The Future of Ray Tracing.
About Ray Tracing

Hey folks lets talk about Graphics and the big news around Ray tracing computer graphics have come in an incredible way since the days of the first video game. Games started off as grids of white squares on a gray background and they've advanced through 2d scenes with 8 and then 16 bit color to polygons complex textures and full 3d. Today games use tools like tessellation shaders occlusion and mapping to achieve nearly photorealistic results and we may be getting closer to that holy grail of lifelike graphics Ray tracing. Let's back up a bit since those early 3d days some of the biggest improvements in graphics have had to do with the way scenes render shadows and reflections, in 2004 doom 3 introduced some of the first high-quality dynamic shadows in gaming this meant the shadows moved with the lights and the characters in the game and the results were fantastic, eerie lighting cast long shadows on catwalks and when enemies ran through hallways lit by swinging lights they cast chaotic shadows that moved with them as they ran it all worked together to thoroughly freak out gamers of the day. Those great shadow and lighting techniques have come a long way since doom 3 but they are still today fundamentally based on the same idea called rasterization. In rasterization a scene is drawn pixel by pixel with the game engine checking things like distance texture proximity light sources and occlusion whether or not anything is in the way before they pick a color for that pixel you move pixel by pixel through a scene and calculate the color for each one based off this physics and geometry of the scene around you eventually you build an image in rasterization lighting is particularly challenging. Light sources kind of project a field where things inside that field get lighter on one side the side facing the light and cast a shadow on the other side but in the real world light doesn't just move in a straight line like that it bounces and diffuses and passes through objects all depending on what they're made of and that's a lot to account for. In rasterization for each light source the computer works out if something is blocking the path of that light and if it is the computer runs through a series of calculations to work out what to do next and the simplest it'll just cast a shadow more complex processes like ambient occlusion try to adjust for the objects in the scene tweaking the lighting to account for the way objects reflect light and cast some shadows on each other but still these methods are relatively crude the simplest forms of ambient occlusion called screen space ambient occlusion or SSAO only account for the depth of an object in the scene, it essentially tries to put more shadows on objects behind other objects but it doesn't actually account for where the lights in the scene are even advanced ambient occlusion at best creates diffuse shadows that still don't actually relate to where light is coming from and all of these methods struggle with direct light harsh shadows mixed lighting basically the wave reflections shadows and highlights all work in the real world. All of this is an attempt to get to what people call global illumination which is the idea that a graphic scene could be rendered just like the real world and here's where ray tracing comes in in the real world light sources emit photons that travel in a straight line until they hit a surface and there they can either pass through the surface be reflected or absorbed these photons bounce around and eventually some of them make it into your eyes and that's how you see. Ray tracing tries to work the exact same way but backwards it draws millions of rays outwards from the camera your perspective in a video game and then it calculates how they'll bounce around the scene whenever array bounces off an object another ray called a shadow ray is drawn towards the light sources in the scene if there's a clear path that first ray makes the object it bounced off writer and if it's blocked it casts a shadow instead the big upside to ray tracing is hyper realistic reflections shadows and highlights that don't need to be pre-rendered all of this lighting detail can be generated based off the geometry in the scene and as characters and lights move around the light changes in dynamic and realistic ways. Ray tracing is particularly good at reflections and refraction things like light moving through a glass of water and color spill or the way that a brightly colored object can change the color of other objects near it. Now ray tracing is potentially actually a simpler system than layering lighting models with shadows and shaders and occlusion but calculating the paths of millions of rays can take an incredible amount of processing power to fully rate raise a standard 1920 x 1080 HD scene you need to draw a minimum of 4 million rays to start getting good results and potentially 50 million or more the backwards system of drawing the Rays out from the camera instead of out from light sources is actually a way to try to cut down on processing by only rendering the Rays that will actually be seen by the player even with this backwards ray trick processing ray-traced images has traditionally been incredibly slow and no games currently used real-time ray tracing
Ray Tracing in Movies

The technology has been entirely limited to pre-rendered video and Hollywood movies animated Studios like Pixar extensively used ray tracing in their films and part of what makes modern special-effects blend so well with real-world footage is the use of ray tracing to create accurate lighting for every part of the scene now these Studios have the luxury of using render farms with dozens of computers working together and even here each frame can take hours to draw instead of the fraction of a second we need for a playable game “a single frame can take more than 24 hours to render”.
Ray Tracing for gaming

