Hi, uhh, how did you find out you were ace? Kinda questioning if I am or not and I'm trying to figure stuff out

There wasn’t really a “oh shit” moment like a lot of people have when they read it.

I knew I was different but I just figured I’d grow out of it… And then I didn’t… And I was reading about different sexualities and found asexual and was like maybe???

Thought about it for a while, took longer for me to say it out loud and tell my friends.

Even now there’s still moments of “am I though?”

I don’t think asexuality (or aromantic, since it’s a similar concept although I have no experience so correct me if I’m wrong) is like being “gay, lesbian, etc.” There’s never going to be an oh shit moment in terms of “I have a crush on that boy!”

In my head it’s just a lack of moments. I’ve never had a “oh shit I want to have sex with that person.” Never a “I just met this person and I want to kiss them.”

I guess it’s kind of a waiting game in the end? But that’s okay. We have time. We don’t need to seek out the labels that define us. Usually they arrive exactly when they’re supposed to.

The most baffling Asexual Moment™ I’ve experienced is learning that overly-sexual commercials (like when they advertise a soda next to a girl in a bikini) actually DO turn people on and aren’t just a pointless, weird trope

Learn the difference

Between saying:

“I believe people should be able to feel loved and valued regardless of their size.”

Or even:

“I know my personal health choices/weight are unhealthy, but it’s my life and I will choose whether or not I want to the active or eat right. I am who I am and people can take me or leave me.

And saying:

“Being 450 pounds is perfectly healthy! There’s nothing wrong with it and if you say it’s the reason I have diabetes and hypertension it’s just because you are a bigot who’s been brainwashed by our culture’s unrealistic beauty standards! Don’t let anybody tell you you should lose weight! Not even your doctor! Everybody else is just anorexic!”

While you’re at it, learn the difference between saying:

“Obesity leads to heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other complications which are leading causes of death in the United States.”

And saying:

“Fat people are a disgusting cancer that should die and I think all people over under 150 pounds should be forced to go to fat camps become societal outcasts worthy of nothing but complete contempt.”
