I'm realizing now that I haven't posted some of my recent Chicago Spirit work here, so! Have Wheels, and some WIPs of the other Spirit leaders (in order, Sawteeth, Chappell, and Derringer)!
Progress on the project this artwork is for is coming along REALLY well, I recently opened another blog for it (@tyrastafr-ttrpgs), but I'll still keep SpiritPosting over here too hehehe

another older drawing of Mr. Night! I think this was the first piece of him that I fully rendered, but it's a slightly outdated design now?

This may be a bold claim, and I would love for someone to correct me on this, but I gotta get it off my chest:
I do not believe "faeries steal names" was a trope before I used it in Taboo. It is something I invented for my entry in the SCP-4000 contest in 2018.
If the concept existed before then, I arrived at it independently. But I don't think that's the case. If you search variations of "fae steal names" on Google, and then add "before:2018", the results you get are very different.
Names have always been important in fae lore, but not as a transferable commodity. The whole idea of a person losing their name in Taboo was not even inspired by folklore, but by the Forest of Forgetfulness in Through the Looking Glass. The fae in Taboo having lost their names was a metaphor for genocide.
I bring this up because I feel like I've been seeing this concept pop up more and more lately outside of SCP circles. The first few times it happened I went, 'oh, I guess my idea wasn't as original as I thought.' Like, I couldn't even begin to think the SCP wiki had that much influence.
But I also began to see terms like "cognitohazard" and "breached containment" start to appear outside the fandom as well. Eventually one day I saw someone off-site saying that the twist in Taboo didn't land because they already knew fae stole names, and that finally made me think, 'no, that shouldn't be possible.'
Again, if anyone has evidence to refute this, I'd love for you to bring my ego back down to earth. But wow, wouldn't that be neat?
EDIT: In the brief time since I posted this it's come to my attention that a similar phenomenon happens in a 2014 web serial called Pact. Guess I may have to settle for "popularized" rather than "originated", heh. Excited to give it a read regardles! I'll leave this up in case anyone else has something they'd like to add about the history of this trope.

SCP-1929: Discoherence
Your sight is there, but your eyes are dust.
Your teeth are there, but your mouth is dust.
Your mind is there, but your thoughts are dust.
You wait for the end, but time is dust.

Haven't ever plugged an SCP before it's posted, but since staff needed a date to implement the rewrite, I thought it'd be fun to make a promo out of it.

Process for the Birch Knight from my SCP-8000 contest entry, co-authored by Uncle Nicolini. Go read it! It's a follow-up to my SCP-4000 entry, Taboo.

Catch.
A battle of wits ensues between folklorist and folklore.
They will both learn far more than they ever expected before their game is over.

I never draw the characters I write and never write the characters I draw. oop
乁(゚ヮ゚) ㄏ
I mean this in the kindest way possible, but if you want to draw OCs/do a lot of original work, you must accept that most people are not going to care about them. Like, at all. This is not a negative thing and is in fact the normal way of the world. If you want people to care about your stuff, you have to MAKE them care!