The new technology might be changing this, Microsoft has unveiled a new set of tools in DirectX 12 which supports ray tracing. DirectX is the set of graphics tools that power most windows games at a fundamental level and their newly announced DXR API supports ray tracing in games Nvidia also announced their own set of tools called RTX that would leverage their own hardware to speed up real time ray tracing in games, DXR should work on older Nvidia cards as software but RTX actually depends on hardware acceleration that's currently only found on Nvidia's volta line of graphics cards specifically RTX is supposed to add hardware acceleration for ray tracing area shadows reflections and ambient occlusion now this should all work together to create a more lifelike scene not one to be left out AMD announced updates to their radeon ray tracing system including support for real-time ray tracing in games and promised low-level driver support for Microsoft's DXR in the near future unity the game engine of choice for many indie developers is also incorporating AMD's Ray tracing tech into their game design tools though only for what's called baked or non moving lights so are we at the verge of a ray tracing revolution well not quite yet and here's where things actually get a little fishy. NVIDIA is saying it's volta cards will support ray tracing at a hardware level the way current graphic cards have specialized circuits and hardware for shaders or decoding video however on current Volta cards it's unclear what those special Hardware features actually are now part of the problem is that there are almost no volta graphics cards out there most volta cards are actually specialized boards used for supercomputers and AI research and the only one even approaching a consumer product is the $3,000 Titan VIII the recently announced GV 100 Quadro is a professional card that built on Volta and it looks to be extraordinarily powerful but it still isn't really a gaming card, rumors have also suggested Nvidia may entirely skip consumer cards in the volta line and while NVIDIA has said future graphics cards for gamers will incorporate the same hardware acceleration for ray tracing we don't actually know what those future graphics cards will be and as amazing as these demos look there's still more reason to be skeptical Epic's ray tracing demo at GDC was running in real time but it was running on an NVIDIA GTX station a computer that starts at around $50,000 and packs a 20 core processor in with four tesla v 100 cards each of which runs around $9,000 now confusingly tesla was also in the name of a previous Nvidia architecture but the tesla v 100 actually uses a voltage chip as great as these demos look many of them still actually had to use traditional rasterization on parts of the scene to keep the frame rates up as well this also isn't the first time we've heard announcements about real time ray racing Nvidia actually announced real time ray tracing on their Kepler chips at GDC 2012 six years ago so where does all this leave us ? But ray tracing is legit tech that really could make graphics look amazing but the demos we've seen this last year aren't even entirely ray-traced and they were running on hardware that is a long ways from what the average gamer might own Plus this isn't the first time companies have claimed ray tracing was just around the corner Intel made these claims in 2010 and so did Nvidia in 2012 there's another part of this to that as a PC gamer I hate to even talk about it but it's the consoles if running these raytrace demos on a normal gaming PC seems like a fantasy you try getting them to run on a ps4 integrating ray-tracing into a game isn't like flipping a switch it'll take serious work on the part of developers to bring ray-traced graphics into a game I'm sure in the next few years some rave developer come out with an insane ray-traced project for the PC master-race but until the consoles can come close to handling this sort of graphics rendering great racing for all may still be a long ways off.

Intel Vs AMD

Intel has been the biggest name in processor production for many years, but recently they started to lose the race to their rival AMD. Let’s go over the history of battle between Intel and Amd for PC market. For Many years AMD cpus were considered inferior compared to Intel so they started investing their resources trying to catch up while building their own tech into their cpu and in 2003 AMD released their heavy hitter Athlon 64-bit cpu, which was for the first time were superior to what Intel had to offer, with AMD putting major focus on gaming. Intel rushed to catch up with 64-bit Cpus and by 2006 they released their Core 2 duo processors that destroyed the mainstream CPUs that AMD was offering. And shortly after AMD started producing their Athlon X2 dual core processors and then they both ventured into quad core and beyond. And while this was happening, PC gaming was starting to get really popular and a lot of gamers had to decide between mainstream Intel processors or a more budget friendly AMD cpu. “When I had my first actual gaming pc built I went with Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition and it worked as I expected it to.'' AMD was focused on putting out more cores, while Intel decided to stick with quad core processors for many years.
AMD’s RYZEN.

