Fem!reader x Yan!Scaramouche
In which the reader is in a forced marriage with Scaramouche, desperately thing to find a way to escape him.
English is not my first language, ist actually the first time I have shared my work in the internet. I'm sorry if I make some mistakes, feel free to correct me.<3
Enjoy!
I sat in the garden of the large mansion, I could even call it "home", though this word doesn't describe my feelings towards this whole place even a little. I've lived here for years, or at least I think it's been years. I haven't seen a calendar in a long while. Though the air is freezing, I can't help but sin in the thick snow, white petals falling on my head gently. I shouldn't sit here in this weather, definitely not while wearing not so good clothes for a Snezhnayan winter - I'm pretty sure winter is a synonym is a word used for sligthly colder days, since this region has always been covered with snow. Even when I can feel my body freezing, I just can't help but sit here, look at the white sky and touch the cold snow - it can never be compared to the coldness of ones heart. This garden is my only way of feeling "free", of not feeling locked in this goddamn house, in this goddamn nation. When I first visited Snezhnaya, I thought it was a beautiful region, full of mesmerizing nature, interestin culture and people, the freezing temperatures was refreshing after months of travelling.
Well, that was before I met him - The sixth of the Fatui Harbingers, a tyrant, a manipulator and my husband. At first, he was sweet, kind even. He seemed so perfect, a wish come true... And soon enough, I learned how mistaken I was. It started with him almost begging me to stop travelling and live with him, I foolishly agreed. Then he began throwing away any letter that I got from my family, I didn't notice until I saw some pieces of it burned in his office. Then he started distancing me from everyone, even from most of the servants as he fired them and left with only one, a maid he quite trusted, at least trusted her enough to let her take care of me when he's gone on a mission.
- Lady [Y/N]... Lord Scaramouche will soon come back from his journey, I advice you get ready for his return. - Said a woman in her late 30s. The only one I can talk to beside Scaramouche. She had kept me sane for a long time, I'm actually very grateful for her.
- I need you to do something for me. - I said firmly while standing up from the cold ground, snow still slightly splattered on my long dress. I then quickly moved towards the inside of the mansion, more precisely - Scaramouche's office.
- Miss.. I'm not sure if rummaging in Lord's Scaramouche is a good idea.. - She said nervously.
- It's not like he can get mad at me because of that, he should be happy that I still look him in the eyes. - I spat out. - I'm going to send a letter, and I need your help.
- I don't think it's possible. - She said calmly, but I still hear that slight shiver in her voice.
- It is, we'll just have to do it in a.. quite weird way. All you have to do is show me where exactly is the mansion on the map. I must say, Scaramouche did quite a good job in picking a place to lock his little wife in, I can't even see what's behind the gates of my own house. - I snarled out. - Trust me, he won't know and even if he will, I'll make sure you're not the one to get punished. - I explained, to which the woman sighed quietly. She then walked up to the massive map of Snezhnaya hanged on the wall, her finger pointing on a mountain region.
- We're here, hidden in the mountains.
- Why thank you. - I smiled excitedly, I opened up the window, hidden in my bra, was an anemo vision. Though it may sound weird, it's one of the places that Scaramouche wouldn't think of looking into, well at least not while looking for something.
- Is that... An Anemo vision? How long did you have it miss? - The maid asked.
- A few weeks ago, right after Scaramouche left for his mission in Inazuma. Ever since I got, I thought of flying.. Flying away from here.. But even I know it's impossible for me, I couldn't possibly learn it in a couple of weeks.
- So what is your plan?
- You know, sitting outside was not only a way to relax, but also to learn some things. Elemental energy is almost multiplied here, if you know what I mean, I'm pretty sure because of him.. Well that's not the point now. I learned to focus my elemental energy, so it can last a long time without me being near it. - From one of the books on the shelf, I took out a piece of paper, a message to anyone out there. Anyone who can free me.
- Are you sure it's going to work..?
- Oh honey.. Nothing's going to work well for me in this place, there's nothing but misery set for me in here. It's either try to escape, and get punished for it from Scaramouche, or do nothing and get punished for it from fate. I'm not letting a man decide my fate for me. - I said the last part through gritted teeth.
After breathing heavily for a second, I focus on the piece of paper. After some time, a pair of anemo wings showed up on both ends of paper. With a gentle blow, it was sent flying away, hopefully far away. Oh how I hope that the Anemo Archon blesses this paper with his merciful touch, so it can find the right person... Before I can move away from the window, the servant pulls me back, and quickly closes it.
