Busy and healthy don't have to be mutually exclusive. I get it though. I've been in a hurry running through a drive through and for just a fleeting second you think, "I should eat something healthy" but as you scan the menu board, you just don't find much that fits the bill and the cars are stacking up behind you so you just holler back through the little speaker, "I'll have a #3 with a diet coke." And when they ask you if you want fries or to "super-size" it, you reluctantly reply, "Sure." ...thinking to yourself, why not?!? What's one MORE unhealthy choice. It doesn't have to play out like that though. There are healthy choices we can make and enjoy fast food without having a side of regret. These are a few of my favorite fast and healthy choices when I'm out and about. https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce4hJaNuCSP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I vividly remember my kindergarten nap mat. It was red on one side, blue on the other and it folded up accordion style. I'm sure it's such a vivid memory because of how traumatic it must have been for me to of had to take naps at such an early age in my life. Well, as you can see I survived that stage of my life only to have naps come back with a vengeance in my late 30's and 40's. The difference was I did not fight them, I welcomed them. YES! Bring on the slumber! I'm sure my body and my mind (subconsciously anyway) made the connection that when I ate like crap... and a lot of it, my body just seemed to venture off into sleepy time. (Trigger the Dopamine hit) It was my bodies way of shutting down for a while so that I could still "function". After a while "this" became a habit to combat the other unhealthy habits in my life. Now that I'm at a healthy weight, I don't nap as much during the day. Namely because I sleep so much better at night. Nowadays I sleep like a baby. Wake up feeling rested, energized and ready to take on the day. And now I have a better understanding of how my body responds throughout the day either passively or actively in each ultradian cycle. I learn to recognize what my body needs and respond accordingly instead of just ignoring it, suffering the consequences of the poor decisions I make in the mean time and inevitably crashing later. Yes, sometimes I'll perform so much better with just a nap. Even if it's just to rest my eyes for 5 minutes. One of the things we strive to help our clients with is better energy, so they don’t HAVE to nap, but can decide to nap for health benefits instead of just being able to function! There are two types of napping 1. For Health Benefits ❤️ 2. To Ward Off Poor Energy & Sleep 🥱 Are You A Napper? Don't fight it... your body may be trying to tell you something. https://www.instagram.com/p/CbFu6zNu58Y/?utm_medium=tumblr

I've never been one to plaster my car with bumper stickers. But if I saw one that said "Powered by God" I'd be slapping that on the bumper. Over 200,000 miles and it's still getting me down the road and back. It started having what I thought was an accelerator or even a transmission issue a few months ago. I had the transmission checked out and there was no problem with it. It's been hooked up to computers a few times and there were a variety of codes... thought it might have something to do with the throttle body. They cleared the codes and I've been driving it to see if it throws any more codes at us. But nothing yet. We've had 4 really good mechanics look at it and have yet to find anything. Until then we'll keep it fueled with a little bit of gas and a whole lot of prayers 😜 https://www.instagram.com/p/CakR6VuO3As/?utm_medium=tumblr

This is one of the habit (stacked) loops I've utilized on my health journey that ensures I stay hydrated and my body fueled to achieve my health goals. It helps to keep it simple and doable no matter how busy my day gets, whether it's the weekend or weekday. CUE When I began setting this habit loop, I heavily relied on these reminders. 3 years later, I still have alarms on my phone I can set especially on busier days to remind me to fuel and hydrate my body frequently. ROUTINE I keep water and healthy choices close and at the ready. Whether it’s fresh fruits and veggies, a healthy lean and green meal or one of these amazing brownies, I always make sure the healthy choice is the easy choice! REWARD I feel AMAZING. I'm fueled and have so much more energy from the healthy choices than how I'd feel in the past and the RESULTS of course are amazing! So there's that! What habit loops are you working on? https://www.instagram.com/p/Cacjtm-OEJ_/?utm_medium=tumblr

When a healthy recipe for cheesy stuffed meatballs lands in ya newsfeed… that’s what’s up 👊 that’s what’s fer dinna! Yes! You can eat this on plan! 🙌 Just round out your meal with 3 servings of non starchy veggies. I'll be keeping it simple with spaghetti squash and some of Celeste homemade tomato sauce. Raos marinara is also a good option for a tomato sauce with no added sugars. If you want the recipe or to be added to my client page with more amazing recipes let me know 👇 #healthyeats #nowthatsameatball #healthylifestyle #simplerecipe #weightloss #healthjourney #healthyhabits #feelinggreat #lovinglife #sleepinglikeababy https://www.instagram.com/p/CaVHFjtOTIx/?utm_medium=tumblr

When Sandy used to tell others she was living the dream, she wasn't lying. Things were pretty good. But sometimes we don't see what we are missing until we experience what is actually possible. She just wanted to lose a few pounds. She never fully considered what "living the dream" actually looked like for her until now. Here's what Sandy had to say... "I've been obese my entire life and always wanted to be able to just wear anything I'd find without questioning if it would fit in all the right places. I thought I had it all and put on this smile to everyone like the picture on the left. Looking back now I've learned I was REALLY good at hiding how I was really feeling. I have dropped 70 lbs so far and am very proud of finally being able to do this for ME!! I'm learning the habits for the long run for lifelong success. Weight loss was my initial goal but I have gained the love for myself again" https://www.instagram.com/p/CaH7lRMu_Ft/?utm_medium=tumblr