With AMD being the runner up to Intel, they never stopped pushing for newer tech that could finally disrupt Intel’s market share streak and by 2017 it happened. AMD released their first line of Ryzen 7 processors, offering very impressive performance for much less cash than Intel’s competing chips. While this was happening, Intel was already in trouble, having a hard time moving their 10nm processors. In 2013, Intel claimed it could produce 10nm chips by 2015 and it went on for 2016,2017 and then in late 2019 we are finally seeing some mainstream 10nm chips.
Intel’s Coffee Lake

So in order to respond AMD’s Ryzen Intel launched their 8th gen Coffee lake processors. They brought hyper threading to their processors and continued to squeeze out every bit of performance they could out of their 14nm processor while beginning to finally lower their prices to be able to compete with AMD.
Current stats
Well even that wasn’t enough since AMDs Ryzen7 3800x left behind Intel’s new i9 9900k. The performance difference isn't that wide but it does take over the crown in the matter of pricing over what Intel had to offer with it’s i9 9900k. Currently Intel is struggling with it’s product while AMD has started to rise up in the market. “For now AMD might have gained some power over Intel, but hey Intel can’t be underestimated since Intel has got a lot of money at its disposal which Intel will use to get back in the market.”

Top 10 Games with rich stories
A game with a rich story line can bring some good memorable experience. Now I’ll be sharing my top 10 best story driven games that I liked so far.
1. The Witcher 3 wild hunt

Witcher 3 is one of the most story driven games out there offering 70 hours long gameplay and a wild open world role playing experience. Even if you complete 100 hours with the game there are still many things to do, learn and hunt in the wild environment. When the game was released it received over 250 “Game Of The Year” titles, the most awarded game at the time and by August 2016, it had received over 800 awards.
2. Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar as we know is the king of open world games, with titles like Grand Theft Auto, Bully, L.A Noire, Max Payne we know their ability to provide and rich open world experience with an excellent story line. After making its name for Grand Theft Auto series the developers have turned their sights on the Wild West. Red Dead Redemption is one of the best open world wild west games out there. You play as John Marston who’s an out try to walk on clean path but his past won't let him. Red Dead Redemption is not a GTA in Wild West, your actions are grounded which allows you to experience the western setting. Along with the storyline there plenty other things that you can do like from simple Cowboy activities to tracking down buried treasures, it's all in the package.
3. Red Dead Redemption 2

As I mentioned in my number 2 best story rich game, Rockstar has a prequel to Red Dead Redemption where the story is focused on John Marston’s past life as an outlaw and the gang he used to run with. In Red Dead Redemption 2 you play as Arthur Morgan, senior member and lead enforcer of the Van der Linde gang, one of America’s most notorious outlaw gangs. You’ll enjoy playing as Arthur as he nice guy but at the same time a monster. As the story passes by you will see him evolve in a good person or a bad person. The gameplay is based on the choices you make during the story line. You can either play as a good guy or you can go full outlaw in the game and both choices will have different outcomes at the end of the story. Along with the storyline there many side quests and activities that you can indulge in.
4. Grand Theft Auto IV

This Grand Theft Auto is my favorite one, I’ve played GTA V but the story didn’t felt that great as compared to GTA IV. In GTA IV you play as Niko Bellic who is from Yugoslavia. He worked as a soldier in the Yugoslav Wars and as a young man he worked as a smuggler across the Adriatic Sea. In 2008 he moves to Liberty City to get rich with his cousin. As the story goes on you’ll see how Niko gets involved in criminal activities leading to a tragic end of the story.
5. Call Of Duty Modern warfare 3

Well to understand the story of Modern Warfare 3 you’ll first have to play Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. In Modern Warfare 3 you will experience the devastating effects of war and along the story line you will switch between many Task Forces. The story has revolved around 2 main characters, Capt. John Price and Soap Mactavish. The game is packed with action and huge twist in the story line.
6. Uncharted 4 : A Thief's End

Uncharted as whole series offers a good amount of adventure and thrill as you play as Nathan Drake. In Uncharted 4 Nathan Drake along with his brother Samuel Drake set out on an adventure to find a 400 million dollars treasure. Nathan does all efforts to get his hands on the treasure just to find out that the treasure is cursed.
7. Mafia III

In Mafia III the story revolves around Lincoln Clay and Vito Scaletta from Mafia II. The story begins as Lincoln returns from Vietnam War and catches up with with his family. As the story progresses Lincoln faces betrayal from Marcano, after the event Lincoln finds himself in bed with a bullet wound on his skull. Once he remembers what happened with him and his family, he sets out to seek redemption.
8. The Last of Us

The Last of Us is set in a post apocalyptic environment. The game tells the story of two survivors Joel and Ellie as they work together to survive across what remains of the country to find a possible cure for the plague that has nearly erased the entire human race.
9. The Walking Dead : Season One

This is one of the best apocalyptic stories among the zombie survival genre The series is focused on the character of Clementine, a young girl found alone by Lee Everett at the start of the apocalypse. Lee helps Clementine to learn how to survive in a chaotic world, but ends up getting bit by a zombie while trying to reunite Clementine with her parents. Clementine continues to travel with other survivor groups.
10. Metro Exodus

