lan wangji, upon learning that students in his class are cheating on their assignments with ChatGPT, engineers a way of phrasing his homework questions such that they cannot be answered by ChatGPT. this does not prevent people from rephrasing the questions and then asking ChatGPT anyways, but it at least catches the students who just copy/paste everything into ChatGPT.

wei wuxian, upon learning that students in his class are cheating on their assignments with ChatGPT, builds a fake ChatGPT-imitation site that logs the IP address of anyone who accesses it, and then bribes some of the reliable students in his class to spread the link among the rest of the student population. while he does not report anyone to the school's disciplinary body for cheating, he does succeed in scaring several students rather badly.

nie huaisang, upon learning that students in his class are cheating on their assignments with ChatGPT, offers 15% extra credit to any student who turns in another student for using ChatGPT. then he sits back and watches the chaos unfold.

i remember when mdzs first came out and i didn't know shit about the genre yet, so my friend and i found it in a bookstore and she went "grandmaster of demonic cultivation???? what is 'cultivation'. google says it's practicing agriculture. how can you do that demonically." and i was like "farming evilly and deviously......"

anyways this exchange became ten times funnier when i read mdzs years later and got to the part where everyone thinks wei wuxian is establishing a horrible evil demonic sect with the wen remnants but he's actually just trying to farm so they don't starve. doing some straight up evil and demonic and devious farming.

I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" super simple low-effort ao3 summary methods that are 1000% better and 1000% less annoying than just saying you suck at summaries:

copypaste the first few lines of the fic. u already wrote ‘em. let ‘em be their own damn hook

if ur feeling fancy & don’t mind showing ur hand a bit, copypaste the first few lines of the fic that u feel are esp. Important or Interesting - the ones where u first start getting into the real meat of things

state the main tropes! theyre probably already in ur tags - just say them again - maybe as a full sentence if ur feelin fancy. or with a joke if ur feelin Extra fancy

ask a question. pose a hypothetical. eg what happens if u take [character] and put them in [situation]?

make an equation. [character] + [thing] = [outcome]

just write like a one-sentence summary of what the fuck is going down. just one (1) sentence. doesnt matter if it doesn’t cover every important aspect. or if it sounds bland. any summary sentence is gonna be miles better than “idk i suck at summaries”

just…explain the fic like u would to a friend? it doesnt have to be a polished back of the book blurb. it can just be “[pairing] coffee shop au, but like, still with murder, and also i made everyone trans. enjoy”

just stick a meme in there
