After making a Live2D avatar as an experiment, I had the bright idea of using it to stream. The Pokemon VGC streams went well, but it later evolved (devolved?) into me drawing and rambling for an hour and doing shitty requests.

Some of the drawings ended up being finished pieces... then there's these.

got so happy they added Lacey to Masters and the Trainer Lodge that I spent a month starting this drawing and playing VGC and getting back to this a month later

Lacey is literally me, though, starting with the fairy type appreciation and ending with the finger guns.

Akira got added to DDR World after being an unnamed background character for LIKE 20 YEARS in arcade time

it was a crazy day; so much fan art came back to the Twitters

but my one complaint with this dazzling new Akira is they didn't really keep the pointed eyebrows, so I wanted to draw both the way I remember him and the way he is now.

The bar isn't exactly high but I think "The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World" might be one of my favorite isekais

Adorable protag with a tragic backstory, absolute self aware cheese and wackiness, a plot that hopefully goes somewhere

oh I keep forgetting to upload art here lol; I've just been more diligent about posting to my site.

I think part of it is the whole if-only-genai-sees-my-art-then-uploading-to-social-media-is-only-doing-harm paranoia, but I can get over that if I tell myself that my art style naturally poisons gen AI

or so I can only hope. I uh, never figured out how to use Glaze/Nightshade...

Had a dream last night that i was a knight and this bigger scarier knight had me on the ground and right before he swung his sword at my neck he said smth like "i mourn the loss of life for the tree who will become your coffin" which shouldnt have turned me on like it did but alas

I saw a post about "wow I can't believe you need ChatGPT to make a grocery list for you" and uh... confession: I am a grown ass adult who needs someone or *sigh* something to tell me what to eat. Maybe it's stupid how overwhelmed my brain gets with all I want to do vs all I need to do. Without direction, I eat "whatever's there" and my cholesterol winds up, well, where it is now, which is a huge problem I have been fighting for like 3 years...

But not ChatGPT. Frick ChatGPT. Frick AI. Besides the obvious environmental destruction, enabling the collapse of the workforce, hallucinations, etc another thing I hate on top of all of that is lack of control of the output. There are healthy foods I know I like, meals I actually have the patience to cook, but AI vomit doesn't know that nor do I care to educate it.

Way easier solution: use a list and a random number generator. Slick. Efficient. Customizable. I like Picker Wheel. I put like 50 meals I like on that list, edit the good choices to be bigger on the wheel, and just spin it 3-7 days in advance. Easy list. All things I like. AI can eat its own ass.

I know this still sounds lazy, but I guess the moral of the story is even lazy people don't need AI.

Kind of late, but wanted to do a 2024 art summary post. I didn't exactly finish something every month like I hope for each year. But thanks to art streams, I got more practice in than other years and wound up with over 12 pieces. And I'm kinda happy I made this much.

Seems I was still largely Pokemon and DDR-centric, but a bunch of other fandoms made it into rotation. Some that had been on the backburner for months, some for years. And I forsee a bigger focus on art for my visual novel... I hope I can uh, pace myself now that I'm seeing just how big the scope can get, and I remember to make other stuff.

My "dream" is not to be a social media artist (especially with AI ruining social media), and I refuse to make art for the sake of making content. I just want to improve/maintain the skill to share ideas and make the best goddamn bonkers comics/animations I can so people can enjoy them, and I do think practice is worth it. I think I did see improvement at this pace, or at least more consistency. So the goal is still like, averaging out one polished piece a month. Any more and I think I'll burn out; any less and I might get lazy/frustrated.
