SCP-8007 - THE PYROCLASM PROTOCOL
SCP-8007 is to remain at the location in which it was unearthed on 20/3/1980, within the caldera of Mount St. Helens. Access to the caldera itself is to be blocked off and surveilled to ensure that no unauthorized individuals or organizations enter the stratavolcano's crater.
------
HELLO MOTHERS AND FUCKERS OF THE JURY! I've thrown my hat into the ring for the SCP wikidot's SCP 8000 contest! Give it a peak, if you're willing!
The Foundation's discovery of a dragon's carcass within the crater of Mount St. Helens dominos into a worldwide investigation, and the unearthing of something monstrous.
Hold the last burning ember. Let us never surrender.
EDIT: The SCP-8000 contest has reached it's conclusion! My entry is now SCP-8007!!
------
All members of the team suddenly cover their eyes as a bright, orange light suddenly appears— far brighter than the magma within the cavern. Its source is a singular eye. Estimations from the camera put it at 53 meters in diameter.

Reading the SCP 8000 contest (The Roast Not Taken)
Why the motherfucker was in jail?
(Kind of nice the relationship between Able and Iris, i don't particularly like the ship but I found it kind of cute in this article)

Okay yeah Maslov's Flame was really good and probably the best 8000 entry so far. Maybe it's the chronic condition in me talking, but if this one doesn't have at least a top 3 spot I'm gonna lose my mind

SCP-8140: Burial Goods
I have posted my entry to the SCP-8000 contest: Burial Goods An archaeologist has found a sword in a digsite that didn't use to have anomalies - Featuring SCP-1000, the Daeva, and the unbearable pain of trauma. https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8140
Tumblr media
I have never written something so personal for the site (and it's only 7500 words) - A long while ago something traumatic happened to me and my family, I've spent years trying to find the right way to write a story about it. Although the events of this story do not reflect what happened, the atmosphere and emotional resonance is meant to evoke what we went through.

MARCUS ROIG'S RED DEATH
Anomalous effects begin when any person (henceforth referred to as "the viewer") watches the full video. Until the sun has next fully risen above the horizon in respect to the viewer's location, an anomalous figure wearing the Red Death costume will appear in all mirrors, reflections, photographs, and films containing the viewer. Fear responses upon observation are not anomalous, but believed to be wholly because of the appearance of the Red Death costume. It will typically appear at a distance, although it will steadily approach the viewer. Just before sunrise, it is typically almost touching the viewer's image.
Tumblr media
(Alt Text: Byam Shaw's illustration of the Mask of the Red Death. The red death stands underneath a clock and before a large pile of the bodies of revelers. It is dressed in a featureless red cloak, with a skull like face. A large window shining red light is in the corner.) "And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night." - Edgar Allen Poe

My dear SCP expert, is there any rhyme or reason as to how the SCPs are numbered or is it just random?
In most cases, SCP numbers are assigned by first come first serve. Choosing is usually random, but sometimes authors are more intentional with the numbers they pick, either referencing something in the article, or referencing another article, such as SCP-6820, Termination Attempt, being named for SCP-682.
However, there’s also the 1000’s slots and 001 proposals. When open slots get close to running out, the next 1000 slots are opened up. To decide who gets the 1000 slot, a contest is held.
Most recently, it was for the 8000 slot. PlaguePJP won with the wonderful SCP-8000, “Seal of Approval”.
Runner ups get to choose other numbers, with those placing higher getting to pick before those under them. I also recommend
SCP-8140 (Burial Goods by Grigori Karpin)
SCP-8005 (The Fool by daveyoufool)
SCP-8060 (Toon Town by ratking666 and Monkeysky)
And SCP-8007 (THE PYROCLASM PROTOCOL by Dino—Draws. You should read this one, Dino’s awesome and there’s dragons in this scp)
(Also, read SCP-7000, The Loser, by HarryBlank. It’s awesome.)
There’s also the 001 slot. There’s more than one SCP-001. These different 001’s are called “proposals.” They’re pretty big deals, however I’m not an expert in them because I haven’t read a lot of them. What I can say is that ROUNDERHOUSE has like 3 of them that I’ve heard are great, and I’ve been told Touching Eternity by OriTiefling is absolutely amazing. There’s a lot of cool 001’s, I’m just a slow reader.
Anyway, hope this answers your question!

So apparently F120A is gaining a little bit of presence on SCP Tumblr. Apparently.
This pleases me.
Have a list of personal, non-hub recommendations from my personal favourite canon on the wiki.
SCP-7293 - Cast For Ursine (BitOddInnit and SYTYCFanon)
A Remixcon entry that mashed up SCP-5464 and SCP-1313. Nice, lighthearted read for those looking to dip their toes in a little.
Always Darkest (UNCGriffin)
A tale about Iris Dark. Also about being trans. Also about the magical soul prison which houses the souls and consciousness of all your dead relatives. We all have one of those, right? Right?
SCP-8435 - The Law Without Land (OliverMemphis)
The most recent addition to this list, both chronologically and terms of rising in my favour. It's a very worldbuilding heavy article, but it does it absolutely masterfully and somehow manages to make fictional politics fun. If you read nothing else on this list, read this.
Esterberg (City) -- Wikipedia (Jasiu06, Jerden, MontagueETC, Ralliston, Zygard)
On the other hand, have you ever wanted worldbuilding in the purest, most undiluted form possible? How about a fictional wikipedia article from the 2030s, a decade after the collapse of the Veil?
SCP-8007 - THE PYROCLASM PROTOCOL (Dino--Draws)
The Ring of Fire is made of giant fucking dragons. Seriously, go look. They're right there. Probably one of the best articles of the 8000 Contest, and a really good standalone piece.
And that's what I'd recommend until you get a little deeper. Have fun, the five people reading this who haven't already read all of the above!
