I want to mention that I kinda assumed this was supposed to be what's inside of the worm portal when Sonic traveling between the real world and cyberspace.

Idk why I'm just curious about this due to the glitch effect from this scene🤔

This last episode was the episode that has a huge distinction between the comic and the TV ones. We could see them from how they did with the city perspectives of planet Machina.

In the book, the heroes fight the enemy on top of the building. In tv version, we get to see the grand image of the city itself.

We get to see how big the scale of its final form in the book ver. Acting as if he was some sort of ... uuuuuuugh ... Kaijus or maybe Cybertron level. His movements are big so it compensates with a bunch of wires to reach their targets faster. Meanwhile, the TV one ver made a unique appearance with it's smaller size in the shape of … I dunno...

What is THAT thing???

Though aesthetically wise, the tv ver portrayed the city well. But for design wise, I personally prefer the comic version since it has a vision towards what the battle will go on against Boboiboy.

So how to compensate for the same level of threat of its counterpart? Simple. Showing the audience that it was eating the citizens in real time.

But that's gonna spike up the ratings, isn't it?

Then you must do it smoothly, as in this clip below.

The camera didn't immediately show the full scale of the Robo-dumpster’s mouth in close-up. The movement was also quick and it positioned a bit off frame in the bottom right(with the spark effect also covered it too). That's why almost you didn't realize there were real people being eaten alive on 4k until few seconds later. Fortunately they're robots so ... I guess it made the whole scene safer to some degree 😕

I forgot to mention the important part! This ep and the 3rd one were essentially two parts of the comic issue 17. I noticed this as analyzing back to back when I reviewed ep 3.

This ep was the extended version of the whole fight scene in the city so they put a lot of creativity here.

Another big reference that I absolutely love Sir Nizam as Adu Du was in this clip.

Also—Adu Du's armor was a grasshopper????? That's sick!!!

I know there are many references for bow turned dual sword user, but I can't help that he reminds me of Pit from the Kid Icarus series.

Not long after that we finally get to see the MechaGentar transformation.

Referring to what I said before, this scene below is the reason I prefer the comic ver.

You can see the decreasing scale when both standing on ground with multiple buildings surrounding them. Meanwhile the comic parts, both literally gigantic so the citizens felt like witnessing a real life Pacific Rim, Gundam or even Evangelion's fights against the giants.

One of the highlights I appreciated so much was the reuse assets from the previous planet, which in this case the comeback of planet Kadruax and Windara.

Does it feel like it was wasting time and dragging the peak of action by jumping between planets?

...

50/50.

I kinda hope they raise the fight scene by showing more of the city than jumping between portals to linking the thread from previous arcs.

Then again I guessed it could take more work for the animation team since the comic ver didn't actually expand the city further(hence why it mostly took place on rooftops). But at the same time the tv ver already grandiose it of what I presume we were at the city hall.

And we need more colors! The whole Gentar's arc was filled with saturated pallettes that could be a boredom if they keep doing this too long.

This might not be a problem but I have to remind you this is a kids show, and kids need neurons with bright colors! So I take this takeaway as a breath of fresh air after all that saturated stuff.

As always I will put my Chai relatable gif because of this scene. 😘

Gotta give Monsta praise with "saving Ochobot" part. It's suspenseful enough with the stakes so the way they ended it felt really rewarding.

And now we finally get to the tearful scene. The end of Boboiboy vs Adu Du era.

Truthfully, it still leaves a deepest scar in my heart. Because to me, whatever the big enemy that could haunt the heroes, at the end of the day Adu Du was supposedly the iconic villain that should never ever be replaced. Just Mario with Bowser and Sonic with Eggman.

Though, I shouldn't compare the video game franchises to the tv franchises. Not apple to apple imo.

He's the one that made Boboiboy become today.

And ... Oh man I can't....

But it is what it is and the boat already sails so we just have to wait and see for the future story.

Oh yeah! Remember my assumption about the season 3 theorys?

Turns out the man himself finally talked about this too!

There are 4 highlights from him but I only put two due to the Tumblr law 🫤

It makes me wonder what they will be cooking with this.

My conclusion to this arc: I'm glad they didn't make the fans angry by closely resembling to the comic version AND also they weren't treating this arc as a filler arc. I myself enjoy this arc more than I thought. Sure it has a fair share of flaws but honestly it's a fun arc for rewatch. I realized when I'm making this impression I rewatch this arc more so than the previous arcs. That's... surprising 🤔

“Shadow? A-are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“I’m … fine. Just a sore—”

BOOM!

Second was a bite.

“Shadow!!”

“Maria!? Maria!! Where are you?!”

Third was a shred.

The ripping sound exploded within a second. What had been poking out in disturbance was finally bailed out. The force he felt before, sent him on the floor along with red stinky fresh blood splattered around.

