Heya!!!

I am starting school on September 2nd, so I am really nervous about the whole enterprise and how it will go for me. I hope I am smart enough for college, since I was stuck being a military gal for 6 years. I have always dreamt of going to school so I can help people, and I am finally gonna make this happen!

I am a big part of the warhammer 40k fandom now thanks to my husband. I really am in love with Titus and how much he reminds me of my OC Bruno (The episode from Secret Level is SOOOOO GOOD)

My favorite movie at the moment is The Wild Robot by Dreamworks. It's so funny and beautifully done.

As far as books, I haven't found anything that I am really into, but I did buy Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir for my husband, and he is loving it!

I have been enjoying being out in nature or in my office/cafe. If I could go anywhere, it would be Uppsala, Sweden. It's magnificent and gorgeous, and I am planning on making Swedish my 5th language!

I'm gonna actually cry. I can't believe I have a few people over the internet that actually care about me and me being alive. It's hard to think that I would have a small circle of good people that care and love with all their hearts. After all the years of dealing with abuse and whatnot, this is... a really nice feeling. If you could choose a superpower for yourself, what would it be?

Honestly, if I had a super power, it would be I can't break my bones due to falling. Literally that's it. I can fall and get a scrape or bleed out, but broken bones??? I already dealt with that so many times while in the military. I can't handle the amount of pain and burden that puts on my family. So there we go! No broken bones for meeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hello yes, tell me, what's it like having such a compelling cast of ocs and the ability to write such good tension and team dynamics?

Oh my gosh nuhhhhhhh

In all actuality, it is scary how much i doubt myself when so many do tell me I have a gift for writing or having a great grasp of my OC cast. That being said, I am just happy to know that maybe not everyone hates my work. It helps push me to write more and even look into writing different prompts or scenarios that would have otherwise seemed too difficult. It's funny how much of my personal experience and life i put into these characters, so when people love them, it feels like they love me in a way.

I did the workout! 💪🏻 A short 15 minute Pilates and a handful of sprints on the treadmill.

Then about 20 minutes of stretching. Lol. “A little bit is better than nothing” was my motivation for the day, so thank you. 💖

Favorite animal is a German Shepherd. They are so derpy and cute!!! Like my baby girl Zelda.

She has an ottoman at the window she watches out of to spy on the local fauna and neighbors. Protector of all that is good in my little Minnesota apartment.

My favorite flower... I love snap dragons because I make them go *nom* by squeezing the right spot on them.

Favorite color is basically blue, but I like something darker and more... vibrant? I think there's a color called Singing the Blues? I used that to paint my basement back when I lived in Omaha, Nebraska.

Favorite song right now is To the Wilder by Woodkid. It just slaps so hard. Here ya go!

Favorite bird is the Minnesota loon? I don't know exactly why... okay maybe I do.

I always obsess over stoic whumpee having to keep a serious demeanor even in the roughest of times because if they fall/show weakness, the team feels it. It's just something that makes me have whumperflies to my core.

Another favorite of mine is touch adverse whumpees due to PTSD of a previous wound. So like Bruno's chest wound makes him virtually untouchable on a good chunk of his body. Too long a hug, and it makes him have flashbacks, but thankfully, he's gotten better about it. A shove, though? Nah, he's going to be on the floor.

Dude you left the military just in time!

I... I definitely realized that over the week. For those who didn't know me, is used to be an Airborne Cryptologic Language Analyst for the US Air Force. My language? Persian Farsi and Afghan Dari... basically what they speak in Iran and parts of Afghanistan.

Having been in the intel community during the past few years until I changed jobs to being medical, I am shocked by everything that happened. It sucks when you watch the news, see what's happening while having the little bit of... privy knowledge... that I know. You can't tell your spouse to shut the TV off or scream at the television or have a mental breakdown because of things you were forced to listen in on.

Anyways, this is all just insane and I'm glad to be out, because this would have landed me back in the psych ward for a few days while I relive certain nightmares. Love you guys <3

During my training (both as intelligence and then later medical), I had to do these before. DHA is a fucking menace when it comes to training as they don't really go into it too much until you are actually in TCCC training for either combat/getting rated so you're good by the time you deploy. At one point, they set up a simulation with explosions and gun fire, and I'm rushing up to these bodies, trying to figure out which ones are worth saving (which in it of itself is whumpy as fuck since you play a probability game of who is more likely to survive your tomfoolery and dragging their asses back to a somewhat secure area). I see the props they have that are screaming and squirting blood (fake thank fuck) all over me and I pick the more intact looking one.

Tell my why this bloke decided to get shot in the chest and have an exit wound in the back? I start to drag them and the prop is literally going "Agh it hurts! You're killing me!" And I recall almost slipping in the blood around me. This prop also had full gear on and was acting as dead weight, so you're dragging a good... 250 pounds or roughly about that...

All while trying not to die yourself and save them. I was applying chest seals while getting covered from one of my friends. Needless to say, when doing these, just be ready to take the fattest nap ever afterward. Just be ready to clean the blood.

Whump & Carries/Drags

After going down that Combat Medic rabbit hole, allow me to put heavy emphasis on the one-person drag. Specifically, the Neck Drag pictured at the bottom right of this image.

Yes, we see the support carry, arm drag, and pack-strap carry very frequently in fiction. I would really, really like to see the Neck Drag used more frequently (please do hmu if you have written or read something with this drag being used <3).

The neck drag is when the injured party clasps their hands together behind the medic's neck, or the medic ties their hands together if they're unconscious. The medic then bear crawls forward until cover or safety is reached, where they can change to an easier carry or drag position, address immediate medical needs, or get carrying assistance from another medic. If the injured party is heavy, the medic would have to crawl forward in short bursts (almost like a scooting motion).

This makes for a very uncomfortable but effective way of extraction for the injured party. Now, if you like romantic tension when writing, this is a great form of forced proximity because the characters are practically on top of one another for the entire duration of this carry - not to mention the medic has to straddle the injured party at the start. Obviously they would have more pressing matters in mind, but us writers are all the same and you know it <3

So, take this idea and run with it! I already mentioned this resource in a previous post, but I'll share it again if you want to see more details. It's very helpful for writing research! Plus there are video demonstrations on how to apply different types of tourniquets, and of course the different carries and drags like the ones mentioned above.
