Our take on Design Inspire Designathon 2021
We are group, Peerdrivers : Jill & Utkarsh. We are a team of design thinkers and data explorers. Pandemic has been quite a changing scenario for everyone may it be schedule or the way of working.
We took our audience concentration as teenage school kids(age: 11-16).
Problem Statement: The emotional, social and physical growth is lacking in online classes due to which students have lost their interest in attending school/lectures, hence, it also creates too much cognitive load for them.
We also listed down the objectives as our area of concentration :
We studied the mental model of the kids from our surroundings by understanding their day-to-day routine before and after the pandemic and how it had an effect on them. As these students are in adolescent age the primary thing that affects them is their peers i.e. friends, they adapt a lot from their surroundings.
Problems generally faced by students :
1. Continuous viewing at the screen for 3 hrs is frustrating
2. Hesitancy in asking doubts
3. Distraction due to chatting, background noise, snacks
4. Difficult to concentrate at home
5. Monotonous environment during online class leads to boredom
6. Some teachers teach using mobile sharing and understanding maths through mobile on such a small screen is difficult.
Understanding this situation we jumped into understanding the side of the economic user (Parents), hehe, well to be honest if education is a service then students are the end-user and parents are the economic user. Parents have also faced a lot of challenges dealing with children and working at the same time at home and completing the chores/task. Also, many parents had to share their mobiles then and again with students for their task to upload assignments and other school-related work due to which they ended up buying them mobiles/laptops. The parents have to pay attention to younger students and continuously poking irritates the child due to cognitive stress.
We tried to understand the other side of the coin i.e. the teachers.
On the teacher's side as well there are a few pain points :
1. Everything is based on assumptions while online teaching as you can’t see all students
2. No proper ways to keep a check on their performance online plus exams getting canceled
3. It's difficult to guide students for working parents as they are not aware of their ongoing syllabus.
After understanding all three scenarios, we tried to take a smaller area due to time limitation; for which we did a market segmentation :

At this tender age, students need to learn to work with each other, learn together, peer learns, help each other cause these factors majorly affect their growth in schooling age and help them grow better.
Our main aim is to bring back the essence of peer learning and communication among students in this time of pandemic in online schooling too by adding learning and student interaction through gamification.
We chose our module gamification around which we designed our prototype by taking the Octalysis framework as reference which was learned by us during our internship period.
Attaching the framework or reference:
The techniques and principles used in the octalysis framework are the building blocks for learning especially when it comes to children of this age. This model is also used by companies to train their employees.

Concept :
The concept portrays peer learning and gives them the motive to understand concepts, strategize and train their mind. And this will be a secondary platform to help them engage in their online class and in post covid situations. More about our concept is on the youtube link i attached below.
Well at the end we predict that this would be the emotions of our users after using our product.
