This has legitimately solved a memory hole in hadn't even clocked i had

you know i’ve thought i was actually maybe crazy or just convincing myself of a eating the baby in the pitt false memory, but i’ve always swore that there was gorey injured NCR soldiers in the no man’s lands between forlorn hope and nelson, like ones there were left there trapped with mines by the legion or just blown up by them themselves. and every playthrough i’ve done in recent years i eventually get around that area and i’m like Huh. Weird. they didn’t spawn again. wonder what’s up with that. only to finally do some searching and find out that YES they were a thing and they were just permanently removed in a patch either with or before dead money’s release (conflicting results) citing the reason for them being cut being “memory issues” “to make room for new characters added by dead money” and. well. for the life of me I just cannot accept that answer because it makes literally no sense considering all the other dlcs add tons of characters and do not remove anybody. that’s also not how it works like there’s no Character Limit in the engine like that. all further discussions of it i’ve found just take that answer at face value and stop there and it’s driving me a little crazy
