i wish AO3 had, like, an option to tag certain characters as “main characters” or “side characters” because if you try to find fics about an unpopular character through their tag you end up browsing through like 3000 fics where one sentence mentions them scratching their ass in the background and that’s it

I think about it all the time, but I just haven’t had the time or focus for writing lately. I do want to get back to it eventually, but I also don’t want to make any promises. I’m so happy you enjoyed TransFigured. That was a really important story to me at the time that I wrote it.

hi :) i was recommended highland fling by a friend and i already know by the tags that i will love it, i am so excited to read it!

i also sometimes bind fanfic and i love to do a blind bind from time to time where i bind a story i dont know yet and then get the best experience by reading it as a book for the first time. and i would love to do that for this story.

so my question: do you allow your stories to be bound (by hand)? of course only for private use and no profit is involved.

I love the stats page on AO3. I use it to track my monthly stats in a spreadsheet, and see how different fics do over time, because I am that kind of numbers nerd. I’ve been on AO3 since 2007, and I’ve posted over 80 works, so that’s a lot of data. I have one beast of a fic that outpaces the rest by a mile, and another that is lucky if it gets one hit per month. This is how I measure my impact upon the world. If I were a dragon, this would be my hoard of treasure.

authors! go to your ao3 dashboard, click on statistics, look at your totals and tell me how many hits you have?

Woke up suddenly to the thought that the official archaeology database for Washington State is literally called WISAARD, and of course I have to use that as a plot point in my archaeology AU. How had I not considered this before?

The drop-off in hits over the last three years on Fanfiction.net has been kind of astounding. I'm down 80% overall from where I was 3 years ago, and some stories have dropped by as much as 95%. Is there even a benefit to posting there anymore?
