ive been meaning to sit down and draw an anniversary piece for larry n kabu cuz i have a cute wedding piece in mind in my head but i have NOTTT been in the mood to draw anything at alllll recently and its the worst. been feeling a weird sort of way the past few weeks and idk whyyyy. i think the summer heat and brightness has jsut been making he feel like crap. uk weather is the worst dont come here </3 it will make you never want to draw gay people ever again.........

im not interested in actually playing scarlet/violet so i just watched all the gym leader fights and who the FUCK designed this man. youre fucking hilarious and i love you. 

literally just some guy. they created just some whole ass dude. this guy works down the road in a cubicle and just so happens to be here to be the gym leader is that what im getting from him? he just got hired to be the gym leader for that day or whatever?

How do you make a shimeji?

I actually started out making my shimejis by following this tutorial (HERE) which was made by Zarla in i think 2010, I’ll give you a simplified version and make a basic tutorial for y’all to refer to :) since the live journal is Quite long....

What you need:

SO to start us off, you download the base shimeji from kilkakon (HERE) as well as JAVA (HERE) since its what the extension runs on. Both are safe to use.

Make a copy of the base kilkakon files just incase you need spares or mess up!

Some lil extras:

The programe/extension will automatically do all the work for you when it comes to code. You can edit the code yourself but I personally have no idea how to do that. (The livejournal version goes over that though i think)

The kilkakon base is of course a base for shimejis and looks very basic; just a simple big headed character that you can use as a template for putting your own shimeji into. Because of how simple this design is however, you may find it hard to distinguish what its doing or where your shimeji should be so I’d suggest using (my own shimeji's) as a base, please copy their “img” files for your own use but of course dont steal the art or post them claiming to be your own works <3

Actually making a shimeji:

To actually make a shimeji all you really need to do is open up the shimejis “img” file in an art program, draw in that file with your own design and save over the original file

All “img” files will come with a “shimeji” folder and a “icon” folder, both are self explanitory but the “icon” is actually what will pop up at your icon taskbar bottom right, which gives you options for your shimeji.

so you can change it to whatever you’d like :)

Shimeji “shime” img file orders:

Actually understanding what order shimeji files go in however is.... really hard and complicated lol so i’ll list them here for you to use as a reference when drawing for the corect order! 

This is where it gets a bit long only because theres so many sprites so I’ll put it under a read more :)

shime1: Idle/neutral/start pose/inbetween

shime2-3: Walking frames that go in the order of “1-2-1-3″

shime4: Falling

shime5-6: Breaking free of your hold (with mouse)

shime7-8: Medium swing when held

shime9-10: Heavy swing when held

shime11: Sitting idle

shime12-13-14: Climbing a wall that goes in the order “14-14-12-13-13-13-12-14 “ with shime13 being the default (make sure this is lined up perfectly with the wall when climbing to avoid weird clipping:

shime26-15-27-16-28-17-29-11: FOLLOW THIS ORDER EXACTLY. Is pretty much a free space for you to do whatever with, make note the final animation is shime11: sitting, so a sitting animation variation may work best

shime18: Hitting the floor after being dropped

shime19: Standing up after falling and hitting floor, this will then go into shime1

shime20-21: Crawling on the floor

shime22: Jumping/Leaping

shime 23-24-25: Climbing across ceiling, order goes by 25-25-23-24-24-24-23-25 so shime23 will be the beutral pose

shime26: Watching the mouse cursor

shime30: Start up for the below shimes frames vv

shime31-32-33: Another free space that goes in the order 31-32-31-33 this is supposed to be “sitting and waving legs” so the shimeji will be placed higher up to be able to “sit” on your task bar: 

shime34-35-36: Carrying a window off screen and goes in the order 34-35-34-36, shime34 is the neutral pose

shime37: final frame of the above animation ^ can be used however

shime38-39-40-41: Very slow duplication that goes in the same order and sends the two shimeji flying away

shime42-43-44-45-46: VERY FAST duplication goes in the same order and can happen multiple times in a row

And thats everything :) making them is SUPER simple once you know what is what, it just takes a while to draw out all the frames hehe :)