He couldn't scream. He couldn't shout. He couldn't move. Whatever came out on his back drained his energy to get up. His whole body almost went into a seizure as his back kept extending. Fast.

Another crunched noise pushed him to stay lower on the floor whereas the thing on his back went higher. Without stopping, that gurgling sound quickly solidified. It spread long and wide. Big enough to cover his whole miserable appearance.

The whole evolution was beyond painful. Drained with no will to move an inch. His body slobbering like a jelly. He never knew how heavy the air was whenever he breathed.

Yet…

That shredded pain suddenly went away the moment that … thing was released. It… healed his never-ending back sore. His shoulders felt … lighter. For the first time, he felt … relief?

It didn't make sense…!

He slowly looked at his hands and his lower body. Not even any scratches were made.

So… where was the problem—?!

His iris quickly shrunk as he finally adjusted to the huge winded thing covering almost his body. It branches like a tree trunk with its sharp edges dangling on each side of its wings.

Wings…

The immense pain in his back…

The shredded wide open scar…

The cracked bones…

He had just unleashed another form in his body.

“Shadow…”

The bump shocked his heart. His head abruptly turned to his left:

Nothing.

To his right:

Also nothing.

So where did the voice came from?! It sounded painfully close to his ear!

Without missing a beat, a sharp pain stung all his nerves. The stinginess electrocuted every fiber sense inside his body. The sudden numb losing his stance as he slumped onto all four once again. This time, waking up was a pulling waste of energy and his breathing became more unbearable to do.

Wh-what just happened?? Why he suddenly—

BOOM

Explosions erupted and voices screamed in dissonance woke him up. The tall, black smoke that arose behind buildings caught his attention. Was that what caused it? Was there a burned house? He had no idea. But that quake was not a mere explosion. He lost Maria and that smoke gave him an awful suspicion.

Wait…

Maria!!

His eyes squinted sharply at the smoke. What if one of those screams was her's?! What if she was injured too?!

What if she's….badly hurt?

He did not know how to compensate, he could not stood, or thought for the moment.

All he knew was the image of her laying down on the pool full of a stinky metallic smell coming from her stomach. Was it true? It felt too real.

No…

Her eyes were staring at him and not at the same time. Those cloudy colors of the sky slowly fade into dull. The eyes of warmth he wished he had instantly gone in a blink.

No…

Her lip that was once curved up, slowly followed a hand fall down to the floor.

He couldn't save her, again.

He couldn't protect her, again.

He failed her…

All because of them…

They must pay...

They must pay!

“Awaken”

The agonizing roar rippled the pool of black liquid as it was reacting to him. The calming substance abruptly jerked into a wave, covering his entire appearance into a cocoon. The ebony hedgehog did not startled by this quick envelopment surrounding him. The hot boiling veins were the only thing he cared about as the bones started cracking furiously to become one with the black goo itself.

Those hatred emotions fueled his rage that he did not notice his body slowly swallowed into the goo until his voice stopped. He could still sense his surroundings. In fact, his nerves spike up to beyond hundred. He not only heard, but also felt every drop of his blood as the goo kept reshaping in abnormal form. Rounds, cubes, any kinds of fluid shape somehow seemed disturbing yet it was natural to him.

As if he experienced this phenomenon. Perhaps a bit too natural.

The abstract shape quickly pulled their blood work as the form started to become into a two legged figure. The goo swirled back to solidify his majestic wings. Showing a new appearance that was absolutely unrecognizable.

The skin almost all peeled up and left with bare muscles and veins in the open. The changes were also significant in his moveable organs, the hands and feets had less fingers into three rather than the usual five, with bulkier and claws as sharp as a razor. Next to the upper part, the white sclera in his eyes covered fully in red pupils. Those black tinted red quills are no longer solid, six long spike tentacle swinging alive non-stop. His pointy ears and nose blanketed by his thick darkened muscles, yet he could still breath normally.

It was a stunningly wild experience. He felt something open inside his core, a chain that strangled his pains, his struggle. It felt… relieved.

As he stood the last gurgling sound above his red pupils, another lid opened. Showing a new yellow tinted red one eye. The iris thin as a needle with black the sclera aiding to the theme.

“Rise my creation.”

The middle eyes glow by the ancient sound booming inside his head. It soothing through every veins, every senses, every muscles. The voice unlocked the deepest memory box that he was proud to become his only servant. He never saw his master's face, yet his words was an absolute.

His wings flapped big waves as he suspended to the air. He may not be able to see clearly with his red eyes but he could distinct the smell of blood miles aways. Not only smell it, through the fiber of his tentacles, he differentiate every blood that has been splattered. Humans, animals, and this weird smell who has a similar chemical as him… but somehow unfamiliar?

