Battles just had this on their new mix tape, occasional fellow Warp recording artist Four Tet and his mind bending mini-mix ...I'm astounded by the range of the Battles musical tastes, but thats's exactly how they came so far from where they each started as musicians playing in heavy punk rock bands in the early 90's...naturally changing interests, expanding the mind, is something everyone should practice to help elevate the collective thought patterns of our human universe...enjoy

While Listening to "A Forest", driving around Bucks County for a final look around before I move back to the city, I captured a few scenes in the winter landscape that I always have enjoyed when I took long drives as a kid and now as an adult, re-visting my adolescence in photographs...

The Cure "A Forest"

The Cure was a big part of my conversion from listening to English and American punk and Nyc and D.C. hardcore to english pop and shoegaze, like My Bloody Valentine, New Order, Swervedriver, The Smiths, and of course The Cure. I still went to punk rock/hardcore shows, but I went home and listened to this stuff, and it opened my world up. I still like to re-visit this music from time to time, I think it has amazing relevance still today, and it has influenced so many of the bands that I listen to presently, like Beach House, The Xx, Ratatat, Flying Lotus, Mars Volta, Air, etc. Listen and enjoy, take a trip down memory lane or discover some of the roots of contemporary independent rock.
