have one happy gentleman today! Thank you for the help Coleen! (at Our Rec Life)

I walked up to a House here locally and asked if he was interested in selling it, found it belonged to a wonderful 90 year old gentlemen who is allowing me to “borrow” it for the summer. Hello Spring Break!!! Last year we planned to visit Yellowstone and found out it was closed due to weather when we got there, we drove from there south to Moab to enjoy our vacation and it was awesome. We learned one thing on our great adventure, that our kids enjoyed the time at the campground more than any other activity that we did. This spring break we decided to do some stay-cationing. We live in such a beautiful area with so much to do. We kicked off spring break with a snowy visit to the High Desert Museum. The kids where bundled warm to enjoy the outdoor exhibits, with minimal tears! Oh, and a huge shout out to this AMAZING man. I’m beyond lucky to get to spend the rest of my life with this guy!! 😍😍😍 (at The High Desert Museum)
