Stuck with you: Chapter 6 (Sneak Peek)

Lucifer waited until the crowd had settled before speaking once again, "I'm pleased to announce the arrival of my dear friend, Fraus Davids. Many of you may know him from his splendid work on Zombie Battle Extreme Revenge Four."

Lucifer was forced to pause as the crowd began to holler and cheer, the volume only increasing without interruption. To which Alastor was then forced to flatten his ears against his head in lieu of tearing the blasted things off. Sensitive hearing was rarely a boon, he'd learnedover the years.

Vox shifted in place, evidently startled at the crowd's enthusiasm. Not that he could blame him. Even so, Alastor watched him scan the masses, perhaps looking for the source of the odd reaction.

Looking back up at the balcony, Alastor was greeted to the sight of Fraus puffing up like a peacock at the applause, looking ever so pleased with himself. He almost looked as if he wasn't scripting the mad adoration for his own ego boost. Perhaps he had forgotten.

Thankfully, Fraus seemed to finally grow impatient, and placed a single hand on Lucifer's shoulder to push himself in front of the king and to the edge of the balcony.

The room immediately settled into an awed silence- they barely seemed to breathe as they waited for this man to say his piece. And, unfortunately, they didn't have to wait long.

"You guys sure know how to make a guy feel welcome!" He teased, a smirk firmly in place as the crowd erupted into rambunctious laughter. They abruptly stopped a few moments later at a raised hand, like trained dogs.

"Now, I know we're all here to celebrate the charming union of Alastor and dear old Vox," Fraus continued on, biting out the most positive adjective he could manage, "but I have just a few words to say first."

Alastor bit back a groan. More words?

"We all know that Vox has been the top dog of the entertainment world for decades. And why wouldn't he be? I mean, the guy even got himself mentored by the fucking Radio demon the minute he landed here!"

Alastor raised an eyebrow as the man's speech. Surely he could have lasted just a little longer before losing his composure?

He flicked his ear as Vox scoffed at the man's performance, a statement he whole heartedly agreed with, forgetting the crowd's strange behaviour in favour of focusing on this doomed spectacle.

On the balcony, Fraus wasn't quite finished making a fool of himself. He gripped the balcony's railing with one hand to keep steady as his other hand began to wave in the air wildly.

"I mean, what's rarer? The Overlord killer helping someone become an Overlord, finding partners who don't want you dead, or dominating the entirety of the media for years?!"

The crowd watched in eerie silence as Fraus stopped to heave loudly over the railings to regain his composure. Alastor was forced to wait in suspense for the man's next move. Surely, he would to get to the point eventually.

Eventually, Fraus stood straight once more, coughing lightly into his hand before smiling widely at the audience once more, "I guess some guys get all the lucky breaks, am I right?"

"But who cares about the past? I mean, it's just as Vox has always said: 'the only thing that matters is the present'. And Vox, the present is going to change dramatically."