They are on to me! It's time that I come clean. So today I must ask for some forgiveness, from you, Mark Twain and from whomever first said this quote. In the spirit of it being Random Act of Kindness Day I had found this quote that I thought to be quite profound. But without employing my fact-checking resources I recklessly shared this in my Stories yesterday afternoon. Without even verifying that Mark Twain, in fact, did NOT say this. So you can understand how embarrassed I was to receive these notifications that I had unwittingly passed along false information by sharing this quote. As you can see I have since amended my infraction to reflect that this is NOT a quote of Mark Twain. Please accept my sincere apologies. It was never my intention to mislead or misinform anyone. As embarrassing as this was, I am not at all angry with our beloved fact checkers. It's been nearly 40 years since Al Gore invented the internet. So I can only imagine the countless memes and the thousands upon thousands of quotes from Abraham Lincoln, Keanu Reeves and Morgan Freeman they must verify. Interneting is hard on all of us. Let's just be kind and cut each other a little slack today and everyday. Much love ✌️ https://www.instagram.com/p/CaFUXMMriEu/?utm_medium=tumblr

Being open and curious to what lies outside of the drama triangle may be just enough to escape its gravitational pull. Moving from drama to empowerment requires self-awareness. Not what you portray or project for others to see, but that gut-check kind of self-awareness that'll get all up in your business kind of self-awareness. It may be fun to visit the drama triangle, but it's no place to live. #healthymindset #nodramalama https://www.instagram.com/p/CaC2zneOZ3P/?utm_medium=tumblr

A conversation with my former self... Hey man, I know life is pretty hard right now. I remember having a few conversations and crying out to God... How did I get here?... How did I go from running around, playing and keeping up with family and friends to not being able to walk up a short flight of stairs without getting winded?... When did I go from feeling good and "reasonably" healthy to a borderline prediabetic with high cholesterol, high blood pressure with chronic back pain and sciatica?... When did parenting from the couch become a "thing" for me? ... How did we go from loving my life to just trying to survive it? I want to tell you... just because you can't see it now... because you can't see it or even believe what's possible... I want to tell you there are others who do. There are others who believe in you... who see what's possible... who want to pour in and invest in your life and walk it out with you. Those who've been there and know all to well how you're feeling right now. They can't do it for you but they'll 110% do it with you. You gotta want it though. I'm so proud of you man. I know where your head was at back then but YOU made a decision. You were sick and tired of being sick and tired ...and just as sick and tired of seeing others win in their health and in their lives and yet nothing changing in yours. But you decided to reach out anyway to your brother and sister-in-law, who were one of "those" people getting healthy, and asked, "What do I have to do to get healthy?" Man, if you'd have known how different your life was going to be just a few months later, you'd have asked them a whole lot sooner. But still you did and I'm proud of you. Oh yeah, and you're not just gonna lose 40 lbs like you initially wanted. You're gonna lose 115 lbs and actually be at a healthy BMI for the first time since high school and 957 days later you still gonna be at healthy BMI and loving life once again! A little advice from "future" Phil: Start yesterday! Sure we'd step in front of a speeding train or a speeding bullet for the one we love. But how about drinking one more glass of water and one less glass of pop? Are we willing to park in the back of the parking lot and walk just a little bit further? Are we willing to say NO to one more unhealthy choice and YES to one that'll serve our goals? Just like in our relationships, it's the little seemingly insignificant things that make the greatest impact in our lives. While dying for each other may seem easier, it's hardly romantic. According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity and overweight together are the second leading cause of PREVENTABLE death in the United States, close behind tobacco use. An estimated 300,000 deaths per year are due to the obesity epidemic. For those who've made the vows... "In sickness and in health", maybe it's time to renew those vows. Yes, there certainly are sickness and health issues that are beyond our control and we vow to love and cherish each other through it all... for better or worse. BUT are we really willing to put in the effort to intentionally pursue the BETTER or the BEST for each other? If not, we're only left with the option of managing the worst. Valentine's Day is just a few days away and I'd love to help a few more couples recommit to their health. I can relate to Noelle. The "extra" unhealthy weight we carry around impacts us in every aspect of our lives. She experienced a lot of adversity, but stayed committed because she knew it was time to CHANGE HER HABITS AND LIFESTYLE! “My name is Noelle. I have been obese most of my adult life. I avoided scales, mirrors, and cameras for a long time. In June of 2016, I took my children to the zoo, and they were forced to wait for me every 10-15 min due to back pain and exertion. This was not the life I wanted for my children. It was time for a change. I decided to face the scale, weighing in at 414 pounds. I was devastated. I decided at that moment that I had to completely change my lifestyle for good, or I wasn't going to be around much longer. I started my journey on July 29th, 2016, and on my 1-year anniversary, I had lost 207 pounds (half my body weight). I feel amazing and have so much energy. I now get to enjoy my life with my children....hiking, zip lining, swinging, and so much more. Progress is not perfection... A huge part of losing weight is believing. You can do It and realizing it's not going to happen over night. Starting at 414 pounds, I set small achievable goals for myself. If I focused on needing to lose 200 plus pounds, I would've been easily discouraged and overwhelmed. I focused on getting to 399 and then set 20 pound goals for myself. I hit 4 plateaus that would last 2 to 3 weeks and one that lasted almost a month. I stuck to my goals through all of them....why? Because this is a lifestyle change. Whether the scale is moving or not, I am improving my health every day by making the right food choices and moving my body. Remember to never give up what you want most for what you want today". https://www.instagram.com/p/CZuZrwFuNIc/?utm_medium=tumblr
