This moment here demonstrates what I think is one of Carol's most interesting and underrated qualities: that she has a very reactionary mindset in that she always tries to force things back to a certain status quo instead of accepting change or things as they are.
I don't believe she's helping out Asgore financially just for some menial housework. I think the fact that she's also encouraging him to try to get back with Toriel demonstrates that she's trying to bring back her relationship with the Dreemurrs despite all the evidence that it's just not possible anymore.
AND WE ALSO SEE THIS WITH DESS'S ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fact that she preserves it perfectly as it was before her disappearance further shows that she's not the kind of person who likes to move on, as if she believes that doing anything to Dess's room (i.e. emptying it out of her possessions as one would do after the loss of a loved one) would signify to her there's no hope she's coming back (or that she knows she isn't gone if she had a hand in making her the Knight).
In a way, she is basically a living embodiment of the Snowgrave Run, in that she always forces things to be a certain way, and in doing so, makes the lives of the people they affect that much worse (in addition to being figuratively and literally cold AF).

I have thoughts and theyre extremely unorganized oughh
First, I think universal mother theory was onto something. Mainly talking about how people thought Toriel might be an alcoholic because of how Queen acts around Kris, and then boom chapter 4 ends with Toriel getting wine drunk
Related to that, that scene was weird right? I feel bad for thinking something was off, cause I saw someone else's interpretation of it being that Sans was helping her have fun for once and take a break, but I can't help but think something was off. Kris and Susie were out for probably HOURS without calling or texting to tell her where they were, Undertale Toriel probably would've been worried sick but deltarune Toriel wasn't even fazed. Granted she was drunk but before that I'm sure she would've worried, right?
I think maybe it ties into her allowing Kris to do a lot of things they shouldn't just cause she thinks they're just "things they do". I think, where Undertale clearly showed Asgore's faults (not that deltarune doesn't do that too, he's fucking weird in deltarune) deltarune is showing Toriel's. She's kinda... neglectful?
But then again, I don't know. Clearly Kris has been in some kind of therapy, so she'd know they have some issues, but then she just let's them stay in the bathroom with the water running for like, an hour? Doesn't clean up or question the blood stain in their room, doesn't question them not having much on their side of the room. She seems like the kind of person to act like nothings wrong, if something happened she'd pretend it didn't, dismissive
Shes kinda like that in Undertale too with how she tries to get you to stay with her. I don't know about yall but there's a pattern in deltarune of the adults failing these kids
And back to that ending scene, Sans doesn't help. Yall know I love Sans, but man if he don't just fuck shit up
I feel bad for Kris there for multiple reasons, first they have to come home to that after experiencing hell, they don't even know this guy and he's in their house dancing with their mom at ungodly hours of the night, and then they can't get any sleep because they're so fucking loud
I honestly wonder how chapter 5 is gonna start, I think if Sans stays over it's gonna be exteeeeemly uncomfortable. I swear if he tries to make any more "befriending your mom" jokes I'm makeing bone powder out of him (if Kris doesn't do it first)

MASSIVE DELTARUNE SPOILERS
I need to talk about that ending.
Correction- WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THAT ENDING-

This is…such a genius scene that seems so simple, but HAS SO MUCH BAGGAGE WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT. When I first saw it I felt the weirdest combination of emotions ive ever felt in my entire life and now I can’t stop thinking about this moment, so heres an attempt at putting those thoughts into words!
What makes it so interesting is that… yes, it is VERY FUNNY, AND an epic win for Soriel shippers…but…it feels so WRONG,
Kris and Susie were presumed MISSING well into the night, and Toriel seems to not even notice because of her drunkenness. Its incredibly irresponsible on her half, as she’s so distracted by “just having a little fun” (Queen Mom theorists be winning, Toriel has a drinking problem confirmed/hj)
The entire time I was laughing while going “oooooo….” Toriel thats not it girl. And when Susie left, the way Sans completely dismissed her and went “party back on yippee” also felt very off. Kris’ reaction to everyhing makes me so sad and put on edge by the whole thing, IT IS A GREAT SET UP TO THEIR OPINION ON THEIR HOME LIFE, THATS FOR SURE. At some point when Susie looks at Kris, they look away too, and when Toriel falls down they just walk away and refuse to go anywhere but their bedroom. which is just UGHHH I feel so bad for them, they’re tired of this shit
Tenna saying “We’re a happy family RIGHT KRIS???” and the whole Dark World in their house being centered around ACTING and being an ACTOR… hm.
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON PAPYRUS- This bits more my own biases, but it makes me sad imagining him being all alone in a messy house all night like this poor bastard 😭

theres just SO MUCH TENSION from Kris’ end, its so…ugh. The entire thing screams irresponsibility. It is insane tonal whiplash, but not for the funny reasons some may think on first viewing i think. From my perspective it went from somber pain, to more like…oh god. this sucks. so hard.
My opinion on Soriel has never been strong in either direction, but now I am just FASCINATED cause from this scene it feels like- toxic??? they’re enabling each others bad habits, like on the surface it seems innocent but in hindsight its incredibly irresponsible on Toriels half, and only maybe on Sans’, we still dont know his and Papyrus’ whole situation or anything.
But yeah I love when relationships are complicated and not always healthy! gives ME MORE TO ANALYZE

