something that I still haven't gotten used to in the Elisabeth musical fandom is the treatment of Death as if he was a literal character reather than a figurative one, which causes discussions like "Der Tod is toxic". I don't think I'll ever get used to it haha

I FINALLY finished reading the Count of Monte Cristo and while the whole book was great, the last quarter of it was truly astounding. The discussion at the climax (to not spoil) is so incredible, and everything after is a kind of satisfaction I was not expecting. I love the concept of a complex type of love between certain characters, something not completely romantic or platonic, but nonetheless complete and all-encompassing. Also Eugenie is either aggressively gay or possibly trans and I'm so here for both. Thank you for introducing me to this book and all the art you've made for or referencing it. Wait and hope!

Ahhh I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's one of my most favourite books ever 🥰 Eugenie and Louise were such a surprise to me when I first read it, I'm so happy for them : D and I agree that the relationships between characters is one of the most interesting parts

A couple ppl commented about not knowing what it is and someone tagged as hetalia haha so just to clarify: it's a fanart of Elisabeth das Musical, which is about the life and death of Empress Elisabeth and the fall of the Habsburg dynasty, told by Luigi Lucheni (Elisabeth's killer), who imagines a personification of Death pursuing the Habsburgs for love (interpretations may vary). Based on Mary Shelley’s post apocalyptic novel The Last Man. It’s very interesting, before I’ve read it I’ve seen it described as Mary’s expression of loneliness after most of her friends and family passed away, but interestingly, up until the last chapter the novel is filled with the feeling of community and affection. I liked it very much.
