the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .

for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...

#someone in the tags asked if this is like mourning someone and i can say yes it is #the worst is experiencing no new memories with them but the show goes on without them...#there's a difference between a show ending or even getting canceled because the whole story ends and all the characters leave with it #it is sad but you get some sort of closure #but when characters leave or die even and the story goes on that is so much worse #especially when it has close to zero impact on the remaining characters going forward and the writing is doing them a disservice #bc they get to live on but that one character doesn't and the previous storyline becomes meaningless/redundant #and 'you can always go back and rewatch' not when it's too painful to go back #i can't even look at gifs anymore without feeling immense pain bc it feels like a huge waste of time and emotional investment #you as a viewer/fan have zero control over how a storyline goes and that shit is scary #because anything can happen and writers have absolute control over your emotions and have free rein to mess with them
