Why are you using chatgpt to get through college. Why are you spending so much time and money on something just to be functionally illiterate and have zero new skills at the end of it all. Literally shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to waste thirty grand you can always just buy a sportscar.

My husband's family had a cat they named "Mama's Kitty" which turned into "Skitty" or "Skitty Kitty." She was a funny cat, she used to open drawers and shut herself inside. I went to grab a tablecloth in the dining room, I open the drawer, there she is! Sleeping inside a drawer on top of the fancy table linens.
I am filled with love every time someone brings me their cat and she’s named some variation of “Mama” or “Momma” or “MommyCat” or whatever because a lot of the time it means that that cat had kittens at one point and even though her babies were probably painfully cute and bouncy in the way all kittens inevitably are, Mama’s owner decided to keep her for themselves instead.
I just find it so sweet to think of all those kittens getting snapped up by adopters because they’re so cute but then their mom gets to have a happy ending too with a family that loves her just as much. It’s like a tiny little self-contained story of love every time I see a Mama on my schedule.

Was looking for a book today when I saw these various animal books all on the same shelf and noticed their titles made a nice little impromptu poem about veterinary medicine

Had a first today. We had a client with his two dogs come in for a regular scheduled appointment, annual exams with boosters, specifically a rattlesnake vaccine. I've had plenty of people request the rattlesnake vaccine (I work in Southern Oregon basically in wine country) or the Lyme vaccine but it's very rarely used.
Me: It looks like they're due for all their core vaccines, would you like to booster those as well today?
Client: Oh, no thank you.
Me(thinking he misheard me): So both dogs are due for their RABIES VACCINE as well as DHLP, another core vaccine for dogs, would you like to have us give those today?
Client: No thanks. We don't really believe in that stuff. Just the rattlesnake vaccine for today.
Me(flabbergasted): So you're declining the rabies, distemper, hepatitis, and leptospirosis vaccines, but you want the rattlesnake vaccine?
Client: Yes, please thank you.
🤯
Make it make sense!!! What the hell!!! It's fucking Monday morning!!!!
Please fucking vaccinate your pets! The next county over to mine has CONFIRMED RABIES found in at least four foxes?!? Just looked it up, IT'S FIVE. FIVE TESTED POSITIVE.

I love the chiweenie bc they r like the polar opposite of whatever is going on with doodles. The poor-man’s designer breed… several thousand dollars for a dog from a breeder? Nah— Find his ass on Craigslist for 50$. Working class hero.

I've worked at four different vet clinics in my career, only ONE of them saw rabbits. The number of veterinarians in my area who will see a rabbit are getting smaller each year.
With Easter fast approaching with its spiked rabbit sales and subsequent spiked rabbit abandonment rates, I thought I’d use my powers for good by spreading some information I think everyone should know before they get their first bunny. I usually don’t want people reposting my art, but feel free to spread this one around! Reblogs are very, very appreciated. If you want more information about pet rabbits, you can for example check out rabbit.org. And remember: Adopt, don’t shop!

OH YEAH I forgot until just now but the family that owned him were heavy smokers and smoked indoors. Really healthy environment for a brachycephallic dog.
4 month old Boston terrier came in yesterday with labored breathing. X-rays showed pneumonia in the lungs and a very narrow airway. Today he came in to be put on oxygen, because the owner refused to go to the emergency room to do that last night.
We spent two hours trying to save this puppy but he died in my arms. I'm pissed off because we should have euthanized him. He died in agony at a very young age. The owner let us know later this afternoon that she's getting ANOTHER puppy from the same litter. THE SAME FUCKING LITTER.
I feel like I just got whiplash...

This is going to sound like common sense to a lot of people but I’m still going to say it because I meet plenty of folks that don’t know- there is a wrong way to pick up your dog. People who don’t have much experience around dogs tend to want to pick them up under the arms like you would a baby, like this

But we humans are primates, with well developed and flexible shoulders built for swinging through trees. Our arms have remarkable range of motion. Dogs are not built the same way, and lifting them this way under the forelimbs (by the “armpits”) is really uncomfortable for them. But you see it all the time! Just looking up “person holding dog” will bring up tons of photos of people using the inappropriate hold

I had a dog owner bring her newly adopted dog in for yelping whenever he was picked up, and when she showed me that was how she was lifting him, it was clear it was just hurting his shoulders by being picked up this way.
When picking up a dog from the ground, it is much better to support them under the chest and lift them from underneath. A proper hold will distribute the dog’s weight, instead of putting pressure on the shoulders.

Trump may be about to sign the death sentence of the National Institute of Health, and, by extension, the Office of Lab Animal Welfare.
He gutted research animal protections.
Any vertebrate that isn't a mammal will have no rights.
Neither will mice or rats.
If NIH grants are stopped, researchers can't pay anyone. They can't perform research. They can't pay for veterinary services.
They won't be required to provide veterinary services.
The only medical research that will happen will be self funded by big pharma, and they can torture the animals and skew all the lab results that they want.
Just like Musk did to the primates in his neuralink research.
I don't know what's going to happen to me or anyone else at the university where I work. My job is to make sure the animals are treated humanely and to provide veterinary care. I'm especially scared about what's going to happen to those research animals if veterinary staff gets laid off. The USDA only covers mammals, and it doesn't even cover all of them. Every rat I've ever made a tiny paper gift box full of marshmallows for, every mouse I've ever watched grow up, every rodent I've ever separated from an aggressive dominant brother and then treated their tiny wounds, they have no protections if NIH goes down. Decades of research into humane handling, euthanasia, and animal behavior will be tossed aside and wasted.
Please, do everything you can. Protest. Contact your representatives. Anything you can do. Do it for science, for medicine, for people's lives, for people's jobs, and for the animals.
