How to install r2modman (3.1.34) for Valheim on Fedora Linux 37
After many hours of effort, this is what worked for me (2022-12-03):
(If you have already tried installing r2modman without success: uninstall what you have, and delete the r2modman folders from .config and .cache because uninstalling does not remove these folders!)
First, Install Bepinex MANUALLY using the instructions in its readme: go to https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/denikson/BepInExPack_Valheim/ select "manual download", open the archive file and follow the instructions in the Readme for manual install on linux. This will involve copying some files to the Valheim directory in steamapps and changing the launch params in steam.
Only then: go to the github releases for r2modman. You can do this by going to the mainpage for the r2modman github and look for the tiny little link on the right-hand called "releases". It's easy to miss it! Or you can just go straight to https://github.com/ebkr/r2modmanPlus/releases
Download the rpm for the latest release (3.1.14). It should now work when you install it.
When it opens, select Valheim as your game and you should be good from there!
When I first tried to installed r2modman on a new machine today, I neglected to install Bepinex first. I was able to install r2modman but it would then freeze up and fail to connect to the thunderstore.
When you go to the bepinex webpage on thunderstore it has a prominent "install with mod manager" button which gives one the impression you should install a mod manager first, then use that to install bepinex. This is super confusing and made it harder for me figure out the missing dependency.
Hope this helps! Happy valheiming!
