Just thought you all would enjoy this! A comedic and period positive short film about the rough relationship between a woman and her personified period! Thank you so much for the work that you do!
Adding some warnings here for sex, vomiting, and some comedy violence! And blood, but I guess you guessed that one!

You got any tips on things I should eat on my period that won't make me feel bloated?
Staying away from sugary and processed foods, and those with a high salt content. Instead go for salads, whole wheat carbs, porridge, apples, bananas, cucumber, tomatoes and proteins such as eggs, nuts and fish :)

what do you do when you are on your period and feel super fidgety but every time you try to do something like walk around it doesn't help?
Try and find other activities to take your mind off it, if you want to be active you could try yoga or stretches, a shower might also help relax you, put on some music and have a dance around. These things vary a lot though, these are just the ones that help me :)

What do I do when I have HORRIBLE cramps in school and I can't focus at all? Besides going home...
Anti-Inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen will help, perhaps carry around one of those hand warmers too, so you can have a portable source of heat :)

i never get regular periods ever and no im not a teenager.. i had my first period wen i was 11 and now at 21 i still don't get them regularly.. i have been to many docs but their medictatns works fr a month or two .. wat should i do 2 mke thm regulr?
Unfortunately periods do vary from person to person, so your best bet is likely birth control. However, there are some lifestyle based ways that work for some people - taking omega-3 supplements, Vitamin D, wholemeal foods, iron, healthy proteins such as nuts and lean meat and best of all, dark chocolate have all been said to help contribute alongside maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping stress levels low :)

Thank you so much for the mention! This is really great stuff

May Masterpost Challenge: 7/20
End Goal: 20 masterposts by the end of the month
!Attention! If any of you have this thing against me talking about period for the ridiculous reason because it is supposedly “ disgusting” please give me your url so I can block you immediately.
Lmao sorry for the intense intro, I just can’t stand the stigma against period blood? It’s legit just a type of waste we have to go through????!?! Okay, on with the mp. This is for all people with a uterus.
 Cramps Cures:
Ahh, period cramps, those things that feel like needles poking into your sides multiple times and like you are scooping your insides out with a knife. So nice ;;;;;;;) (Note! If you are suffering menstrual pain to the point that it is preventing you from living your daily life normally, you need to go see a doctor.)
- Tea! Tea fixes everything. Herbal tea containing ginger can make your period more regular, peppermint helps cramps, and basil + thyme has a pain-killing effect.Green tea also helps.
- Use painkillers. Don’t overdose though. Take what you need, for me, its more of an emergency, that’s when I take painkillers. I like to pop an Advil sometime to help.
- Heat Packs. They help relieve tension press it to your stomach. Try a hot bath as well.
- Light exercise. walk a little, I know this might seem a little wtf (I mean the last thing you would probably suggest when you are in intense pain is exercising) But it works. Stretching also works.
-Do Yoga. Here is a set of yoga moves that really help in relieving cramps. These poses really help.
-Baths. Use two tubs that you cans sit in. Sit in hot water 4 3 mins. Then in cold for 1 mins. Repeat 3 times.
- If you feel so bad you have to stay at home, please stay at home! This is more important than any hw.
To Do:
- Eat food that are:
- Rich in calcium (beans + spinach)
-High in antioxidents (cherries + tomatoes + squash)
-Lean meat. (tofu + cold-watered fish)
-Vitamins. (D + E + Calcium)
-Drink 7-8 cups of water. Tracker here.
-Warm (soup is great for this kind of thing)
-get a good night’s sleep( THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IF YOU DON’T DO THIS IT’LL FEEL LIKE HELL THE NEXT DAY)
Stay Away From:
-Caffeine. Alcohol. and tobacco.
-Avoid processed foods for a while, the trans-fatty acid is torture for your pain.
-Avoid cool food. (Ice cream/ popsicles/ etc.)
How to Get Stain(s) out.
Here is a mp that had helped me a lot with blood stains.
Period Tracker Apps:
Clue (ios /android) This is suppose to be a period tracker that is not pink (finally!) To begin, you enter your typical cycle + length and then it predicts your future periods. It also let you give a mini entry of the various special things about your flow. You can also set your reminders!!! My fave app tbh.
Life- It’s sleek, simple interfaces make it easy to organize. If you want to add more features you have to add upgrade to premium but even without that it is v. v. cool. + It’s only subtly pink!!!
Tech period tracker apps are very limited. And frankly I only like these two, other just looks kind of tacky or just scream IMONMYPERIOD
Misc.
@period-tips Basically a bunch of tips that is so extremely helpful !  The admin is so nice
How to: Make a makeshift pad out of toilet paper.
- get one long strip, fold it up put it on your unmentionables, then get a second long strip, wrap it horizontally to secure the first strip.

i've seen a million tips for cramps but none for having a super heavy flow. got any tips for that, besides wearing lots of pads/shorts/pants?
Ibuprofen can help with flow, and apparently 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water can help, but I've not tested it myself! :)

I went from having two periods every month to having none at all.. Both times, these period changes started during school. Is this just stress? :(
Stress, or a change in routine can easily affect your cycle :)

my period is extremely irregular (I am talkin up to 8 months apart) but my doctor said that it was normal but how do i slow down the flow of it because I dont get cramps it just flows really REALLY heavily when I get it (im 14 so BC isnt an option)
Taking ibuprofen can help lighten your flow a little but there's not sure fire way of lightening your flow. If it does become bad you can go on birth control at 14 for medical reasons.
There is a remedy which is 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar in a glass of water which apparently can help too :)

As a guy with friends that have periods, I really don't know what to say or do when they start talking about how uncomfortable they are. How could I best comfort them especially when we don't see each other in person often?
Just understand that they might be going through a lot, such as cramps or an alteration in mood. Being understanding, but not too overwhelming is always best, listen and help if needed or if they ask you to

Are there things that you avoid from crying or being overly emotional? I know that sometimes I get super emotional over the smallest thing.
I'm personally not too bad on my period but generally taking time to yourself to watch something fun, or have a pamper session can help lift your mood :)

Hi! This blog is great buuuuttt I have a question What is the difference between a panty-liner and a pad? I've been wondering because both get mentioned and I believe a pad is stronger buut I have no clue and I'm curious. Thank you and you really are a great help :)
A panty liner is something you'd use more at the end of your period when it's really light, or day to day if you have heavy discharge :)

Can STDs be cured?
Tumblr media
Someone asked us:
If you have sex with out a condom and you get an std can a doctor fix it?
It’s true that having sex without a condom or a dental dam can result in an STD. Whether or not you can be cured of an STD depends on what type of STD it is.
Bacterial STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis can be cured with antibiotics. Viral STDs like herpes, HPV, HIV, and hepatitis can’t be cured. However, HPV and hepatitis can be prevented with a vaccine. And symptoms of viral STDs can be managed with help from your doctor or nurse.
Most STDs don’t have any symptoms, so it’s important to get tested regularly. If left unchecked, an STD can wreak some serious havoc. Taking care of yourself means preventing STDs by using condoms and/or dental dams and asking your doctor to test you for STDs.  Make an appointment to get tested today.

I've had my period for the past 11 days now, I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative but I'm still worried it's something bad, is there a reason for this prolonged period?
It’s generally recommended to go to your doctor for abnormal bleeding. It’s usually nothing however, but can point toward hormonal disorders, fibroids, etc. :)

If I'm really irregular (I can go months without my period) does it lower my chances of having children?
Nope! Irregular periods do not correlate to lower fertility
