Okay, but imagine Billy holding Steve’s hand under the table at like a social dinner or something. Maybe they are at Steve’s house with their friends for like a roast or something and like Billy and Steve are secretly dating. And Billy is okay with that, he is the one who wanted to be secret. But he couldn’t help himself but take Steve’s hand under the table, and hold it tightly. Steve smiles a bit at this and hold hands all night under that table.

Billy Hargrove fandom doesn't talk enough about him being a secret romantic, as implied by Dacre in that one interview where he talked about Billy wanting a date under the stars. Like, I can't imagine he'd just pull that shit with some random hookup unless he REALLY wanted in their pants, but with someone he has genuine feelings for and felt like he could trust? I think he'd be very romantic, do all the sappy shit they might assume he'd hate.

His perm is hanging on for dear life at this point. It's been about eight or nine months since his last appointment and the curls were really fighting for their lives. Billy sighed as he looked in the mirror and ran a hand through his hair. He didn't have that kind of money right now so he could do one of two things. He could start spending hours in the bathroom each morning curling his own hair, or he could just let his hair get in that weird in between of wavy and straight which he hated.

As he looked in the mirror the shine of one of his record sleeves caught his eye. It was Motley Crue's 'Shout at the Devil'. All the band members were on the front, done up in their stage make up and their hair teased to high heaven. His gaze immediately went to Vince Neil. Billy would be lying if he said he didn't think the lead singer was at least a little hot. But his hair...he'd never straightened his hair but he knew damn well he could pull off looking like Vince if he tired.

Billy found himself in the bathroom for the next hour and a bit, Susan's flat iron doing its work in taking the life out of the last of his curls. In one of his copies of Metal Edge he had been able to find a good photo of Vince Neil. His hair teased to hell but still framing that pretty boy face.

After Billy was finished with the flat iron he grabbed a comb, starting to tease and back brush his hair. It took a few tries before he had how he wanted it. All that was left was the hairspray. His new can was half empty by the time he was done with it. He looked in the mirror and couldn't help but grin. He looked fucking good. He looked like a rockstar. Sure this wasn't a style he was gonna be pulling off all the time, but as a little change before his next perm? Absolutely. Now the only thing left was to see how a certain someone would feel about it.

Billy cleaned up the bathroom, hid his magazine away again, and grabbed his keys. He put on a pair of boots and walked out to his Camaro. When he got in he cranked the volume of his 'Too Fast for Love' tap and drove off. With his sunglasses on and music blaring he drove way too fast down the back streets of Hawkins until he reached his destination. Harrington's house.

He pulled into the driveway and saw the door already starting to open. He guessed Steve knew it was him from the music. He leaned against the doorframe and raised an eyebrow as Billy shut off the music.

"Not even a call before you come over? You got something important to tell me?" He asked from his spot in the doorway.

Billy got out of his car and gave his hair a bit of a shake, making sure his hair caught Steve's attention. He took off his sunglasses and hung them on his shirt while he walked up to him.

"What? Can't I just pop by because I feel like it? Or do I have to have a formal invitation from the king?"

Steve stood there, just looking Billy over. His hair was so...different. Steve reached out to touch his hair. "Holy shit...you were busy in your bathroom today."

Billy let out a bark of a laugh and just grinned at Steve. "Like it, pretty boy?"

Steve couldn't help but nod. "Yeah...it looks good. Different. You look like a rockstar.."

"And I'm guessing your into rockstars?"

"I didn't say that! I just said you looked like one."

Billy smirked. He watched as Steve stayed mesmerized by his new look. He would take that as the approval from the masses he was looking for.

"Well you can't get your hands out of my hair, maybe we should go inside so you can pull it."

Steve didn't say anything to this and just grabbed Billy by his collar and pulled him inside, letting the door slam closed behind them.

I think, given the chance, Billy would absolutely drag Max to every single concert he went to. Sure it’s fun going to a concert and hooking up with guys or trying to weasel his way into backstage, but it pays off a whole lot more when he sees Max’s eyes go wide the first time she sees Motley Crue play.

When she feels the rumble or drums in her chest and gets her ears filled by shrill sounds of the guitar solo.

And he feels a bit of pride when he sees her mouthing or screaming along to songs she knows because she has heard them so many times in Billy’s car. And he sees the moment it clicks for her that, hey, this is pretty fucking cool.

Before the show, before every show they go to he gets her a patch from that band. Because he knows she won’t hang up the posters and she doesn’t really wear band shirts. So he gets her patches and buttons and maybe she doesn’t put them on anything for a while, because that’s not her style. But she still loves them just the same.

And it reminds her that in the end, Billy will always be there for her. That when the ground gets too rambunctious she can squeeze on his arm and he’ll pull her in front of him. Or if a weirdo is over stepping a boundary he will be the first one to throw a punch. Because at the end of the day, it’s the both of them against the world.

90’s/early 2000’s au where Eddie and Chrissy start talking to eachother on AOL messenger but don’t know who the other actually is irl. But they go to school together and they get so giddy about going home to talk to eachother because they are stupid and fell in love with a ‘stranger’ online

Billy definitely CLAIMS he is not a sappy romantic chick but that guy has a picture of Steve in his wallet behind his ID or smth and every time he sees it he has a silly little smile on his face.

Steve pretends to hate Billy’s music. Billy isn’t shy about sharing his music tastes. He loves blaring Scorpion’s ‘Rock you like a hurricane’ and he is coming into the schools parking lot. He loves playing Mötley Crüe’s ‘Too Fast for Love’ down the highway. His Too Fast for Love cassette is getting worn out, he needs to replace it. So when Steve starts getting picked up by Billy he, genuinely at first, complains about how loud the music is. Says he can’t tell how Billy can even stand to listen to them and isn’t he concerned about loosing his hearing? Even with Steve being partially deaf it’s still too much for him. Billy just shrugs and says he likes the loud.

As the months continue, Steve can’t help but smile when he hears the distant sound of Poison’s ‘Look what the cat dragged in’ from beyond the video store walls, signally Billy is there to pick him up. He can’t help but notice that Billy turns down his music a little when Steve gets in the car. Tommy Lee’s drums don't echo in his chest any more.

He's grown to find comfort in the 'hair metal'. Billy told him that's what the stuff he listens to is called. He doesn't know exactly why. He still teases Billy about it the music sometimes. Whines that it hurts his ears or that they are waaay too out of pitch. Billy just nods and says 'mhm.'

So for Billy's birthday, just to let him know that he does actually like his stuff, he gets him a new copy of 'Too Fast for Love'. He also splurges a bit and gets him 'Shout at the devil' and Poison's 'Open up and say aaaah'. The store clerk had been very patient with him when he had tried to describe the first Motley Crue cassette by telling him the song lyrics from it.

So he hopes all that social embarressment has paid off. And when he gives them to Billy on his birthday while they are sitting on the hood of the camero he can see in his eyes that it is. And he can't explain why, but now, Motley Crue is one of his new favourite bands.

Do you think Steve cries himself to sleep at night, not because of everything he’s seen, but because he’s finally come to terms with the fact that he loved Billy. He yearns to kiss him, to have a moment where they let out all their rage and anger in a hate fuck and then continued on to touch each other softly in the morning light. Cries about them laughing and exchanging high school stories and sharing soft kisses in the golden hour glow. But he can’t, because he watched Billy die, 10 feet away from him. And he’ll never know if that boy felt the same or if he would have decked Steve for even having such thoughts. But he still cries, because he wants to touch or be touched by Billy one last time, even if it’s just a kiss from his fist.
