Klas Fahlen is a great illustrator from Sweden and his works are seen all around the globe.

Such a cool projects highlighting the beauty of manholes that we overlook everyday. We walk past them everyday but we never acknowledge their beauty. Amazing.

A very bizarre illustrator Andrey Kasay.. Illustrates weird, rude things in a fun way.

I really like this animation dedicated to the International Women’s day, illustrating the forever lasting cycle of life and the routine of women. I really like the style of this illustration and the way so much is said without any words.

The Jullien Brothers has released an animation to mark International Women’s Day. The short shows the story of a woman’s life through the puberty milestone of shaving her armpits to meeting her partner, having a family, relationship breakdown and death. There are a few constants, like her red hair and the red hair of her daughter, whose life seems to mirror that of her mother. It’s a sad story, thanks to the music – The Coward’s, Adieu – for which the animation provides the music video.

Oliver Jeffers is a multidisciplinary artist who specialises in illustrating childrens books but he also writes, paints, handles type and also helped U2 with their music video, which is brilliant. Very talented man.

Alongside and in conversation with No Vacancy, VanDeman has also been shooting another items-left-behind project called Died Alone. That story is about the abandoned homes of elderly people who’ve died alone in the Midwest. She says it’s fairly common to find houses where the owner had no family to recover the objects, or the family was too far away and never bothered to come back.

Died Alone is personal because VanDeman was her grandmother’s primary caretaker and had to sort through her belongings when she died in 2006. Sorting and photographing dead people’s possessions might seem like a difficult project, but VanDeman says it’s about storytelling.

“I know it sounds dark,” she says. “But I just think these personal objects have a lot to tell us.”

A really nice project by Paula Zucotti, where she asked people to collect all the things they touch in a day. It really shows how we are identified through objects and how objects create such a big part of our life and identity.