“If you let me, my creation…”

The cracking sound awakened his observation and slowly the middle eye released itself from the head. Leaving with big holes that almost saw the bone inside his head. He did not feel any pain as he recovered it quickly. But the middle part which was shaped like a starfish somehow has an ability to fly with it.

His blurry sight suddenly became clear and the first thing he saw was…himself. He never knew how different he looked before until he viewed it from the third eye. It was surreal moment to witness.

The Middle eye immediately dashed to the right side of him as it observed a bunch of people being slaughtered by monsters. Not just any monsters, it was exactly similar to himself! But they also didn't exactly like him? Big, small, various tentacles and many undescribable things he could not decipher.

He was supposed to be the only one who was created by his master! What was going on?!

“Do not be afraid, My creation.”

The voice booming inside him again. But this time, he felt reassured by the tone of it. It knew his struggle. Que enough, it gained his confidence back as the starfish eye rocketed from its sightseeing back to the top of his head. He could not tell how appease the sensation was. The missing puzzle finally became one again.

“Now do as I command.”

The second his middle eye shone, his wings gave a big wave. He dashed towards the area with unbreakable speed.

He was ready to share his pain to everyone against him.

Something I love abt Sonic characters is that the designs are just so unique in the most non-complicated way possible. Theyre recognisable and interestingly coloured without being too detailed or blurry.

My favorite design is Tails simply because he is so simple. He is an antropromorphic fox with white gloves and shoes that ud expect from the older games. But what makes him so unique? He has two tails instead of one, but it doesnt stop there, oh no no no, he can ROTATE THEM LIKE A HELICOPTER and fly!

Its one of those clever details that catches your attention immeadietly simply because its easy to understand yet so unexpected. Everything else about Tails is very much just a normal fox that ud expect from the way other characters are designed, yet that little extra ability he has makes him 10 times more interesting. Yeah im nerding alot abt this, but I remember playing the mario Vs Sonic olympic games when I was a kid and just LOSING MY MIND when I saw Tails for the first time. (I had never heard of him before). Even 10 year old me recognized how clever his design was. It just made sense in the most backwards way possible lmao.

Absolutely perfect character design, nothing tops the concept of “fox with two tails can spin them like a helicopter and fly“. Its just PERFECT.

I will find any excuse to gush abt this character🧡

adding on to that very good fan theory abt boboiboy understanding that the elements are alive in way, i feel like boboiboy lost control of beliung from the way he wanted to give it away, like he started to think of beliung as something to be given away idk if this makes sense but-

boboiboy lost control over beliung because he started to see beliung more of a power (thing to given away?? cant word this right) instead of smthing thats sentient

also a part of me feels that beliung has some leftover feelings over windara and/or trying to cling to boboiboy which is why he went berserk on reramos (i feel like this is a bit too fanfic-y)

This is just another shameless plug of how I like Adu Du in this shot. 

Though it’s a shame why they get rid the robe after ep 2. At least keep the robe until the end like its counterpart.

There’s a significant difference here between comic and tv versions. 

1. How Gentar discovered his ability between the comic and the tv ver really shown here. In the book, he managed to power up the computer via his hand to conduct the electricity. 

Whereas the other media was consistently using his hammer as a conduit. 

I found it interesting why they made changes for this. Perhaps monsta wanted to state it clear that his battery power was within himself and the hammer acted as a “wire” to absorb and transfer the energy inside out? I guess so. The hammer ultimately worked as Thor did with his weapons. It was the part of his power no matter what.

The other difference was the unexpected guest who showed up before the next arc. And yes I’m talking about Roktaroka.

To be fair, I honestly forgot about the ep 1 even though he had already been teased in that briefing scene. But I think his presence here was to speed up the timeline and ease the animation team’s work for the upcoming Baraju. Guarantee Baraju arc might not be as accurate as Gentar.

I already mentioned this reason in the first ep anyway. 

Same as always, the rest of the story follows the comic pattern––with a slight twist. Mainly with how the fight scene went on. 

Again, I have to mention that both TV and comic are equivalent to each other. They balance what they lack. For example, I like that the comic ver gave Gopal and Qually a distraction scene more while tv portraying Gentar and Adu Du’s fight. 

Whichever you prefer is up to you. 

Also one of my curiosity from comic to tv was how Monsta would able to convey the Ochobot's corruption part.

And my prediction is correct. He didn't make the cut.

Ochobot was silent throughout the scene with the occasional words when he was back to himself for a moment. The comic part he was loud and greedy like any other talking robot who got caught.

Whereas the tv version, only Jo and Probe who did talk(by the command of Nubot). Others were silent including ochobot.

There's also a small difference during the part when Ochobot slightly awakens and how they escape from Oboi.

