Your Favorite Superheroes Get a Fantastic Renaissance Makeover
French photographer Sacha Goldberger has taken our favorite spandex-clad heroes, villains and space travelers to the time of dukes, princesses and monarchs. The age of nobility has never looked so cool. More than 110 people helped make the project happen, including five costume designers, seven makeup artists, five hairdressers and 60 actors. The costumes were designed and made by Jackie Tadeoni and her team. It took three months of alteration to perfect the digital images. via

Sam Droege is Official Photographer of US Bees
Sam Droege tracks bees for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).  This work has become vital as bee populations have declined due to colony collapse.   The work of Sam Droege and his colleagues has produced these extraordinary pictures of bees and other insects.   Far from being fearsome these bees and insects become magical when viewed so close.  They shine and shimmer, revealing delicate limbs and antennae.   Sam Droege explains that,
Once you blow [the bees] up to the size of a German shepherd and they have good hair, people start paying attention,” he says. “They’re like aliens from another world.VIA

Anthropomorphism + Wordplay = Awesome
We’ve already got a soft spot for anthropomorphic food so we love these playful minimal ink and acrylic illustrations created by Cape Town, South Africa-based illustrator and designer Jaco Haasbroek. From a bellicose birthday cake to what may be the world’s official all-purpose seal of approval, the series depicts adorably personified Food, Objects and Animals either speaking or captioned by painfully cute puns and other sorts of wordplay.

To check out more of his work visit Jaco Haasbroek’s website, Flickr page, Instagram feed or follow him right here on Tumblr at haasbroek.

Hisashi Tenmyouya: Basara Bastard - (6 Images)
Japanese self-taught artist Hisashi Tenmyouya (天明屋尚) combines traditional Japanese painting techniques & imagery with modern pop-culture references to comment on the current state of culture in Japan. He also creates sculpture & installations.
“My manifesto, Basara is based on the subculture of the “street samurai culture” that is excessively decorative & imbued with a rebellious spirit that defies traditional values.”