Deltarune Spoiler Question
So how on Earth do we tag the Shadow Mantle holder? "ERAM," like that one song? "Nightmare," since its music track files are prefixed with that (and it's clearly homaging Nightmare from Link'a Awakening)?

Haphazard Deltarune ch 3-4 thoughts (heavy spoilers under cut; might add more over time)
I THINK I MISSED THE CHAPTER 3 SHADOW CRYSTAL DAMMIT. I GOT THE MANTLE BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE TO GO FROM THERE.
The amount of Spamton leitmotifs in Chapter 3 was very disconcerting.
I predicted the Knight appearing in Chapter 3 ages ago, but I never posted it anywhere, so no one will believe me :(
99% sure the Knight is Dess now that my favored theory (Carol) is probably dead. (Carol's busy yelling at Noelle while the Knight is waiting in the church for Kris and Susie.) I actually thought that sword they wield was a bat at one point.
Secret boss Gerson was the best thing ever.
If they're breaking out the Knight and a TITAN this early, what is in store for the second half of the game?
I literally froze up when I heard Raining Somewhere Else.
Chapter 3 was pretty fun, but chapter 4 dragged on a bit and was less visually interesting. At least the ending spectacle kinda made up for it.

GARFIELD EVOLUTIONARY TIMELINE

1976: Proto-Garfield, side-character to Jon

1978: Earliest properly-recognizable Garfield, visual overhaul accompanies syndication and retitle of comic to Garfield

1979: Transitional state between proto-Garfield and 80s Garfield, marketed by increased anthropomorphization and larger, cartoonish expressions, while retaining a realistic body shape

1980-1984: 80s Garfield, facial structure has largely stabilized save for dimensions, noticeable retention of quadrupedal motion in most situations

1985-1992: Emergence of modern Garfield, shift towards predominantly vertical locomotion, expansion of feet, facial structure begins to horizontally compress and vertically extend

1989: [REDACTED]

1993-1999: Continued anthropomorphic shift, separation of head from torso and reduction of belly fat, noticeable

2000-present: stabilization of modern Garfield, head size reduced in final proportion alteration. Jim Davis had divined the final, perfect version of his pop culture homonculus.

...but the end of the road for one man is a broad horizon for the next...

HELP SHIRA SURVIVE A TRANSMISOGYNIST ATTEMPTED MURDER

Shira is a Turkish trans woman who was the victim of attempted murder by a man on the street who realized she was transfemme. After he stabbed her, dozens of people walked by her on the sidewalk until a teenager stopped and helped her.
Shira is now in the hospital in critical condition. She’s undergone emergency surgery and will need multiple operations and long-term care to recover—physically and emotionally.
Shira has no close family nearby, is not accepted by public organizations in Turkey because she is trans, and she’s unable to work while she heals. Her friends are raising funds to cover her medical bills, therapy, and basic living expenses during this painful time.
As of me posting this, the fundraiser has €125 out of a €12k goal. If you can’t give anything to help a trans woman survive a horrific attack, please at least reblog this, set it on your queue, whatever you need to do to make sure others can see and help. Thank you.

You have good opinions I feel so I want to get your gauge on something, do you think there is enough evidence early on in Undertale's no mercy route that indicates Chara was not a willing participant? Of course if you're not up for answering please feel free to ignore.
i think the evidence that Chara does not start the no mercy route is that they do not make any hint of their presence known until you have completely emptied the ruins, and also the bit where they say at the end they woke up just confused and realized through your actions a new path
i don't know if you can say they were unwilling, except in that like. obviously they did not volunteer to be abruptly sharing a body with someone who immediately checks out and a distant entity who issues commands to murder. i don't think you can argue they fight it.
in general, my thinking is that like. they wake up confused and traumatized and immediately see through the eyes of a body that's murdering monsters whether they want it or not. their response is to quickly find rationalizations to make sense of the situation. they decide (semi-subconsciously) they'd much rather be the helpful partner of the force that will bring a final sort of peace to the underground than back in the really traumatic situation of being in a body they can't control that's being hurt and doing things they don't want it to.
but overall if you're looking for evidence they didn't initiate it and it wasn't their idea, your best bets are the fact that the player initiates it and the part where they say "yeah this was your idea and I went along with it"
