Mean Words, Kind Glances AU: Nicky and Shadow

Here's a toxic yuri Shadnicky AU created by me and @platinumspook! This is a new AU that started as a silly idea, but quickly developed into something we have become super invested in.

Cw: Bullying, unhealthy dynamics

Nicky is a stereotypical nerd: she loves both tabletop and video games, being on her computer, watching anime and movies, and she loves reading and books so much she became a literature major. She is a smart girl with a heart of gold, but her sillier side is hidden under all her shyness and nervousness. Nicky really wants to be more confident, but she finds herself being bullied again even in university. A girl named Shadow especially loved bossing her around, but for some reason Nicky almost looks forward to seeing her every day…

Shadow is a musicology major who truly meant it when she said her emo fashion is not just a teenage phase. She has a bit of a bad reputation on campus, and most students avoid her and instead spread nasty rumors about her. Nicky sees her as a fellow bullied soul and attempts to befriend her, only to end up being bullied and bossed around by Shadow instead. While Shadow appears cold, distant, and cruel, there might be something more underneath all that tough act. At least she’s a good kisser, based on the way she rewards Nicky with smooches after the shy nerd does her assignments for her…

Favorite Digimon meme

I've seen this meme around and wanted to make my own version!

It was tough trying to choose only one character per slot (human character was especially hard but I went with the one I have the strongest emotional bond with). No hybrid stands out to me strongly so I went with jogress instead.

More yapping about my choices under the cut!

Baby: Pusumon is an easy choice because the design is cute, it's a hedgehog (or a hoglet in this case) and "pusu" means kiss in Finnish. It's just perfect. Honorable mentions: Yuramon, Poyomon, and Leafmon.

In-training: I think Chibimon's design is peak, it just looks so cute. I really want a plushie of him, especially one of those DigiPal beanbag ones. Honorable mentions: Pusurimon and Bosamon.

Rookie: Angoramon has recently became my favorite Digimon of them all, but can you blame me? The design has so many tropes I like, it's a BIG bnuuy, and the character in Ghost Game is such a sweetheart. Plus its many evolutions are so Paju targeted: one of them is like Sonic the Werehog (Lamortmon) and one is a KNIGHT (Diarbbitmon). Honorable mentions: Pillomon, Gomamon, and Patamon.

Champion: I seem to really like big fluffy Digimon... But Ikkakumon is such a cool one, and I just really love Gomamon's line... Plus walruses and narwhals are one of my favorite animals, and Ikkakumon is like a combination of them both. Honorable mentions: Tailmon and Growlmon.

Ultimate: As a kid I didn't really care for humanoid Digimon but I appreciate the designs now. Angewomon has a special place in my heart, mostly because I love Tailmon's line... Plus it's a cool badass angel. I even have a big statue of Angewomon- She used to be my favorite for a long time until Angoramon hopped right into my heart- Honorable mentions: Lamortmon, Zudomon, and Pajiramon.

Mega: Another one to reveal I'm a furry- But Callismon is like a mix of a werebear and a werewolf, and it's a BIG boy... So it's very Paju targeted. Honorable mentions: Diarbbitmon and Rosemon.

Human: This was a tough one, because they are so many I like... But I went with Hikari Yagami because I have the strongest emotional bond with her, since I've liked her since I was a kid. I went with the Zero Two design because that show has a special place in my heart. And of course I had to add Tailmon, because she's easily one of my favorites. Perhaps this drawing takes place after the episode where she gets the holy ring back. Honorable mentions: Miu Shinonome from Digimon Survive, Kazu and Kenta from Digimon Tamers (let's face it, those two are a package deal), Joe Kido from Digimon Adventure, and Ruli Tsukiyono from Digimon Ghost Game.

Jogress: Shakkoumon is cool. Plus it's my boyfriend's favorite Digimon, so that automatically makes me appreciate the design even more. Honorable mention: Imperialdramon: Fighter Mode.

Armor: My favorite animal is sheep, so Sheepmon is an easy choice. It's a pink lamb with bazookas on its back, so what's not to love? Honorable mentions: Pegasmon and Nefertimon.
