It started with me seeing this image by @.thyrell while on an interesting level of Gabe Brainrot

So I thought "huh, the Gabriel that we saw doesn't really fit with how adored he was by the citizens of Hell, Something™ could have happened". That something turned out to be him sticking by his kindness in the face of the Council's orders (his devotion, first and foremost, is to god and not them) and paid for it, because no good deeds goes unpunished in this tragedy of a game.

They took a page from mankind and made him a machine, conveniently wiping his memory of the process (a certain portal 2 fic comes to mind), then sent him back to Hell with wires in his guts, swords in his hands, and obedience in his head. And Hell saw its friend turned traitor without knowing the horror that happened.

Much like how the mindflayers run on 'Hell energy', I think he runs on 'Heaven energy' and the Council disguised it as God's light and that they can sever his connection to it (canonically he's the most powerful angel why the fuck can they do that. unless it's something they gave him in the first place). The rage upon failure, the desperate fear of death, the passion for bloodshed, and the interest in music are a result of his programming being a modification of the basic blood-powered warmachines' one (the terminals sang to him too. looking back, he realized there's a lot of signs that he missed). He's going to have a lot of fun with that identity crisis :)

And of course he's going to wonder how much of him is mechanical, which leads to V1 doing a vivisection on him sexual style <3
