i know we critique the ‘i’ve seen the footage scene a lot,’ but its like 1000x funnier if you look at it like steve saw all the footage and has literally no idea how to get a read on tony, and the only possible explanation he can come up with is that tony is an agent of chaos and therefore inherently insouciant towards anything or anyone that doesn’t aid in the creation of absolute bedlam . ergo ‘the only thing you fight for is yourself’ aka whatever it is you get out of causing pandemonium. 

and this is a lot of exposition just to get to my main point, which is that we assume SHIELD gave steve the footage, but in actuality the only thing we know he got for sure is tony’s paper file, so it’s okay for us to assume steve just googled tony, and that’s where he found The Footage™

which leads me to the point of the post which is that.. imagine setting a recently unfrozen man from the 40′s loose on the internet. like he googles tony stark, and the first thing that pops up is Tony’s wikipedia page and steve, reasonably, is like, ‘oh that looks like a good start’ and so he clicks on it and it looks like:
