New Comet C/2023 H2 Lemmon by Giuseppe Pappa

Long-period comet C/2023 H2 (Lemmon) was discovered on April 23, 2023, as part of a star survey conducted with the 1.5-meter telescope at Mount Lemmon Observatory. The comet has an elongated orbit with an eccentricity close to unity. At perihelion it approaches the Sun at a distance of 0.89 AU. e., at aphelion it moves away from it at a distance of 490.7 a. e. With the size of the semi-major axis of the orbit 245.8 a. That is, the comet's orbital period around the Sun is about 3850 years. The last perihelion passage took place on October 29, 2023. After comet C/2023 H2 (Lemmon) passes perihelion on the night of November 10-11 universal time, it will approach the Earth at a distance of about 29 million km. At this moment, the comet will be in the constellation Hercules, which will be located quite high above the horizon in the western part of the night sky.

"The protostar within the dark cloud L1527, shown in this image from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is embedded within a cloud of material feeding its growth. Ejections from the star have cleared out cavities above and below it, whose boundaries glow orange and blue in this infrared view. The upper central region displays bubble-like shapes due to stellar “burps,” or sporadic ejections. Webb also detects filaments made of molecular hydrogen that has been shocked by past stellar ejections. The edges of the cavities at upper left and lower right appear straight, while the boundaries at upper right and lower left are curved. The region at lower right appears blue, as there’s less dust between it and Webb than the orange regions above it."

«NGC 7635: Bubble in a Cosmic Sea» by Rolf Geissinger

Explanation:

Adrift in a cosmic sea of stars and glowing gas the delicate, floating apparition left of centre in this widefield view is catalogued as NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula. A mere 10 light-years wide, the tiny Bubble Nebula was blown by the winds of a massive star. It lies within a larger complex of interstellar gas and dust clouds found about 11,000 light-years distant, straddling the boundary between the parental constellations Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Included in the breathtaking vista is open star cluster M52 (lower left), some 5,000 light-years away. Above and right of the Bubble Nebula is an emission region identified as Sh2-157, also known as the Claw Nebula. Constructed from 47 hours of narrow-band and broad-band exposures, this image spans about 3 degrees on the sky. That corresponds to a width of 500 light-years at the estimated distance of the Bubble Nebula.

Друзья, завтра — 17 ноября 2023 — ожидается важное событие: Второй интегрированный полет транспортной космической системы Starship, разработки компании SpaceX. Предыдущий полет был в апреле, и тогда ракета потеряла ориентацию — её подорвали в воздухе — на высоте 39 километров. За полгода в конструкцию было внесено огромное количество изменений, и можно надеяться, что в этом испытании разработчики достигнут следующей ступени успешности.

Старт ожидается около 16 часов по Москве. Но надо дополнительно уточнить в первой половине дня.

"M78 is a bright reflection nebula spanning 4 light years and is located within the Orion B molecular cloud. The Orion B molecular cloud (LDN 1630) is home to several bright nebulae in the same vicinity, the brightest being M78, but also including NGC 2071, NGC 2067, NGC 2064 (all in the image) and NGC 2024, known as the Flame Nebula. The illuminating stars of M78 are early B-type supergiants HDE 38563A and 38563B. The illuminating star for NGC 2071 is HDE 290861. Aside from the brighter stars infrared studies have revealed over 40 low mass stars unseen within the cloak of thick dust pervading the region. Some nascent stars in the M78 region exhibit dramatic Herbig-Haro outflow phenomenon (glowing red patches) indicators of young stellar objects (YSO) still in their formative stages. These infant stars do not shine yet under their own power but reveal their presence by producing collimated jets of hot gas which ionizes the adjacent gas cloud causing a small intensely red glowing patch (seen in the lower left of the image)."
