A fun aquarium scene for BluecanLee on twitter- a challenge to get out of my usual color-comfort zone, but a great excuse to break out the fluorescent pink. Gouache, colored pencil, and acrylic on watercolor paper.

It's time... I have WAY too many pieces stored that just aren't receiving the love they deserve, so I'm listing a bunch of art for sale throughout today in chunks. Prices will range from $35-130, all are on bristol or watercolor paper. These three pieces are from 2020, and while I still have an enormous fondness for them, it’s time for them to find a new home.

Badge of Index Fossils - all hand cut copper. A stylized brachiopod sits above hexagonaria, both common index fossils that allow us to understand geologic time and the constant shifting of continents and biomes. It's meditative, in a sense, to see the remnants of long-extinct creatures that were once some of the most common organisms on the planet. Life continues on; to a degree it is humbling and meditative to realize that our time on earth was prefaced by countless other forms of life and after us, there will be many, many more.
Realized I haven't been posting any of my school work here at all?? Time to catch up.
#copper#sculpture#jewelry#badge#doesn't really fall well into any of those categories outside of the assignment#brachiopod#hexagonaria#coral#fossil#art

Jackrabbits, gouache and colored pencil on Bristol. 11x7in.
Digital art has been my beloved for so long - Photoshop CS6 had been both my deeply hated nemesis and beloved companion for nearly a decade, but this past year has seen an update in my technology (negating my license, boo) and negative advances in services of Adobe and, my more current system, CSP. This year I'm choosing to take a step away from digital art and focus my efforts on traditional art instead. So here's to seeing more gouache, pastel, and acrylic work in 2023!