Metro is another best post apocalyptic game in open world survival genre. Metro Exodus is set after the events of Metro Last Light, on a post apocalyptic environment that has been devastated by a nuclear war. The game continues the story line of Metro: Last Light's Redemption ending. Even in Metro Exodus you play as Artyom, who flees the Moscow Metro and sets off on a continent spanning journey with his allies to the far east, on a locomotive called the "Aurora". The story takes place over the course of one year, starting with a harsh nuclear winter in the Metro. Another character returning from the previous game is Anna who is now Artyom's wife.

THE SHOWDOWN
Conor McGregor vs Cowboy Cerrone
After a main event between Conor McGregor VS Kabib Nurmagomedov, Conor decided to take retirement from UFC on 26 March 2019 since after the main event things did’t turn out in Conor’s favour. Now a almost a year later THE NOTORIOUS Conor Mcgregor is going to return on 18th on JAN to fight against Cowboy Cerrone. The talk of a McGregor vs Cerrone first surfaced when Cerrone called out McGregor after beating Alexander Hernandez in January at UFC Fight. After the win over Hernandez, Cerrone said The old man has still got it. This is the fight that the UFC wanted. I wanted a Top Five opponent. I want Conor if he'll agree to it. I'm coming for a belt. Cowboy is back."
McGregor tweeted Cerrone “For a fight like that Donald, I'll fight you. Congratulations." and it was on.
Fight Prediction.

Both fighters are equipped with good amount of MMA skill. But lets be honest here we know Cerrone with his loses in ring and his age has slowed down while on the other hand Conor is just 30 years old and everyone has witnessed his ability to make moves quickly. I mean the fight against Jose Aldo, it was a 13 sec KO. I mean it’s still hard to say I guess we’ll find out on 19 Jan.

Man Vs Machine
Development of AI so far.

Investment and interest in AI is expected to boom in the long run since major AI use cases like autonomous driving, AI powered medical diagnosis, etc that will unlock significant value to human life. These cases are use to improve 3 building blocks of AI i.e availability of more data, better algorithms and computing. The recent developments in AI has enabled its deep learning. AI is already powering search engines, online translators, virtual assistants and number of marketing and sales decisions.
Developments in computing power

Deep learning highly depends on computing power to understand more complex problems. With current technology, learning may take too long time. Therefore, there is a need for development in computing power. With new computing technologies, companies can have AI models that can learn quickly and solve more complex problems.
AI enabled chips

It is difficult for most advanced CPU to improve the efficiency of an AI model by itself. To use AI in cases like computer vision, natural language processing, or speech recognition, companies need high performance CPUs. AI enabled chips are introduced to deal with this challenge. These chips make CPUs optimized for their tasks. All upcoming AI technologies will require these chips to keep up with tasks and perform them faster. Facebook, Amazon, and Google are highly increasing their investments in AI enabled chips.
Advances in GPUs

GPUs are one of the most widely used cards. Rendering an image requires simple computing power but needs to be done on a large scale and at a very quick pace. GPUs are the best option because they can process thousands of simple tasks simultaneously. Most modern GPUs in the market have become efficient to be used for tasks beyond image rendering, such as data mining or machine learning.
Quantum computing

Your traditional computer systems work with binary language 0 and 1. However, quantum computing takes this to another level and works with quantum mechanics. This enables quantum systems to work with qubits instead of bits. While bits consist of 0 and 1, qubits consist of 0, 1 and an additional state, which includes both at the same time. This additional state enables quantum computing to be open to new possibilities and provide faster computation for certain tasks.IBM says that it will be possible to build a quantum computer with 50 to 100 qubits in the next 10 years. A 50 qubit quantum computer works faster than today’s best 500 supercomputers.
Future technologies to be enabled by AI

The improvement of AI will make our systems even more efficient. Our vehicles will drive themselves, homes will adjust their electricity usage, and robots will be incorporated in the medical industry. In other words, AI will cover more in our lives and will automate our daily tasks. Here are a few sectors where AI technologies will be used.
AI assistants
AI based medical diagnosis
Autonomous payments
Autonomous vehicles
Bionic organs
Conversational agents
Smart cities
Impact of AI on Future

The development of AI do looks promising for the future and is going to benefit us in many sectors of life, but we do need to understand that it will be better at its work, better than most talented or skilled individuals. This is going to affect jobs in the near future because most of the difficult tasks will be taken over by the AI..
