2018 is a throwback, i drew that way back then. definitely could use a rework xd (phenexus doesn't exist anymore, and jfc all the old info on that blog is abhorrent)
the only way you'd realistically get a universal symbol / people to agree on one is if it just got shoehorned in and a good majority started using it. kind of like flags/emoji/character combos.
another issue is people in these communities like being reclusive, esp with how bad others often react. This poses a unique problem because by using or making a symbol, people arent likely to use it as it more easily allows people to see it and go "oh, youre an idiot who thinks they can physically become an animal".
as cool as a symbol would be, i dont know if it's completely plausible.
We as a community don't always have a connection with each other due to how scarce our environment is online and offline. As someone dedicated to making sure that I hear my community, I seem to sometimes forget that I am in the community myself and that I am able to step up and say things. That even if I am unprofessional with everything else, I can still talk about what the shifter community is looking out to be.
Like @palevulture said, the physical inhuman community is in a ROUGH spot because we simply don't care enough about this to be united. It's another part of us, so it's hard to ever put it into words about what it's like. Go out and ask a human what it's like living with hair. They'll respond with basic answers, nothing too focused on how it feels to live WITHOUT it. And so putting it into words about how our physical inhumanity, something we usually don't "awaken", but more or so "confirm", is hard to do.
And even harder is having a community purely based off of our metaphysical/physical experiences. Because we're often seen as "crazy".
So I wanted to write, and ask, why do we not have a collective symbol? We have sublabels and subsets, but not a symbol for all meta/physical inhumans?
We have symbols like the pshifter symbol by the phenexus weyr in 2018.
Tumblr media
Then we have shapeshifter symbols from an alterhuman goodreads group in 2012.
Tumblr media
But other than that? We have reduced ourselves to basically being quiet so that thelouder majority can talk about our experiences.

mannn. 14 years since i first found the mythic community. time flies by so fuckin fast. the community has changed so much since 2010 and only continues to change over time.
our little corner of the internet is a lot smaller, but i gotta say- way less drama and weird shit than there used to be lmao. ill always kinda miss those weird “cults” (re:14 year old child trying to run a group and being 14 at the same time- there were maybe 2 actual cults the rest were just toxic lol), and the war predictions, and all the forum posts about running away and starting a whole mythical society.
everyone took it so seriously back then, i think it’s really cute. nostalgia, mostly. there was some real awful shit back then too, doxxing and death threats and the usual, but the fun little unrealistic and naive parts of the community will always have a soft part in my heart.

THE wing graph. Enjoy. DM me if u need help working with it bc it is a little anti-layman
the graph is left so large and open so you can use it for humanoids or winged creatures like dragons or gryphons.

"P-shifters are following psychotic people to make them into clinical lycanthropes to control them in cults" is on par with conservatives saying that kids are identifying as cats and peeing in litterboxes because of woke culture
Pardon my skepticism, but that's a 4D move that I don't think even abusive p-shifters have thought up, and also, isn't clinical lycanthropy an uncontrollable expression of psychosis? Especially clinical lycanthropy, even judging from some posts here the condition is not controllable by other people, if someone was purposefully trying to make a cult of clinical lycanthropes, that would fall apart fast I would think?
But also, most p-shifters don't claim to have psychosis or suffer with clinical lycanthropy, and hang around other supernaturals instead. If you, as a psychosis blogger with a form of clinical lycanthropy, are attracting p-shifters left right and center, might it be the case that some of those p-shifters want education, maybe so they can figure out what's wrong with them (if something is wrong with them) or that (shocker) they're clinical lycanthropes who identify with the p-shifter label.
Additionally, all the active p-shifters I can see have either a) put warnings on their blog for delusional and psychotic individuals b) block individuals who may be at risk for these issues, or c) keep to their own circles. Call me stupid if there's a secret little cabal of evil p-shifters that are trying to make clinical lycanthropes for some nefarious purposes, but I really don't think that's what's going on here?

I'm getting annoyed at seeing people try to associate "p-shifter" itself with cults or convincing other people they can shift.
There's a good portion of us who don't believe you can make someone into a shifter or otherwise believe that it's genetic and non-transferrable (it's part of the reason why there's so many debates in the community and subliminal users are shunned) and it's generally considered a red flag if someone is trying to push others to transform or claims to have the secret to doing so (which is why some creeps like Adam have been shunned). Those who do believe in it still don't believe it's something that will be found online by chatting to strangers, and most (if not all) will not advocate for meeting strangers online for this. Nobody normal is meeting a stranger to get turned or trying to turn others online.
Like, the reason why most of us are using "p-shifter" is either because the wider community gave us that word (otherkin and therians label us p-shifters - we just call ourselves shifters or shapeshifters) or because it gets to the point of what we experience and separates us neatly from otherkin/therians. We're not using it as a calling card for cult making or grooming, jfc.
There have been cults and creeps in the past that have labeled themselves as p-shifters to try and take advantage of others, but obviously the majority of shifters aren't doing this. Abusers don't label themselves as abusers; these individuals took advantage of the blind spots in the community to cause harm. They would call themselves anything and do anything to cause harm- p-shifting is not some special idea that allowed this to happen.
We're not excusing the harm and have been doing what we can to patch up the blind spots of course, but what I am saying is that the abusers and manipulators aren't representative of our community, nor are these things inherent to the idea of physical shifting.
If a shifter tries to convince you you can shift or "turn you", especially if you know you can't, that's a problem. But a vast majority of us are literally just here existing and discussing our experiences. We're not trying to harm anybody.