- We don't have much time miss, please get ready for Lord's Scaramouche arrival. - She said with a pleading tone and left in a hurry. She's right.. I have to get ready. Both physically and mentally. I went to my bedroom, which I sadly shared with my so caring husband. I must say, sleeping alone for a few weeks was like heaven on earth. I need to pick an outfit for tonight.. A grumpy Scaramouche is the last thing I want to go through.. I catch a glimpse of a mildly purple piece of clothing, a kimono-looking dress to be precised. I remember Scaramouche giving me it after his visit in Liyue. He said it reminded him of Inazuma, though he'd never buy me a real kimono before our marriage. Weirdo. I put on the dress I picked out. I couldn't help but smile a little. Maybe in a few weeks, or maybe in a few months I would be free.. Perhaps I'll travel again. No.. That would be too dangerous. Should I change my name and appearance and start a new life, on a ship full of pirates? That would've been nice.
- Seeing you with a genuine smile will be the death of me. Is it that the dinner is poisoned? Or is it the wine? - A cold voice was heard behind me, a shiver went down my spine. When did he even get here? Something have changed.. I can feel it.. Is he stronger? No.. I don't think it's possible. Vision... Where's my vision?! I think I left it in the bathroom... Shit...
- I guess we'll know later on, won't we? - I stayed calm, I can't let him know I'm hiding something.
- You're too smart to try getting rid of me by using a poison. - I'm pretty sure he smirked, I didn't dare to look at him yet. His pale fingers played with a strand of my hair. I couldn't help, but glance at the bathroom door, he seemed to notice that.
- Hm.. Focusing on something other than me? You know it doesn't end well for you. Are you trying to ignore me? - He turned me around, so I was now facing him, his indigo eyes staring straight into mine. - Or is it because you're hiding something? - He said coldly, I swear I saw his eyes lit up for a second. I still looked him death in the eye, I didn't said anything, just stared. He didn't seemed to get affected by it, as he headed towards the bathroom. I didn't let him get there. With all of my strenght, I pulled him closer to me, and then pushed him on the bed so now he was sitting right in front of me, also getting slightly towered by me.
- Is that how you greet your wife after weeks of being away? After weeks of leaving her in this big mansion alone, with just a servant? - I glared at him. He looked quite suprised at my sudden action, I'm pretty sure he began enjoying it.
- Oh? Is it that those few weeks of loneliness made you desperate? I must say, I'm quite astonished. - Before I could react, he grabbed my arm and pulled me by it, which madr me fall onto him. He immediately turned us around, so he was now the one towering me, and not the other way around. His hands pinned my wrists on both side of my head.
- If I didn't knew any better, I would've thought you're all dressed up for me. - His face got close to mine. I'm pretty sure I felt a wave of electricity run through my body.
- You always have to find something to be mad about, don't you? - I said sharply.
- You really keep testing my patience, darling. - He said with a sick smile splattering on his face.
- So do you, now get off me. - I spat out while glaring at him.
- That's my girl, You thought I wouldn't see through your facade? I know you to well, love. - His eyes lit up a little.
- What exactly happened in Inazuma? - I asked.
- Oh nothing really.. Just some fights.. A traveller.. Oh how could I forget! - He quickly stood up, I also got up, but stayed on the bed. He kept looking for something in his pockets, after a second, he finally found what he was looking for. It was a.. piece of paper crumpled into a ball? What is it that he wants to show me?
- As I was heading here, a little piece of paper hit my hat. At first, I thought it's just trash. Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to read it. Oh how I'm glad I read through it. - He said, as he threw the paper at me. It's.. My letter... I stared at it, tears getting into my eyes.
- Oh? What is it? Is it that this letter brought these emotions put of you? I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. - Before I could look at him, he grabbed my jaw harshly, a little wave of electricity coming from it, making me hiss from pain.
- What are you going to do? - I asked quietly.
- I'm not sure.. perhaps I should just lock you up in a room without any windows, with just a bed and a little bathroom near. Or perhaps I should just take you with me? We would give your family a little visit. I'm not sure if they could answer though, it's not quite possible for a pile of ashes. Oh well. I'm positive that wherever they are, they'd be happy you and your husband decided to visit them. - I felt myself tearing up right there.
- Oh don't you dare crying now. It's all your fault. If only you decided to be a submissive little wife, then maybe, just maybe, your family would still be alive. You're a fool. - I couldn't help but sob, I couldn't care anymore. Scaramouche let go of my jaw, he then moved away from me.
- Cry all you want, I'll make sure you won't have the voice to do so tommorow.
