At the Dining Hall, Bowser’s castle

The Koopa family is gathered around the long dining table. Bowser sits at the head, Cherry by his side. The Koopalings, Bowser Jr and Cléo. are seated along the table, finishing their meal. The room is lively, but the atmosphere is tense as an argument is brewing among the teens.

Ludwig: (slamming his fork down) "I’m telling you, we need to be more organized in our training. Half of you can’t even follow simple instructions!"

Roy: (leaning back smugly) "Oh, here we go again. Big brother Ludwig thinks he’s the boss of everyone."

Wendy: (rolling her eyes) "He acts like the boss because he’s boring. Training is fine the way it is."

Bowser Jr.: (snapping) "Maybe it would be better if you actually showed up, Wendy. All you do is sit around painting your nails."

Wendy: (glaring) "Excuse me? At least I don’t spend all my time trying to impress Dad like you do, Jr."

Bowser Jr.: (standing up, shouting) "I’m not trying to impress him! I’m just better at it than you!"

Iggy: (grinning mischievously) "Well, this got interesting fast. I give it five minutes before someone throws food."

Lemmy: (juggling a roll) "Make it three."

Larry: (muttering, barely looking up from his plate) "Two, tops."

Morton Jr.: (happily chewing on a giant piece of meat) "Mmm… good food… love dinner…"

Cléo, seated between Lemmy and Bowser Jr., frowns and crosses her arms.

Cléo: "Oh come on! Why do you always have to fight about everything?"

Bowser Jr.: (turning to Cléo, annoyed) "Stay out of it, Cléo. You don’t know what you’re talking about."

Cléo: (angrily) "Yes, I do! You’re just being mean because you’re mad that Ludwig said you’re not the best in training!"

Bowser Jr.: (flushing with anger) "That’s not true! You don’t even know how hard it is to be me, Cléo! You just run around acting like everything’s a game!"

Roy: (laughing) "Ooooh, Jr.’s cracking under pressure."

Ludwig: (rubbing his temples) "Can we not make this worse, Roy?"

Larry: (sighing, pushing his plate away) "Do we really have to do this during dinner?"

Morton Jr.: (still eating) "Mmm… drama… but good food…"

Bowser: (growling, slamming his fist on the table) "Enough! What is wrong with all of you?!"

The room falls silent as Bowser’s voice echoes. The teens look down, but Cléo and Jr. exchange glares.

Bowser: (pointing at them) "You’re family. Act like it. Jr., Cleo, whatever’s going on, fix it now."

Cherry: (calmly, placing a hand on Bowser’s arm) "Let them talk, Bowser. Sometimes siblings just need to work things out.."

Cleo: (quietly, looking down) "I just… I don’t understand why everyone has to argue all the time. We’re supposed to be a team."

Bowser Jr.: (muttering) "It’s not that simple, Cleo. You wouldn’t get it."

Cleo: (hurt) "Why wouldn’t I get it? I train just like you do! I want to help Dad just like you do!"

Bowser Jr.: (snapping) "Because you’re just a kid! And you don’t know what it’s like to have everyone expecting you to be the best all the time!"

The room goes quiet again. Cleo’s eyes fill with tears, but she doesn’t cry. She stands up, pushing her chair back.

Cleo: (softly) "I thought we were all supposed to help each other… but you’re just mean."

Cleo runs out of the room, leaving the rest of the family awkwardly sitting in silence. Cherry stands up to follow her, but Bowser holds up a hand.

Bowser: (to Jr.) "Go. Fix it. Now."

Bowser Jr.: (grumbling) "Why me?"

Bowser: (sternly) "Because you’re her big brother. And because I said so."

Jr. reluctantly gets up, groaned and follows Cleo.

Later,

He finds her sitting on the stairs, hugging her knees.

Bowser Jr.: (sitting down next to her, awkwardly) "Hey… Cleo. Look, I didn’t mean to yell at you."

Cleo: (sniffling) "You don’t like me. You think I’m just in the way."

Bowser Jr.: (sighing) "Hey, I don’t think that. I was just… mad. I’ve got a lot of stuff on my mind, okay? And I took it out on you."

Cleo: (looking up at him) "Why are you mad?"

Bowser Jr.: (hesitating, then shrugging) "I dunno. Ludwig’s always bossing us around, and Wendy’s always complaining, and Dad’s always looking at me like I should be doing more. It’s just… a lot."

Cleo: (gently) "But you don’t have to do everything, Jr. We’re all here to help."

Bowser Jr.: (smiling faintly) "Hm...Yeah, I guess… Sorry for yelling at you."

Cleo: (smiling back) "It’s okay. Can we be a team now?"

Bowser Jr.: (grinning) "Yeah. But don’t think I’m going easy on you in training."

Cleo: (giggling) "I wouldn’t want you to."

The two siblings head back to the dining room together, where the rest of the family waits. Cherry smiles as they return, and Bowser gives a satisfied nod.

Bowser: (gruffly) "Good. Now, can we eat without another fight?"

Iggy: (grinning) "No promises."

Morton Jr.: (happily taking another bite) "Mmm… finally peace!"

The room bursts into laughter, the tension finally broken.