Comic ver did the classic vulnerable tactics where the savior loses his stance for a moment to help, but in a flick of switch the victim tricked him and turned the table with their sudden next move(in this case, Ochobot was instantly corrupted by Nubot again)

Meanwhile the tv version didn't do this and he only did what he ordered by Nubot.

My subjective conclusion to this was that Monsta purposely avoiding Ochobot's corrupted mode in the tv version just to keep the ratings not fastly spiked from E to E10+ or T . The signs are already there since the first ep anyway. The lighting, the ambiance, the looks, it all added up.

Though I don't want to normalize it, but nowadays, scary things behind kid's friendly environment are more likeable with children than adults. Biggest examples: FNAF, Sonic E.X.E, Poppy's Playtime, Amanda the Adventurer, The Amazing Digital Circus, etc.

While I do think Monsta can do that, I really respect they decreasing the horror theme to a certain degree. It's for tv after all. Every example I put above isn't and they are likely free to do so since most of them are indies and published on the internet. It's free real estate.

The next one is the penultimate finale. I already have ep 4 shots gathered so I can finally settled this arc faster.

One thing to note from Racing Crossworlds: they didn't waste the assets of Mario & Sonic franchises.

Exhibit one, Tails' animation in the selection mode was based on his gold medal winning animation.

Exhibit two, the use of chao's spectators along with the emblem flags are still intact.

Hey everyone! I want to compare the Chaos Island tracks from SxSG to the Frontiers ones, so this is part one of that exploration.

The 7th movement of these tracks is always the most realized, with the most tension. Here, we start with a slowly swelling brass chorus, led by the full, warm tones of french horns and trombones. The harpsichord is a unique touch, and I believe it's present through all the movements to characterize the sound of the island. The brass soars again with elongated trumpet lines. The B section has nice chordal contrast. Overall, this track is more assured and grounded than some of the other island themes, which seem agitated and nervous in comparison. This track is smooth, with its underlying heavy tom work in the drums and long, soaring lines with some arpeggios. Oh, and this track also has vocal lines buried deep in the mix! The "toy piano" sound toward the end that takes center stage has lovely arpeggiated lines and ties the ends of the track together with the trumpet lines.

There is a reverent feel here--we have learned a lot about the islands and their heritage by this point, so this track feels like an homage to those who tread before here. It's so fun when the music accompanies the story telling!

After I watched the ep and read the comic back and forth. Gentar’s arc might be the first who is closely accurate on one another. No cramped multiple issues within one episode like Sori or drastic changes like Windara.

Sure there's still some differences here and there. But to me, both are equivalent to each other. As in the tv compliment what the book doesn't have and vice versa.

In this episode, the main star of the show is the return of the 'BuBaDiBaKo' team. Kinda didn't expect they would come back this early! The comic ver was only mentioned at the end of the arc!

For those of you who don't know, this team debuted in the original Boboiboy season 3. It consist of, you guessed it: Boboiboy, Gopal, and Adu Du.

The name itself was an abbreviation for “Budi baik dibalas Koko” which translates to:

For context, this team was made because Adu Du felt a bit stressed to revive Probe who tragically died in the early season. He desperately needed cocoa for extra help. Therefore, he forcedly attempted to hijack Tok Aba's shop publicly (keyword: tried).

As always, he failed miserably. But unlike previous times in the good old villain trope—“I'll be back for revenge!”—Kinda thing, this time he got a chance to redeemed himself by Tok Aba and Boboiboy in exchange for cocoa. That's why he abruptly changed his appearance in order to succeed at that. He even went to school and blended with society to do good deeds. With the help of Gopal and Oboi, thus the operation 'BuBaDiBaKo' was born that day.

Of course, it's just a temporary tho where the team only lasted for two episodes. Once Probe was revived, Adu Du was back to his usual self and everything went to their normal shenanigans like nothing happened. :D

And same as the previous ep, the rest of the story followed the same pattern. Not directly toe to toe between the book and the screen ‘till the end, like there's an extra scene from tv ver where the enemy easily detected the gang due to…Gentar's high impudence with his 'Thor's Stormbreaker' hammer lmao.

(I don't know the name of the weapon so let's just assumed it's Thor's)

It's kinda debatable about his attitude within fandom. On one side people were annoyed by his unusual clumsiness, on the other side people were frantic about his wild trait and sometimes referring him to his dad aka Mechamato especially since season 3 came out before Gentar's.

Me? I'm at the fence. As I said before in the preview post, fusion characters aren't my favorites and I already tell my reason why. But I'm not gonna be so critical about them when I myself also like their designs and appearances(Supra my beloved 😍).

Regardless, the next ep gonna dive into Gentar's downed scene after Ochobot gets kidnapped. I'm interested in what Monsta does to tweak his redemption arc.
